Hi guys, I just bought a new PC and finished the HotS campaign. I got into gold league with WoL and I want to get back into the multiplayer action. I was wondering if someone could recommend me a standard TvX build to try and get back into the game again?

How about this 15 gas expo build?

Typical 1 base Terran Mineral Income is between 840-996 minerals/minute (16-24 workers) (Source) including the Mule.

Constant Marine Production out of a reactored barracks = 300 minerals / minute (150 per marine)
Constant Siege Tank Production costs 250 minerals / minute
Constant Medivac Production costs 180 minerals / minute (which the build doesn't even call for btw)
(all costs include cost of depots)
(Source)

This totals up to 720 minerals / minute, meaning you have another 120-270 minerals / minute to spend assuming perfect macro. Typically players dont macro perfectly, and therefor you overmake production slightly. Adding another 2 barracks of marine production (300 minerals / minute) was pretty standard for the 1 base all-in "1/1/1" (which actually included 3 barracks, the extra 2 added on after the rax / starport / factory just like in this build). If you dont add on the extra 2 rax, you typically thrown down a command center around 7:00-8:30.

Yes, that build will work really well. I would reccommend eventually moving to the Reaper expand variation (basically you go 12 rax 12 gas, reaper then reactor instead of 12 rax 15 gas, 2 marines then reactor, otherwise the build is exactly the same). The Reaper will give you better scouting information, which is very important in HotS.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not really raring to try out reaper expands because they require a lot of micro. Also, in the lower leagues I don't expect to gain a lot by scouting because of people just messing up their builds and just confusing me that way. Only thing I need to be able to scout is if I'm being cheesed/all-inned. I might try my hand on reapers once I can hit the right timings with a standard build.

Ohh,,, I didn't know that, could someone explain as of why it's called 1/1/1 if you're producing stuff out of 3 raxxs 1 fact and 1 starport? Doesn't the 1/1/1 name kind of fail itself if you're on reality 3/1/1?

Actually the 1-1-1 is the name of the opening that TLO invented back in the Beta.
The all in just got the name from this opening as a 1-1-1 all in, in which case you add 2 more raxes instead of expanding and pull some scves with you.

It does, and I dont know why it's always been called the "1/1/1 all-in", I thought it was a misnomer even back then. I tried a few times to call it the "3/1/1" but it isn't as catchy apparently

In WoL it was very rare for someone to open up with a 1 base 1/1/1 and go into a long game with a Command Center. Typically, once you saw that set up it was almost always the powerful all in.

Hence, people just associated 1/1/1 in TvP as... 1/1/1 !!

Is there any way to beat a 1 base banelingbust in tvz.
I have never beaten this build since i play starcraft and i have tried everything; reactor hellions, mass bunker, widow mines.
but no matter what i do, the zerg just busts through and kills me.
here is a replay where i tried to wallin with three bunkers, marines and hellions but still died. it seems like there is nothing i can do vs it.

Just watched the replay, you were actually in a very good position to hold this. You lost at 6:20 by having your units out of position and not constantly making units. Here are some key things to consider when trying to hold off this build-

1: Speed finishes at 4:50 with optimal execution of the 14/14 Speedling opening. Before that timing you need to see if your opponent is still mining gas (you did this very well, just making sure others who might be struggling vs this know as well). Pull your Reapers back around 4:40 to ensure their survival. Keep them on the low ground next to the wall so they can jump to safety if necessary, occassionally poking out to see when the bust is coming / deal some damage. With 2 reapers you can 3 shot banelings and maybe take 1-2 out as they run up the ramp.

2: A critical mass of hellions will be your key to holding off this build. Keep your hellions together, on a control group between the ramp and your mineral line. Do as much damage as possible to the zerglings as they come up the ramp while they are lined up, pick off any remaining banelings, then retreat your hellions back to your mineral line. Have the SCVs attack the zerglings, and then hold position. This will cause them to create a wall that the zergling AI wont register as a wall akin to a forcefield, giving your hellions free shots. Repair your hellions at every free chance to help you get up to that critical mass necessary.

3: Make sure you constantly remake your wall after every bust. Engineering Bays have the most health for the amount of time it takes to construct them. Your CC was also in a pretty bad spot for the wall off, it would have been better to build it 1 space lower and flush against the wall as it would have created a full wall off and narrow chokepoint for your opponent's unit to run through (you actually do a much safer opening than myself and dont have to rebuild your CC vs this kind of thing).

You should also have SCVs pulled to repair the second layer of the wall, even if the wall goes down they will be in position to rebuild the wall when the zerglings run in and the zerglings most likely wont be targetting these SCV's down (and even if they are, this is giving your other units free shots).

Really though, holding this off just comes down to having a practiced / refined response, if you want I'd be willing to do some practice games with you. You had all the tools to deal with it this game and it just came down to some hesitation / poor micro on your part.

watched your first game, while you won you would have died to anyone who was competent with that banshee build.

you need vikings and a few turrets if your build doesnt include getting a raven. watch this flash game from the op to help you with a build order.

just remember once you have scouted his gas first, you know your economy is going to be better than his while his tech is faster. your role is to defend and his is to get damage done

OK guys, what is the best response to massss banelings TvZ if you are already near maxed on MMM + hellbats.
Ex:
-3 base Terran to 4 base zerg, both just finished 2-2. Terran is just about maxed and ready to push with MMM + hellbats and a single thor.
-Zerg spends all his gas on Banes and keeps pushing his creep out with his scarry bane army.

Do you try to fight, or just wait till 3-3. It feels like letting zerg bank gas while maxed is never a good idea, so whats the best couse of action IF YOU ARE ALREADY IN THIS POSITION please no, don't let this happen answer
thanks in advance

thanks for this, exactly the kind of remark I was looking for. I'm not sure at all about how to read TvT and you've given me a few words to work with, so to speak. thank you for the build as well.

Obviously the composition of your opponent depends on how well you traded earlier and how much you pressured him.
That said, 1 thor isn't enough in this situation and hellbats aren't really good in a maxed out situation. You wanna have a bunch of thors and lots of marauders and medivacs to tank those banelings.

Someone linked a 15 gas or smth on this page and I think that's a good all around build to get into. Just my opinion. There is one guy on youtube (forgot his name) that do a beginner friendly opener you can look at. Search for bronze ti masters series.
I know apollo got one
