Hey there, what have you guys been vetoing this season and why?
Personally, I vetoed:
-Habitation: Had some TvPs against a really annoying tempest style on that map
-Alterzim: It's so big :S
-Frost: I can't stand TvT on that map.

After watching hero vs maru, i feel like i wanna play again.

I would like to ask: What is the most commonly used openings in each matchup? I have had a long hard look at the first page of this thread, but it seems there are generally quite a lot of options in terms of which strategy to use.

Once the openings are out of the way, I think this will be my go to strategy:

TvP: MMM as always, with vikings and ghosts when necessary.
TvZ: 4M, with mines right?
TvT: bio or mech

THanks guys

Has anyone seen Cure vs Hydra in SPL? Because this is exactly how I die very often with mech vs Zerg. Here is the link:

Basically fast mutas make it hard to secure a third, once you have enough thors and vikings you take it but then you die to the 30 roach followup. Anyone an idea what he could have done better?

In TvP you also want mines (a lot if they go zealot/archon, a few against other comps).

Yeah I really like mines even against colossi, having 5/6 in your army allow you to retreat without problem and if he doesn't control his army he can lose 10 zealots and you nothing. Quite neat.

Could someone please have a look at this:
http://drop.sc/378745
TvZ, Frost, Cross Map, Macro Game, High Diamond (=newb)

My economy and income are higher than his the ENTIRE game. I feel like I macro up pretty well, achieve a healthy SCV and rax count really early. In the first 17 minutes of the game, I kill 40 (!!) drones, the zerg, at minute 17, has 70 drones (so he rebuilt around 40) and is still floating 1600 minerals and defending. HOW THE F*** is this even possible?! I end up losing the game of course.
Why did I lose this game? Were all my engagements just THAT wrong?! Please help. Ultra frustrated right now.

Thanks for the advice mate.

Still in search of most commonly used openings for each match up, if someone could help.

At 16mn 2/3 of your army is at your nat doing nothing. You could literally have a moved and killed him at that point. You also lost your hellions and reapers sooner in a pretty bad way, your nat gases were too late leading to a low medivac count, and your armory wasn't started when your 1/1 finished. At 16mn you haven't started 2/2 while he finished his. He starts his 3/3 before you.. at 23mn. When he gets ultras you have almost no marauders and still very few medivacs.
In the big picture, your creep spread denial was pretty bad despite total map control, and while you killed lots of drones you didn't trade vs his army well and you didn't take advantage of standard terran advantages (upgrades) or the advantages you got this game (bigger army, but rallied at home). Also, about your engagements, I think your army positioning isn't very good, you have a lot of units way far at the back that don't attack until half your army is dead.
So yeah while his play was pretty bad, you could have finished the game very early but instead let it drag longer without setting up your late game well (earlier 4th, good upgrades).

Next question:

What exactly is it that stopped Zerg's broodlord/infestor combination that was super popular in the last moments of WoL? I last played this game around that time, so I know it well. How come it is not used anymore now? What exactly happened to infestors (EDIT: and broodlords)?

Boost medivac that make terran armye ven more mobile against that compo;
Nerf of infestor (fungal no more instant cast);
Nerf of infested terran (no more ugrade for them);
Buff of mutas (high regen, much faster).

So the meta switched back to mutas ling bane :p

Also, the presence of Widow Mines or Hellbat Thor as a replacement of the Siege Tank in the anti-ground compositions.
Broodlords really abused sieged tanks, whereas Bio Mine/ Bio HT is a lot more mobile and not that weak against Broodlings.

Lastly, the maps are more open, larger and have less dead airspace, which makes Broodlords more vulnerable.

Anyone know what happened to Viking mech vs zerg which was quite popular 2-4 months ago? Why did top koreans stop using it?

The 8 mutas or so build into Sh back into mass bases and about 40 mutalisks is very difficult for terran to deal with unless you turtle to a lot of ravens which isnt easy to do against a good zerg who abuses the fact you need to deal with Sh and mutas in different places. Mutas can just fly around and get on your tanks again.

Yeh that's why players went Vikings back then? Like 2-4 months ago everyone still "countered" by going Muta/Swarm Hosts, and it wasn't obvious to me (based on streamed games) that Muta/Swarm Hosts owned mech.

I feel like this game is such a good example of how in the hands of a good player it is nearly impossible to play mech vs muta/swarm host.

Game 2 is the one you want to watch, starts at 17:50.

Vikings suck vs Mutas. Add in vipers and spores and your ravens get pulled too and your vikings get wrecked

Yes I watched all those games and Innovation in that one turned out to lose one close game to Soulkey. In other games we see mech winning these close games. Like Innovation also losses games with bio, and I think on streamed games, the win-rates of mech aren't noticeable worse than the win-rates of bio. Thus, I simply don't see the evidence of mech nonviability in those types of games.

I mean given the fact that a lot of terran players are struggling with bio play atm vs zerg, it doesn't seem obvious that they would completley stop going mech.

OK do you guys know of some good vods vs roach hydra? preferable after the hydra buff, and ideally on alterzim?
btw, the new hydra buff is kinda good. I was checkin out some scenarios and with even army supply/upgrades(even bio ups with mech attack ups one behind) and roach hydra beats or is even with most standard terran comps including marine tank, and MMM. Weird thing was, when you have low tank counts (<7) un-sieged tanks did better than sieged tanks unless your tanks were 100% pre-sieged before the battle, which is a little bit unreasonable for most engagements.
I was thinking if vipers are out and army supplies are even it might be better not to siege all your tanks, but only a few way in the back that otherwise wouldn't fire. Makes vipers dead supply and you can micro back behind blinding cloud basically making the spell work for you instead of against you. This is all theory-crafting of course.

Innovation felt ahead for most of that game. If he'd been able to neutralize the muta counter threat he could've 1A'd for the win. Did he get building armor? Should have gone full BW Flash and bulilt 100 turrets

I think mines could also have hampered the muta's since an overseer makes it have to go slower, plus in good spots they could spot so your vikings have more time to get in position.

Personally I go max hellions of two base to force zerg to build roach/ baneling or turtle on 2 base in which case I can do a timing.
I think esports is pretty nice.
