I think the reason my best Match up is TvZ is because my play style is hyper-aggressive and there is literally ALWAYS something going on in each game. The things I have problems with in TvT cloak banshee in short. I have always hated cloak banshees since WoL and I still to this day cannot stand playing with them, or against them. I copied a build from Jjakji and have been going cloak banshee every TvT and no matter how perfectly I excute the opener I either get ran over because my stim is late or I have hardly any marines.

The build is a hard counter against 1-1-1s and any early cloak banshee build while starting a banshee with cloak around 5:20-30 mark. My play style has never fit with banshees because I really do not like to have my attention on a single glass unit and am very heavy into playing with disposable marines with lots of micro. I only make 1 cloak banshee, and I usually don't harass a whole lot with it after I see a raven because I don't want to lose it.

The only builds that I have found consistent success with are proxy 11-11-11 reapers and 11-11 proxy marauder into cloak banshee. Every other opener that I have played not only do I not enjoy playing but I usually get rolled come mid-game because of lack of mobile units. Especially when getting contained in TvT it's almost like automatically GG if you don't have medivacs to drop.

PLEASE HELP ME BE CONSISTENT IN TvT AND NOT HAVE TO GAMBLE WITH STUPID PROXY BUILDS THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!

You must be really bad at proxying and your "hard counter against 1-1-1s and any early cloak banshee build" must be really badly executed if all you're winning is 20% of your games.

I apologize if I come off as a douchebag, I just see someone who came in here to bloat about being ranked 1 in certain ladder, did it mainly by cheesing, has now met with opponents who know how to scout, and is going crazy 'cus suddenly his cheesy builds have stopped working.

My only advice is to post a replay of you opening with your magical "hard counter" and losing with it. Because rarely do I see a "hard counter to 1-1-1s" and when they do pop out, it's usually cheese or bad play resulting from guides written by bronze players who "know more about game theory" and use that as an excuse to not hit the higher levels.

Good luck.

Firstly I would like to thank you for apologizing ahead of time for your unproductive post, and in addition I believe the word you were looking for to describe my "bragging" about being in diamond league is "gloat". The only reason I post my rank is to confirm that I'm actually a masters player in diamond because of how shitty I am. Rank and league means absolutely nothing to me as I do not play SC2 to feed my ego. If cared about that sort of thing I would have never switched to terran in the first place.

Now that we got that out of the way I would like to explain that the only reason I "cheese" in TvT is because proxying in TvT early game is really one of the only ways to get around having to defend against cloak banshee. While it doesn't prevent cloak banshees from being made, it does force them to stay at home to defend proxy's a lot of the time especially if my opponent is unfamiliar with how games with proxy marauders/reapers tend to unfold.

I would open macro every single TvT but the problem is that I really do not like having to stay at home all game long for fear that a banshee might come in while a leave and kill lots of my stuff. I would say my biggest flaw in TvT is being aggresive at the wrong times and not having sufficient defense against things like doom drops. I also have a problem with having 3 orbitals for various reasons.

Thank you once again for reading my post and any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!

Aren't there some dedicated anti-banshee openers that you could do? I.E gas first into raven and then a tank push? That's what I think most pro Terrans do as an alternative to banshee openers or 15 gas..

Not necessarily terran-specific, but how do I get out of a losing streak? I am currently around 2-20 over the past week or so, and I can't seem to win. I'm not losing because of macro issues (I am actually macroing and executing my builds better than I ever have been) but continuously idiotic and stupid decisions, like lifting rax from ramp vs. one base banelings, scouting banshee but then never building engineering bay, flying 5 medivacs of units into a muta cloud/feedbacks, building ghosts vs. colossi, amoving a whole army into tank fire because I somehow think it will work, etc. I can't seem to make correct decisions in any of these games, and as time goes on I wonder if I have somehow lost all my game sense or something. I don't know what to do to fix an issue like this.

If you hate using banshees and have trouble against banshees, why not use a raven opener? Just open the same as you would with banshee, but get a raven instead. Also I don't really see the point of investing in cloak if you only make one banshee that, according to you, probably won't do any damage. If I see a gas first Terran I'll make a raven after my first banshee and then make a least one more banshee; they have tons of utility throughout the early and midgame and shouldn't be kamikaze'd needlessly. If you can't to damage with it, just turn it around so it can pick something off later.

If you like super aggressive styles, just go mmm. In an even game you'll always be ahead in army and there's plenty of micro potential available to you. If your Tvt is as bad as you say it is, in the end it comes down to strategy, tactics, and decision-making. Tvz is a much more mechanical matchup but Tvt depends less on how big your army/economy is and more on how you can position it. Watch some pro streams and look specifically for why they move their armies the way they do at certain times depending on what they see.

Quick question as I'm too lazy to figure it out myself and I don't have much experience with conventional mech play. How many production facilities can a 3 base mech player support? I play mech TvP and usually sit at 4 factories, 1 reactored starport, and 1 rax for ghost production by the time I get my third up, which seems pretty low.

aw mang, I feel your pain. But, don't let it get you down!

Look, you write that you a-move a whole army into tank fire because somehow you think it will work. I call that being on the cusp of that next level, especially in TvT - you FEEL that you can take it, so you go in. You have played enough TvTs, your brain is finally starting to figure out unit compositions and now is pushing you to run over that tank line because it knows you can! Don't worry, man. Give it like 40 more "a running my army into a tank line" and suddenly you will click, and you'll see that those 'mistakes' you're making are actually unfinished big plays! :D

I have explained that I have been doing a build that hard counters 1-1-1 builds (including cloak banshee) which also allows me to have a cloak banshee of my own. I copied the build from Jjakji when I played him in the 4th round of a gfinity cup 2 weeks ago.

As long as I continue doing this build I have no problem dealing with cloak banshee, what this build does have problems with is things like marine hellion timings, mass hellion, or 1-1-1 contain into 3rd orbital. Even If I nullify their banshee and my banshee does reasonable damage, I still end up either getting rolled by a stim timing or getting contained in my natural.

When/if I try to move out to contain them things normally don't work out as they have a raven/vikings and tanks of their own. I tend to take a lot of risks with my units in general and I like to try to get ahead without playing greedy but by being hyper-aggro while leaving little defense at home.

I don't like to play MMM unless I'm playing against mech and even then I tend to get rolled late game since the upgrade buff to air if I'm not 2 or 3 bases. To sum things up I really don't like playing greedy or making orbitals if I don't need to expand, it just feels wrong to me. However I have been experimenting with it and I always tend to die due to too little units to defend.

If it's mostly mid game counter attacks that are your problem, try spreading individual marines around the map on common drop / attack paths. Make sure you're constantly fighting for control of the middle of the map too, don't have your units just sitting around in your natural and it will become much more difficult for your opponent to contain you, make them fight for space the whole way across the map, this can buy you enough time to get units out to defend. TvT is the most positional matchup so even just camping your army at a watch tower or a third of the way across the map as opposed to at home can put a lot of pressure on your opponent.

Tvz is a much more mechanical matchup but Tvt depends less on how big your army/economy is and more on how you can position it. Watch some pro streams and look specifically for why they move their armies the way they do at certain times depending on what they see.

I think you might just have to suck it up and build a banshee. In TvT, I follow a very formulaic banshee build involving only 1 banshee into raven into 6:15 expansion. I can usually get stim and medivacs out by 11 minutes if I play sharp, so you can't get contained very easily. The thing that's useful about just building one banshee is that you a)get full and complete scouting info on your opponent, b)have a tool to defend against any frontal pushes, and c)can also kill workers. But with only one banshee you really only need about 6 kills to break even. You may not even want to get cloak. But once you hit that medivac timing, you can play aggro and be very aggressive, but it just so happens that a banshee build, the swiss army knife of TvT builds, is probably the best to get there.

hi everyone 1400 point rank 1 diamond player here. My best match up is currently TvZ which used to be TvT but as of late I have found TvT impossible to play. I lose literally probably 80% of my TvTs. I really need help in TvT very badly.

I suggested the builds that I did because they're safe against not only banshees, but pretty much anything if you know how to respond, including those hellion/marine timings or tank contains you seem to have trouble with. And you can do it without a banshee. If you want to get more economical, 15 gas that expands early is another good alternative from my limited experience (just started using it).

Mmm is the only play style in Tvt that allows for bring hyper aggressive; IMO trying it with anything else is viable but also a bit of a gamble. Like with any game, you need to know when to pull your punches and stay back.

From all the things you said I think the best way the forum can help you is if you post a couple replays.

From what I read you just don't want to play a viable playstyle, so don't complain about it if you lose. If you "don't want to build that and this", then lose that's all.

Take a break for like a week, you probably just need some time away from it. this has happened to me and a short break worked wonders

What are some 15 gas builds you guys are using in TvT? I've been going gas first in TvT for quite a while now, and while my win rate is quite high I wanna learn some alternative builds. I'm so far having good success with 15 gas into expansion, but I play more defensive that I think I have to. Is Innovation's 15 gas into marine/hellion/medivac pressure still good? How are you guys following up with this opener?

I do that Innovation build, and as I harass with the hellions/medivac, I build a tank, drop a 3rd CC, then eventually build 4 more factories and go mech.

How do I deal with 2-2 Chargelot Archon timing? (7 gates on 2 bases)
Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.

Probably mines now, should be very effective with the buff, and some bunkers

In TvP, do marines become obsolete in the late game and replaced by ghosts and mines?
