Hi my hotkeys sometimes randomly change ingame. I haven't had any issues with this before using the core layout.

(I am using TRMM 0.3.2_Nordic because I don't need 10 hotkeys and want access to the screen hotkeys in one click)

That's a really old version. I'm not sure why that would be happening, Jdub might know.

That would probably be an issue with your BNet client or with an external program you are using. Is there any program that you use consistently while playing SC2?

If it's not an external program, then are you using WoL or HotS?

I think we'll need a more specific example of which hotkeys are changing in order to debug this. I haven't heard about or experienced anything like this before.

For exemple when i am trying to build something with my SCV it switches from the key right of P (Å) to the key right of (Å)
It also switches from + to \. I am playing WoL. The screen hotkeys also change, TAB button change, it just becomes a mess. The most core hotkeys like P,O,I and J still works fine though.

The hotkeys also switches in the hotkey bar in the menu, so I have to go and change them back again. It can be really frusterating sometimes. I remember when I played in playhem Diamond EU semi final, and my opponent wasn't accepeting me pausing the game to change my hotkeys back to normal.

Should I upgrade my hotkeys to the newest verson and just change the screen hotkeys so they fit me? Is that a possible solution?

PS: I really love the setup though. My hand is quite small so the compact setup has really helped me imporve my game.

Are you modifying TheCore to personalize it? Sometimes when I try to do so the hotkeys reset back. It probably results because the game messed up and changed the hotkeys saved on BNet, but not on the layout document.

Hi ExpectCreep,

It could not be something silly like you use alt + shift in your setup which switches the keyboard language between norweigan and english? sound like is the special characters that changes..

JaKaTaK:
Thx for all the hardwork with the core. I have been using default layout since release, too lazy to figure out good hotkeys myself. I swithed about 2 months ago and it is a brand new game for me now. So much more fun when you feel like you are in control.

Great work everybody involved!

Best

wow, this layout has gotten kinda complicated. I used it back when it first came out, but now I am totally confused. Which layout am I? small, medium, large? I can't tell. I looked at the datasheet and such but its too much info and I don't really know what I want.

edit: I realize small, medium, large, corresponds to the relative size of your hand but doesn't that just mean the small layout has the fastest key travel time? just seems so complicated, i liked it when there was one layout for lefties and one layout for righties.

It's not that complicated. You're the first person I've heard of to get confused by it.

"Small" just has all the keys besides the ones pressed by the thumb shifted one key closer to the thumb. It does not have the fastest key travel time because that would involve shrinking the keyboard, which I wish we could do.

Umavfx: Thank you so much! That was what chnaged it, if I randomly get over at that side of the keyboard agin, I can quickly change it back to normal! Now I am not going to have frusterating losses just because my hotkeys f*ck up.

How do people feel about the whole "optimized down to the keyboard level" aspect of the core? I've used Darkgrid since it was new but since it's more or less discontinued, I feel somewhat forced to switch to HotS and I'm currently contemplating either learning TheCore, or going back to normal Grid. The thing I felt about Darkgrid was that it was obviously amazing, but I felt sort of locked to my computer, if I went to a friends house and he didn't have extra buttons on his mouse, I literally couldn't play since my hotkey setup revolved around having 2 extra mouse buttons. With TheCore, it seems even "worse" since there are so many variations depending on your hands, your keyboard, size of keyboard etc... it even seems more or less unusable on laptop keyboards.

I'm just kind of thinking whether it's worth only being able to play SC2 at home on your own keyboard to get some better ergonomics, when you can just tweak normal grid to work "OK" and work the same on all keyboards all the time.

I guess you can fix the laptop- and mouse button problem by taking the keyboard and mouse with you. I know it is a little bit more to carry, but it is worth it imo. Now I am talking about LANs with friends, I don't know if you bring your laptop constantly with you and play Starcraft on it, because then it obviously won't work.

Hey guys. Hopefully this is the right place to ask. I need to replace the "ctrl" key with the tab key for easier control group assigning. The built it system doesn't seem to allow me to do this, any tips?

It can be completely spontaneous though. Say you're at a friends house, drinking beer, watching some MLG or whatever. Then you decide to have a drinking game on ladder, taking turns doing dumb shit like Funday Monday. You're not going to bring your keyboard and mouse to every party you go to which happen to have SC2 players.

Or lets say you're going to a summer cottage over the weekend. You bring your laptop, but you don't expect to play SC2, so you don't bring your keyboard and mouse. Then there's some downtime and you go "damn, wish I had that mouse and keyboard".

Thanks in advance

Np man, just download the most recent files. They should be 99% set for HotS. There are a couple of ability changes that may have reverted some hotkeys to their defaults, but it shouldn't be difficult to make the proper replacements

Imo the benefits very easily outweigh the occasional inconveniences. That's only my opinion, though. If the nuisances are too much for you, then there isn't much else to do other than not use TheCore. Although I would suggest trying Chameleon before going to personalized Grid.

Not much else to say except what is in the first video of the OP.

Many of you have been asking the advantages of TheCore over other layouts. I started a "Why TheCore?" video series. This is the first video:

is there any way to remap the key for queueing up commands (holding down shift in normal) because my present keyboard has a small shift key on the left side (using right hand on keyboard) what makes it kind of a mess to thumb press it because it is completely covered by the strg key. Using zlm right now queued burrow (shift+h) becomes somewhat of a gambling game because of spread thumb+pinky action.
Just switched from zlm 0.3 to the zlm0.5 and have to congratz you, becuase the switch wont be that intuitive but better for most part as i can see them right now
