I had a couple, but i thought id swallow my frustration and give this core at least a month, that's why i edited my post Im a Diamond and i've been using the Core for quite some time, but i must also say that my patience for every new release is making me wonder if i shouldn't ditch it altogether
As the older version (6.2) isn't available for download this means i cannot play any ladder games or any decent games at all :/
How do i assign the - to navigating control groups again? as soon as i bind it all the other CGS get screwed up..

I've been playing Starcraft since it came out when I was about 6 (Been awaiting Starcraft 2 for as long as anyone)... Today, I'm 23 and I found this just a few days ago, I've played a few vs AI games with the Terran Right Handed Standard config and naturally, it is difficult to train my fingers to use a new home location and step away from using easy to remember commands (If blizzard changed the hot-key for barracks I would have lost my mind). I love what you're all doing here, agree with some of the previous posts about the need for a wiki to document this and if I had less than 2 jobs, 2 kids and a wife then I would throw something together.
Anyway I strayed from my question and reason for signing up altogether, here goes; Has the chameleon version been completely abandoned? I like it the best when looking through the visualizer but can only find [R]ace[H]and[S]ize layouts for download.
And thank you very much for putting the effort into something like this and releasing it publicly with so much depth.

History of the beta. It doesn't extend very far back because github hasn't been used for very long, but it's better than nothing.

I just tried to use this, left handed medium sized version, and make roaches was bound to "K". Is that right?

On QWERTY keyboards, K would be used by righties. The core puts your keyboard hand on the wrong side for typing so that you can easily use the thumb for CTRL and SHIFT.
For example, I use qwerty TRM (my right hand controls the mouse) and my home row for my left hand is JIOP

Otherwise there would be a lot more complaints.
As such, I'm sure he is familiar with the way it is supposed to be. Either way, we need more information to assess the problem.

Nope. Standard US.

I downloaded and installed "TheCore ZLM Beta.SC2Hotkeys" on May 4th from the Skydrive account, but there seems to be at least one mistake, namely that the "spawn roaches" command or whatever is "K", which is the default for standard left handed I think.

Thanks. I'll go through all my command keys and compare with that. And someone should fix it in the file, assuming my computer isn't doing something weird.
BTW, I still am not sure I understand layered injects. I have watched the video a couple times but I'm still not really getting it. I'd appreciate some guidance.
According to that chart, I should have my hatcheries and queens on W?
And there's one control key that is recalled just by pressing W, but another one that is recalled by pressing Shift + W?

I'm right handed- we use JIOP (pinky on J, index on P) instead of GREW. You'll have to figure out what keys mean what, but it shouldn't be too hard. I tried to put the left handed keys in parenthesis, but I could have gotten them wrong.
My injecting queens are on shift+P (shift+W for you). Spawn Larvae is O (E for you). Hatcheries are on P (W for you), but that's doesn't factor into this. I put my main hatch camera on shift+K (shift+F), my natural on shift+L (shift+D), and my third on shift+; (shift+S)
Injects work like this: 1. Hold down shift the entire time with thumb
2. Press POK with index, middle, and ring fingers. You can do this pretty much all at once, though I think you have to hit P slightly before hitting O. This selects your injecting queens, readies spawn larvae, and moves your camera to your main base. (For lefties, I believe you press WEF instead)
3. Move your cursor to the hatchery and leftclick 4. Press L with ring finger. This moves the camera to your natural. (For lefties, I think this is D) 5. Leftclick. You do not have to move your mouse at all, since the camera should be centered directly over the hatch. 6. Press ; (for lefties, I think this is S) 7. Leftclick
And that's it. If I have more bases to inject, the cameras for them go on shift+ 9 0 -, so I would just move my fingers up and hit those keys to inject more bases.

Oh, and one thing that might be screwy- adding to/remaking the inject queen control group for righties is on ctrl/shift+ctrl K
So when your queens pop, you select them and hit ctrl+K to add them to a control group, and then when you want to re-select your inject queens you do it by hitting shift+P
I know that on ZRM for some people adding to that control group was on an incorrect key (just like you said the ZLM roach key was).
For you, I believe the key to add to that control group should be F. For the record, the "spawn roach key" you were asking about earlier should also be F for you.

Tritone, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
You can look through my past posts to find an explanation of why the "free cams" are on the keys they are on, and how to spread creep using them effectively.
edit: actually, I tried to find that, and I've got so many posts in here that I couldn't. I found a post I made about it on another forum, so I'll copy/paste it here. Again, these are the keys for ZRM. You'll have to do the translation from righty to lefty yourself.
The other two cams I use for spreading creep. Cam 1 is recalled with ctrl+H and set with ctrl+I Cam 2 is recalled with ctrl+O and set with ctrl+J Spread Creep is bound to U. "Choose ability or AI target" is also bound to U, which lets me rapid-fire spread creep just by holding down U and moving my mouse around, rather than left-clicking.
You set the cams up over the locations where you're spreading creep, then Hold CTRL down the whole time Put your fingers on HUIO (pinky H index O) H goes to your first creep place Click tumor (selects all tumors since you're holding ctrl) Move your mouse around while holding U to spread your tumors Click queen if there is one Hold U to make her set a tumor Scoot your camera forward a bit so it's over these newly created tumors Press I reset your camera Press O to go to your second location Click tumor (selects all since you're still holding ctrl) hold U and spread tumors Click queen if there is one Hold U and spread tumors Move your camera forward a bit so it's over the new tumors Press J to set your cam as you move your fingers back to their resting position (JIOP).
And that's that.
I know that sounds really convoluted and crazy, but it's actually really fast and smooth.
I believe that the left handed version of HUIOJ would be HTREG

Yeah so this may be what is confusing me. According to the spreadsheet, there are two control groups, the commands for which are as follows:
Create control groups: Control + Shift + W Control + Shift + R
Add to control groups: Control + W Control + R
Recall control groups: W Shift + W
Recommended control groups: Hatcheries: W Injecting queens: W
So, injecting queens should be on Shift + W, and hatcheries should be on (no shift) W, right?
Thanks a lot for your help. I'm 95% sure I'm gonna switch to this. The standard for lefty keys don't work well for me for zerg.

As a nearly complete newbie to SC2, I'm jumping into modified hotkeys including TheCore as I don't have much muscle memory to unlearn. Because I'm so new, I don't have a favored race yet that I "main". That said, it seems like Zerg is one of the more - needy - races when it comes to hotkeys because of injecting and creep spread. What is the suggested layout? I realize the obvious answer would be 'random', but my fear is learning it and realizing down the road that I want to main Zerg afterall and having to relearn... would it be better to use the Zerg layout even when playing P or T, swap between layouts based on race, use P or T and 'suffer' with Z, etc?

Maining Zerg with Random layout shouldn't be a problem, it still works really well. I tried swapping layouts when playing with different races, but the layouts are way too different to be swapped conveniently.
