I did say that he shouldn't follow it strictly:

... I suggest following (loosely in your case perhaps) TheStaircase...

but I guess I wasn't very clear about it

A modified version such as something like what you suggested would be ideal.

Greetings to TheCore experts:

I have recently decided to get myself off of my shitty abysmal hotkeys (I use all number keys 1-0 and have nothing remapped) and figured I might as well do it right and do something that is ideal and efficient. I'm interested in switching to TheCore, however, I primarily play HotS - is there a hotkey file/system established for this? I read in the OP that they plan to continue updating it for HotS throughout, but I'm not sure if that is actually done.

Also, if anyone wants to help me switch or has any tips other than the OP, it would be much appreciated! I apologize if these questions have been answered before - a 115 page thread is quite intimidating, but I'm glad so much work has gone into this!

(I'm a right handed terran with either small or medium hands - not sure).

Also... unsure if I'm supposed to be using TLM or TRM - it says in the OP that it's named by your dominant hand, but all the keys in TRM seem to be on the right side of the keyboard. Is that normal? edit: never mind, seems like it is. Carry on!

Welcome to the fold, Poke!

It is indeed rough going for the first few days, but after I was used to it, my APM went up and (almost more importantly) the hand aches / fatigue I got from longer play sessions all but disappeared. If you have a couple months until your next major tournament I definitely recommend sticking it out and switching.
You'll worry less about what people think about you when you realize how seldom they do.

I've been playing with the core for a while now. It makes things soooo much easier. I can have multiple control groups, doing multiprongs while macro/injecting like a boss. The only thing I am wondering about is tendon/muscle tightness on the back of my JIOP (left) hand, and as a result I usually don't play as many games. Im pretty sure i have the proper posture according to the OP. I am getting more fatigued and sore than I was when I was playing standard layout. Interestingly, with the core I find my hand has to move less. but I do more work with angling my fingers rather than moving my whole hand. Anyone else have similar experience?

You may be getting used to a new use of your muscles, not 100% sure why that is happening to you. Have you tried a different size?

This looks pretty cool, i'm going to start working with it soon. I do have a question though, is there a way to make any button on the keyboard function like alt/ctrl/shift? I'd like to move the function of the ALT key to the Left Arrow for comfort, but can't get this to work through either the in-game menus or modifying the text file.

All I freaking want is to move my attack key from T to A without screwing up everything else on the grid. Their was a program called WARKEYS back when I was playing WC3 that accomplished this perfectly. I'm shocked that no one has been able to replicate a program like it.

@injection
You cannot do this without 3rd party programs or hardware modification on your keyboard (as far as I know). Also, I don't think its tournament legal in most situations.

No reason to use the load hotkey as far as I know. It is intentional.

Considering giving up... way too much work =\

I don't know how to work on this without raging and leaving games after 5 minutes lol

I can only play for like 30 min at a time before I get so pissed off I go waste a few hours

Same here. It is totally different.
Way worse than switching from wasd to numpad or arrow keys for playing a simple game as CS 1.6.

Indeed, it is quite difficult. However, i think it is well worth the painful first couple weeks. I recommend using the hotkey trainer map to train your muscle memory for building units and buildings, and using a unit tester map to practice your army movement / unit ability control.

When I learned TheCore, I actually did give up after the first few days. I slept on it a couple nights, did a bit of practice with the hotkey trainer maps, and then decided to give it another go. All I can say is you have to accept that you will temporarily suck, but it will be worth it
