First off, THANK YOU FILTER! These guides are awesome!
Secondly this:

Playing Zerg myself somewhere around platinum I found these benchmarks regarding Stephno's style quite helpful (8 and 11 minutes in particular): http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=324733
Imo doing this blindly on ladder is compareable to the gold league strategy shown here and allows you to focus heavily on injects and spawning the sh*t out of these larvae while keeping up with overlord production. Also creep and overlord spreading!
All minerals and larvae go into drones and buildings at first (except those 4 lings/queens) as well as all early gas goes into tech, from ~8 minutes on everything goes into roaches / overlords.
In general aim for 2 hatcheries and 2 gas done by 6:25, 4 queens, 60-65 drones and 4 gas as well as roachwarren and evo done by 8 minutes and max as well as attack at 11 minutes with +1 speedroaches.
To mix things up my ideas would be: - vs Terran : 15 Hatch / 16 Pool / 3rd before gas sling / bling / roaches - ling / bling / infestor - vs Zerg: 15 Pool / 15 Hatch, no early 3rd, +2/+2 roaches - maybe an early Spine or two?
Also checking my Larva injection and spawning ratios in sc2gears and comparing them to pro replays helps me a lot.

So, just to train oneself those mechanics, could you use yabot set to 10 minutes and repeat it over and over again, till you hit those benchmarks consistently and head into ladder games after you perfected them in yabot? or how could you approach this?
Thanks!

If you search for Filtersc (on NA) you'll see a trainer one of the guys following put together, it will hold you to the benchmarks and display your scv count so it's easy to just reset at ten minutes and try again if you wiff.

Your benchmarks are exactly what I was looking for, and your videos are clear and concise. As an engineer-in-training, I love numbers of all sorts, and having a quantitative report of my progress really helps me improve. Thanks for your work! Replay
The best part of that replay was you rebuilding your scv's after taking pretty brutal losses to those hellions

Haha yeah, that's why I wanted to share that particular replay If that had happened before watching some of your videos, I probably would have panicked and flopped somehow (has happened more times than I care to remember). I haven't been practicing against computers so I'm not hitting all the timings (trying to burn bonus pool and not a ton of time to play), but wow this had made an incredible difference. I've only dropped two games out of the last eight, and I'm facing (and owning) plat players as a rank 40 gold player. Watching gold videos now, then I'll work on refining the timings.

Those videos will be best suited to people that like my videos and appreciate the effort I put into them.
Classic :D
But really nice videos .. they helped me a lot in my play! Thanks for the good work!

Keep practicing mate, eventually you will get there. It takes time. Took me about a week of 3 hours play everyday to really break it into my mind what I needed to do. I am Protoss so i changed it a bit to suit me but I am sure that you can get it. Just keep practicing.

About the scouting video: how exactly do you practice this stuff? I'm not really sure how to approach it except maybe to watch a ton of pro replays and try to read players using only one players vision...

does not work on eu bronze. people just build banelings only against it or tanks. an You just get melted doesn't matter if you have 30 more scv's doesn't matter that you have a bigger more expensive army. Your army just melts.

Try out some of his higher level stuff. Just cos you're in bronze doesnt mean you can use the siver league videos, or if you want to keep to real basic stuff then just throw up another expansion at 10mins and a load more rax, and then another expansion at 12:30 ish and even more rax and constantly attack almost all bronzes will not be able to handle it. The main thing he is trying to teach is solid mechanics not a 10min build order. So after the first 10 mins just continue what you did in the first 10mins and you should be fine. e.g. expanding, producing scvs (up until about 12:30 or else you will end up with 200/200 scvs if you do it all game lol) and marines. Even if he has siege tanks or banes, if you are constantly attacking he wont be able to move out and take anymore bases and eventually will run out of resources.
Also would help if you posted a replay so we can see if you are actually doing it right.

What's your marine count on 10 min and do you continue spending your money properly (keeping it low by marine and rax production when necessary)? Aim for 50 marines at 10 minutes.

If you really want to improve please post a replay, there is nothing special about eu bronze.

People always harass when I'm trying to pull off the build and it throws me off tremendously help!
|
bbrian remember you often think you are further behind than you are when being harassed. It costs the enemy money to harass you so just carry on building SCVs and try to remember the building groupings. Then just continue as normal, building stuff when you can afford it.
|
Also when people are harassing you, they're usually not macroing or teching up properly at home. If you lose 4 scvs to a reaper, you're still even if your opponent forgot to make 4 scvs during the harass.

thanks jockmcplop and shadowdrgn that gave me the confidence to keep on playing without breaking down

I can highly recommend Filter's tutorials. The videos are well made, well thought out and you look fwd to hearing that calm and clear voice Do you have ladder anxiety? Then use Filter's 10 & 14 mins benchmarks to focus on. Win or lose, I go thru my replay, look at my food, SCV and tech and see if I hit the benchmarks. When I play against comp I can usually get all the benchmarks, when I ladder though things look a little different! But all in all, I feel I am learning a lot more because I am focused on certain aspects of the benchmark (e.g. getting 50-52 SCVs by the 10 min mark). So if e.g. last game I dropped my Ebay too late, then next couple of games I will focus on getting it at the right timing (win or lose). That way loses don't feel bad and wins doin't make me scared to play more. I don't know if you guys also have this same issues, but whenever I win over 5 games in a row, I get really nervous cos I don't wanna mess up my streak! But with a benchmark/goal in every ladder game, I don't focus on such silly things (in the end it's not about winning or ladder rank, its about getting better mechanics, and solid build orders). It's also fun to use small variations (e.g. faster Ebay if you scout DTs/banshees) and see how it affects the build. Filter, you have single handedly saved my ladder experience, and made it a more relaxing experience! Thanks man

Wow I am a bronze level player (was silver when game first came out but i quit for awhile) and after watching these I have only lost 2 of maybe 10 games. I also just beat a gold level player. Unfortunately I can't hit all the benchmarks yet (I do alright until I have to micro as well, or game goes past 15 min) But I have already noticed a tremendous difference in my play!
Thanks!
Also where would I post replays so I could get tips?

Just a quick update filter . Been using your videos as much as possible sense I've come back to the game. Right now I just got into top8 plat after beeing stuck in the silver league for almost 5 seasons. My apm has gone from 30-40 range to high 70's. And I feel I'm still getting better as the season progresses all due to your videos. I've beaten high Diamond's and a few master players just by out macro'ing them in the beginging and having more stuff in the end. The one thing I'd like to note , that I've found to help. Is to talk outloud your stradegy as your playing. Tell yourself okay build an scv / drop 2 more rax / take expo / get add-on's for rax / scan now / scout over here. If you keep telling yourself this stuff outloud, I find it really helps. And also take notes on every lose and see what you did wrong and work on that.
Again cheers mate , would love to friend you in game .

Either post them here, or post them in the Terran help me thread :D
I've also updated the OP with my stream/channel for those interested in seeing more. I'll be adding in my replaypacks sometime tomorrow after I play a few more games.
