1. Lets say i open with 2 rax( one reactor and one tech lab for maruaders) looking to put some pressure on the protoss around 6.45. What if the protos goes for 2 gate expo and have a decent army by the time i pressure? Do i bring scvs along to pressure him? Or do i just poke around and fall back and bunker up?
2. What is the appropriate response to a protoss who goes for 3 gate robo and then expo? ( Assuming i had gone for 2 rax expo) If i pressure them at 6.45, they will have an immortal out which will destroy my army.
3. I find it so hard to deal with a zealot heavy army with archons and high templars. When i emp their high templar they just merge them to form archons which just destroy my army. How do i deal with such a composition.
4. What are the maps that protos like to do cannon rushes generally? Do we need to scout early on those maps?
5. How many scvs to bring out to destroy one pylon during a cannon rush attempt? If the cannon goes up, what else can the terran do?
1. Generally a toss will be able to hold off a 2 rax with 2 gates pretty easily. The best thing to do is bring one scv, poke at his front and pull back. Unless you manage to snipe one of his units early in the game, I really wouldn't bother engaging. 2. 2 Bunkers, proceed as normal. 3. Spam EMPs and hope for the best. This composition is ridiculously difficult to deal with. It takes 3 emps to take down an archon's shields. If they have 5 archons spread across their army you're going to need a lot of emps to deal with everything. 4. Cannon rushing against terran is just bad. I've never encountered it in 1v1. If you really need to defend, all it takes is one bunker. 5, Pylons aren't the primary target in a cannon rush. If you're really scared, just pull 3-5 scvs and attack the cannons. Try and place a bunker ASAP. If the bunker goes up then it's an ez win. If you can't get the bunker up, the best thing to do is just lift your cc and plant it somewhere else.

Don't panic, don't try killing the pylon, just build a bunker next to your mineral line.. and you've won. Chase the zealots with marines, when he tries to turn around and kill them, just run back to the bunker. Drop some more rax in the range of bunker and once you have enough marines to kill the zealots and pylon, just go to his base and finish him Here's a VOD of MarineKing winning against this build while opening gasless FE: http://www.gomtv.net/2011super1/vod/65483He didn't even scout it until there were 4 zealots in his base, but he still held rather easily. The problem here was obviously that after the probe killed your rax builder you didn't immediately send another scv to finish it.. which was really stupid ~~. As I said, should've finished the rax, cancel the refinery and build a bunker somewhere close to your mineral line.
thank you

Against protoss gateway tech you're mostly relying on M+M+M with ghosts. Against an ht-heavy opponent who's also using archons and chargelots, try not to overmake marines-- they are very vulnerable to storms. Use lots of ghosts and emp heavily to deny his spellcasting-- your EMP, including radius, should outrange anything he can reasonably do, including feedback. If he's light on the stalkers, he's also less able to defend drops, so drop aggressively to assert map control.
Any professional Terran has solid enough TvP you can learn from it, but I particularly like the VoDs of oGsTheSTC due to his macro-intensive style. I watch the non-pro Sterling and Trump's streams to learn how to play more, but ST_Bomber also streams and is a notoriously good pro terran.

What is a good response to a zerg that is going late gas into a couple of roachs, asuming i open standard 4 hellion expand into stim/seige timing, the zerg is capable of getting 47 drones to my 30 scv's (constant production). I haven't found marauder timing attack to be that great.

Don't sac your Hellions. Deny creep spread, get a bunker, and try to take a 3rd while denying his. If he goes Roaches Mutalisks will be very delayed so don't worry about them until about 12 minutes. Grab some Marauders and do some drops and continue to harass. If you can get a third before him you're golden!

I haven't found marauder timing attack to be that great. If you only get 4 hellions straight into seige tanks, you should be safe vs any type of roaches without needing a bunker. The standard stim/seige timing at around 9:30 with about 20 marines and 4 tanks is what you should do to try and kill the zerg. Dont let your hellions die, just run them around and kill creep with them.

Hello,
im posting 2 TvTs against Mech they are both against the same Player (it was cup ;D) it would be very nice when you could analyze the Replays. On Shakuras he contains me i dunno how to react properly. On the pther map i tried to drop him, but it wasn´t succesful at all i think and the engagment was just horrible. How to fight mech?
I hope you can help me to get a better gamer :D
Thanks in advance

Hey guys, need some help in analyzing what went wrong in a recent TvZ of mine. Im mid masters and always go for hellion opening into mech in TvZ.
Replay: http://drop.sc/79838
It feels that I just got totally outplayed, he was maxed at around 15 minutes mark and just proceeded to pretty much roll me. I couldnt really stop his expansions going up and tried to stay on equal bases but meh.. also didnt really make a push until too late late which might have been the reason I lost but dunno, I didnt really have much of an army because I took a fast third. Was it just that I macroed worse than him or what? Any help appreciated, cheers.

The only viable 2 rax I've seen is done only on very specific maps and positions. I saw it on a good Korean player's stream. Basically what he does is whenever the Zerg scouts him with overlord on Shattered Temple or Metalopolis, he immediately puts down a second rax on the edge of his base (in a location where he can then float it down to the ground for faster reinforcement time). The build itself is very simple - standard 12 rax, send SCV to edge of your base at about 11 supply to see if there's an overlord, if there is, then you either go for second rax at 13 or 14, at the edge of your base, and then float it down to the bottom as soon as its finished.
Rally marines to his base, and send 2 SCVs to start building bunkers at his ramp (your bunker should be going down as soon as your first rax is done). You can also bring another 3+ SCVs right after your first marine comes out to help defend the bunkers/marines. The only thing I don't know about this build is how good it is if the Zerg decides to pull all of his drones to stop your bunker from going up.
You can find a VOD of this at this link: http://www.twitch.tv/tslpolt/b/303033399
Go to about 27 minutes to see how he does it.

Hihi recently I have had lot of troubles in TvZ, and I think it is because of me going for too many inefficient drops. So here's my problem, against a zerg army without mutas drops are perfect, almost always cost efficient. But when my opponent has a good map awareness and mutas I'm totally lost, most of my drops get shut down even before they land, and I feel this really puts me behind army wise. I'm here as a young padawan looking for some advices about ideal timings for drops against zerg going mutalisks. Can someone help me please ?
|
You don't have to do drops vs zerg, but if you want to then do double drops, so that if one gets caught the other is almost certain to succeed.
Or consider other forms of harassment, cloaked ghosts, or hit squads of hellions.
Or just do a nice frontal attack if zerg has your harassment shut down.
|
The problem is that if I don"t drop I feel the zerg's macro is gonna overwhelm me, so I almost always try to get a drop around his 4th base timing so I can deny it. Without that I always feel behind.

Hello My Terran Brothers, I was wondering what the best way to defend a 2 base Roach/ ling/ bling bust in TvZ? DRG did this type of push in G1 of the Blizzard Cup...I usually open Reactor Hellion Expand into Marine/ Tank. I wall w/ a rax and two supply depots and then also wall at my natural. Is adding a couple of bunkers in/ behind the wall at the natural enough? What's the best way to scout this type of attack? How should you react once you see it?? TY in advance. Glhf

Hello! Give me some good builds against protoss that is working in master +

Hello mariners, two questions:
1. What is the proper way to deal with the 3 base Roach/Baneling + Drop attack shown in GSL recently? I think the games are Polt vs Leenock and MMA vs DRG, both on Antiga Shipyard. Is it possible to deal with this while going standard Marine/Tank/Medivac or do you need to incorporate some other unit (Marauder?).
2. Also assuming I'm going Marine/Tank/Medivac, how should I adapt when I scout an Infestor/Ling style with lots of upgrades? Probably going fast Hive, usually for Ultralisks. I know drops become much more effective; are there unit composition considerations that should be made? Heard that getting more tanks than normal is correct, along with ghosts... is this true?
