why not play them and figure out which ones you like instead of following some mindless concept of "map meta"? even pros don't all agree 100% on maps
i never veto any maps because i like variety and don't like limiting myself by taking away situations that might pose a bigger challenge

Vetoing can also help you improve, as you'll have less variables to work with. I cant help you on which maps to veto tho. I think just picking out the ones you like/have highest winrate on should work out

I am back from a long time where I did not play. I am zerg. Is the idea to play a speedling double expand a good idea for gold league, or will I have a too hard time trying to defend it?

Not sure which matchup you're talking about. For the most part, I think 1-base speedling is a bad build; it's much better to go early expand -> speedlings + double ups OR single up + lair -> 3rd base.

Veto'ing allows for more targeted practice. I play random and don't veto in this pool (except old Daedalus) because I like to keep the game as fresh as I can! Others prefer to keep variables minimized (only 2P maps, only macro maps, cutting a certain texture, etcetera) for whatever reason.
None is better than the other - remember, you're playing because it is fun to you (hence the word play :D), so do whatever makes you happy!

I saw a build order website that allows you to mark things on like a time and press play to pass the time for each build order test. Anybody seen this before? I can't find the link by searching.

the standart opening in tvp is hax reaper and then 2 more hax one with tech lab and the other one with no addons..
my questions is, why this 3rd barracks has no addon soon?

I'd say it's not uncommon for players to go for a tech lab on the last rax to get double marauder production and combat shield along with stim (which you start as soon as the tech lab on the first rax is done). Can be seen among the builds in the Imbabuilds TvP section for example.
Edit: the case where you would skip the second tech lab is probably when you are sure that your opponent is going for an all-in and simply need to crank out more marines instead of tech.

The short answer: don't let it get there.
In TvT, I highly suggest just going marine/tank and focusing on your macro + positioning; this is the best way to improve in the matchup and by far the most stable composition (probably in the entire game).

I let a Protoss get a easy 3rd base without applying any pressure to him as he opened stargate and I had no AA. I took my 4th. Then realized he was going carriers. I took two more bases for the gas and went half-half hydras/corrupters. The hydras were for defense from earlier vray/phoenix play. He also got a mothership and ended up with a maxed army of mostly carriers with some vray and mothership support. I couldnt touch his army. He sniped my 4ish overseers and carriers took out everything.
Question is.. how does zerg deal with mass carriers/mothership besides not letting it get to that point.

I recently bought starcraft 2 (not with HoTs)
Bc I wanted to get back into it I haven't played any starcraft game in years when I would play BW I wasn't bad but I wasn't great I loved the game though and would love to play sc2
An keep up with it as I did with BW
My question is
What do you guys recommend I should to work my way up to getting better? And any helpful websites
I downloaded a bunch of replays last night
I play Protoss but would like to learn Terran
