so this question is more for terrans (i play toss) but with optimal scv production how long does it take to fully saturate your main base. obviously for zerg this is completely different and can't really apply and protoss should be a little faster than terran with a few chronoboosts used on the nexus

Terran bases will never be fully saturated----the MULES will always be able to break that.

But if you don't include the MULES, a typical base will get full saturation on minerals with 3 miners per patch.

Assuming a 8-mineral patch base:
Saturation: 24SCV + 6 for gas
That means:
30 SCV
2 supply depo
2 refinery

According to the build order calculator:
10 Supply Depot
18 supply depot
26 Supply Depot
26 Refinery
26 Refinery
29 SCV

Will finish on 6:48

Simple(Newb) Question:

I have a group of marines and some medivacs in one ctrl group(let's say I used ctrl group 1). I load all marines into medivacs til they are full but have a couple left on the ground. I then select just the medivacs and press ctrl+1 to overwrite my ctrl group and turn it into just the medivacs. I notice when I start moving the medivacs, the marines on the ground keep following them even though they are not bound to the same ctrl group.

How do I do the above properly/easily without having the marines follow the medivacs?

Thanks!

It's because your marines are still trying to get into the medivac. Since you probably boxed all your marines to try to load. Just select your marines and move them a hex away and they will stop trying to follow it. There is probably better ways, but that's how I do it.

Um...hit 'S' to stop and cancel the follow order after loading and before grouping is much more faster...

Why exactly zerg needs more expansion than other races?

If zerg units are cheaper, why they need more money? I know they are no cost effective but if they are really cheeper than terran/protoss units, then they should not need more money and thus not more bases.

They need larva, i know that, but why they just dont build them inside existing base?

They don't need 1 more base. See lalush's analysis on macro for more information.

I had lings/hydra. He just graviton beamed all the hydras I had.

Is the best response to just have more units?

If you're having less hydras than phoenix, chances are that you're getting out macroed.

Zerg's strength definitely lies in numbers.

I just started playing about 2 weeks ago, and I was curious why players continuously highlight their base/mines? I noticed this in about every stream I watched on jtv.

I believe you select all the dropships, and d-click-d-click-d-click-d-click... really fast, clicking on each dropship.

to chornoboost the nexus, throw down mules on the minerals, or inject larvae.

in BW it was so you could send your workers to mine (no automine) so there might be some old habits showing themselves.

i think actually if you tell a drop ship to move somewhere and then in the portrait you click the unit you want to drop it will drop and keep moving at the same time

MrBitter (Flabulous) is known for his 12 weeks with the pros series. In one of his last games in the "how to stop 4 gate" episode, his opponent went 4 gate with blink, and he holds it off on Xel'Naga, which is by far one of the worst maps for blink abusing a zerg.

http://mrbitter.blip.tv/file/4711503/

The game I mentioned starts at 1:47:00. I'd recommend watching the entire episode, and I'd strongly recommend all of his other episodes as well. He puts a lot of content up on blip at

http://mrbitter.blip.tv

and lots of his own coaching of lower level players goes up on youtube, at

http://www.youtube.com/user/MrBitterTV

I love this guy, just in case you couldn't tell.

OK all of you have said the correct method, I'm going to say it in a more non-pro way:

With all your dropships still selected and moving, click on the 'drop' button, or hit the hotkey for it ('D'). Do not click anywhere else until next:

Next, click on one of the dropships, as though as telling them to drop units on top of the dropships. The dropship that's clicked on will begin to unlaod all its units while moving.

Repeat the 'D', click on dropship, 'D', click on dropship until all your dropship have been given a click.

I think you mean ''falange'' (I think that's how you spell it). A Phalanx is an ancient army formation of spearmen.

No. It doesnt say that zerg dont need more bases than other races. And besides that, it revolves only around mineral income. Zerg just needs gas so much.

After 3 third base, zerg expands purely because of gas.

I've seen many higher level terrans do this with their dropships. What they do is fly over an area that they are going to drop on and they begin droping one troop after another as the medivac is still flying. How do they do that?

phalanx is actually correct. you're thinking phalanges which is just more than one phalanx. but you're right that it is *also* a formation of soldiers with interlocking shields...

back to the point, this post made my frickin' day. i had NEVER thought to use that part of my pinky and i've always hated using the pad of my pinky so i used to use my thumb. definitely gonna try out that pinky knuckle now
