Then out of nowhere comes 50 banshees and vikings and blows me away, meaning he's sneaked out somewhere and being a Bronze noob, I've missed it. The question is; Is it best to patrol 1 air unit around expos every now and again or have a marine on every one, which could be 8 marines + when facing a lame turtling. I'm just wondering what the safest and most effective option would be. Thanks! ![]()

Question 1) (well, 2 but let's not get picky...) I fear that if i don't wall in vs zerg they'll rush in and smash the shit out of my SVC's, or 50 rines will come in after 6 minutes and my bunker will be decimated with my SVC's. At least with a wall in I'm protected slightly and have a couple more minutes to sort my shit out. I want to not wall in and feel confident that I can hold off an early cheese/rush. A link to a thread would be good, or a quick guide which i can understand and easily put into practice Question 2) I've read the ladder analysis thread and it's great. One thing wasn't answered, maybe it was. But my question is, is the threshhold for promotion done via win percentage? And if so, does the threshhold get diluted by the amount of games you've played. So if the threshold is... 60% (for example) from Bronze to Silver, and i've played 1000 and won 500, would i need to get another 100 wins to be promoted compared to another 10 for someone who has 50% win ratio who has played 100...? If this makes sense I'd appreciate a reply. thanks lol. I may have misread the matchmaking and ladder system but it was overly mathematical and it would take me a long time to follow it. Thanks a lot ![]()

Win ratio and number of games doesn't matter. Promotion is based on your MMR being high enough. To make your MMR much higher, you need to beat opponents that have higher MMR than you. After each game, take a look at the league that your opponent is in. If almost all of your games are against people in the league higher than you, you are probably close to a promotion.

1 - what hotkey setup to use for mutliple nexus? I usually have each base on a separate key (0 main, 9 natural, 8 third) but I'm sure I've seen some players hotkeying all their nexus on one key. I understand you can make better use of chrono this way, and also macro quicker, but I quite like the ability to jump to each base using that key. 2 - if fighting MMM, is it worth targeting down the medivacs, while taking fire from the marines and marauders? from a toss perspective.

Today, I lost 2 matches (-10 and -13 pts) and won 1 game (+24 pts), and got promoted to platinum after the 3rd game. I have 979 points in the new division though!? the math doesnt add up 1111-10-13+24 = 1112 pts (which is not 979) what just happened? (this is me: http://www.sc2ranks.com/us/585022/canavarr)

Now I'm back up to +20 and i hope to get promoted within the next week or so. Question 1) (well, 2 but let's not get picky...) A link to a thread would be good, or a quick guide which i can understand and easily put into practice the point of walling in versus zerg is that even if they don't massively outplay you, speedlings and banelings and get in your base and wreck shit. because speedlings are fast and because it's gonna be hard to micro against banes. and because lings are melee, and marines are ranged. so people tend to wall in against zerg. there is no real point to wall in against terran. you have the same ranged units, so they can shoot you over your wall. a siege tanks can take out a supply. you die only to a straight up push up your ramp only if you were massively outmacroed, or you went for some tech build without a bunker and they went for 3 rax or something. and it takes like 4 seconds to kill a depot with marines. not really sure what terran cheese is popular lately, but that depot won't really save you...and it will suck a lot to get supply blocked during the fight...

The guy sat there with turrets and rines and seiged tanks, every time i got close my shit would get blown away. His starports weren't at that base, he'd sneaked out and teched up outside. Just me not doing enough really.

(this is me: http://www.sc2ranks.com/us/585022/canavarr) When you are promoted or demoted, your points are reset to your spent bonus pool +73. In your case, at the moment I looked at your profile, the maximum possible bonus pool was 3061, and you have 2155 bonus pool available. That means you have spent a total of 3061 - 2155 = 906 bonus points. 906+73 = 979 which is exactly your current points.

And, if I'm playing as toss, do I need to expand if I see a FE going down for the zerg?

And, if I'm playing as toss, do I need to expand if I see a FE going down for the zerg? -Because their units are generally observed to be weaker (and cheaper) and they need more hatcheries to produce more units -yes and no. Do some more research and you will discover something called a Build Order in SC2. There are many of these, and they usually apply to the early part of the game (much like an opener in chess). Expanding is completely based on the strategy you would like to implement in your gameplay. An aggressive strategy usually stays on one base for longer, a more passive opening strategy would expand earlier.
