There is a phase in the mental checklist where I look at my minimap, and then look at my money. As I try to tap quickly between my production structures at hotkeys 4,5,6 (or more) I get all the production bars confused and I just can't figure out what production bar belongs to what hotkey. If I try to slow down, I cant keep up with the tasks in the mental checklist. What is the preferred order of tapping between those keys? One option might be to go like minimap -> prod bars -> money rather than minimap -> money -> prod bars, so you have less eye travel. Another strategy is to use "ally colors" so that your stuff is green and your enemy's stuff is all red, making the minimap check easier since you're just looking for red stuff. What race you are, and kind of production hotkeys you use affects this. As a terran player, I check CC, then Barracks/Factory, then Starport in quick succession.

I'm a Protoss player and I replicated the drill of the constant scv-marine-marauder production with 4. gateway building zealot 5. nexus 6. gateway building stalkers. I didn't asked about the race because I think it is less race dependent. Usually I play with w-warpgates 4-Robo 5-Nexus 6-Stargate

Usually I play with w-warpgates 4-Robo 5-Nexus 6-Stargate If it's pre-warpgate-tech, then the production mechanics are the same for protoss and terran :D I think it might be good to have Nexus at one "end" of your hotkeys (as either 4 or 6) since the units that come out of the nexus make 2-3x as fast as units that come out of robo or stargate. As a general rule, I always check CC first before anything else to make sure I have constant scv production, since those build the most quickly it's the easiest to accidentally forget to build them.

I can give 1 very small tip: Don't try to play faster than you are able to, see all that stuff as goals, then slowly work your way towards that speed.

Or is it just situationally dependent? I would never suggest splitting production. As zerg you have moments where you are safe, you should drone VERY hard then. Once you are no longer safe you should only make units until you are safe again. In lower leagues it may seem easier to just split production to always be safe, but you will not be able to keep up in higher leagues.

Does this mean as Terran you can feel comfortable being 1 base behind Zerg or should you still strive for even bases? First: This depends on your style. For marine tank you should always be looking to punish a greedy third, and you should be harassing any base after the 3rd. You should be mostly on the look out for over droning, you have to punish that very quickly before the zerg gets at 70 drones. If the third is at a normal timing you should not worry about this. But of course it's always best to get an as quick as possible third. As mech player you should constantly be looking to get your own third. You really only have one harassment option: hellions, you can't really deny bases with that, you should mainly be looking for drone kills and enough distraction to get a third. As bio player (Who still does that?) You must keep denying any base.

Note, F1 is idle-worker hotkey, so i'd recommend starting with F2's unless you want to change the other as well. Once you have changed hte "create location 1-8" scroll further down to "Jump to Location 1-8" and can change that as well to choose the activation button!

Zerg one base ahead in the early game is acceptable, but not ideal. Being on equal *saturated* bases is an indicator as to when you're at an advantage. Deny as many bases for as long as possible.

As Terran, how do you quickly, safely, yet efficiently work in upgrades to you build? I'm finding in my games that I get either too quick of an engineering bay, or too late of one, or if I get one in what I feel like a "timely" fashion, I suffer a lot in army composition and simply numbers. Is it something to be actually worked into the build? (Remember when it was standard to get a 5 minute engi bay to deal with DT's?) Is it something you should calculate into your multi-base income? edit: Wow, I posted this without completing my thought. Basically what I want to know, what is the best way to get upgrades in a timely fashion.

I just played against some terran on ladder and he did 1-rax, killed my drone with his first marine. I saw there was no gas so I thought it was going to be 1 rax expand or 1 proxy rax, made about 6 zerglings and scouted the most likely positions to a proxy rax, then I poked and saw him making depots and a bunker in front of his natural, tricking me into thinking 1-rax expand(he only showed me 4 marines). At about 6 minutes the guy walks into my nat with about 13 marines and a shitton of SCVS and I just have to gg.

Move your Dropship and than press D and click on the Dropship while it's moving. You have to have the Dropship selected, because D is the Dropship's hotkey for unloading. The Dropship will unload till you cancel the command or it's empty. You can micro the dropship and it won't stop unloading till it has no more units inside.
