50 Energy (FF) / 0.5625 (Energy regenerated per second) = 88.8888889 (seconds to regenerate Energy to make a FF). A FF is up for 15s so you need 88.88 / 15 = 5.92533333 / 6 Sentries to block the ramp forever.

What's the "golden ratio" of production facilities to mining bases for Terran? I've found for Protoss it was something like 4 warpgates, or 3 warpgates plus a "2nd tier building" (ie. robo, stargate, templar tech) and was wondering if there was something similar for terran.

It varies. Factories, for example, produce entirely differently depending on what kind of addons they have, and what units you're making. They can either dump your gas (tanks) or minerals (reactor hellions). The same goes for starports. Barracks, on the other hand, work out to about 3 per base to use up all of your minerals-- but you'll want slightly less than this so you can expo, and have minerals for making upgrades and support units.

Depends on your enemy race and composition, also do you consider killing probes and getting 200/200 of fighting units? Then it would be Mothership, Few carriers, voidrays and colossi, immortals and archons as main ground army and sentry/ht for support and observer. Everything with max upgrades. Also if you are against P or Z and get a mothership you get phenix to kill observer or VR's to kill overseer.

Upgrade analysis (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=187603) says:

  • +1 Mech Attack: Tanks take 1 less shot on Zealots, Stalkers and Collosi, Hellions kill Zealots in 6 shots instead of 7, and Stalkers in 20 instead of 22 Shots. Thors kill Voidrays in 9 instead of 11 Shots (Sidenote: +3 Hellions makes kill Zealots in 6 shots, +3 Thors always kill Phoenixes in 3 Shots instead of 4, +3 Thors kill Colossi in 5 shots instead of 6, all regardless of upgrades, Thanks to Aoi_10)
  • +1 Mech Armor: Thors take more shots from every unit then Immortals. Hellions take 1 more hit from Zealots.


So it sonds like all things considered, keeping up +1 atk over zealots is a better choice, although +1 armor does have a noticeable effect as well.

You can use http://sc2calc.org/unit_production/terran.php to help figure this out.

A good rule of thumb is 4 buildings per mining base. A reactored building counts as two buildings, though since marines are sort of a mineral sink you can often have extra reactored (or no add-on) barracks.
Can we get an official definition of "all-in"? Please?

What is a good time to aim for when practicing maxing out food against AI? I'm trying to practice my macro by just playing against very easy AI and keeping my resources as low as possible. Currently it takes me ~16 minutes to hit 200/200 as terran, just going 1rax reaper FE into mass bio with medivac and a few tanks.

How fast would a progamer terran be able to max out if left alone?

Alternatively select SCVs and hit alt-R. In general, alt-X will toggle an auto-castable ability bound to X.

Hey guys, I just started playing Starcraft 2 and I was wondering if doing a 4 warpgate build is good or not? I looked up some basic Protoss builds and 4 Warpgate was one that kept coming up a lot. BUT I was talking to somebody and they said that there was some patch that came out that made the research time or something like that on warpgates 20 seconds longer and it isn't worth it to do that buld anymore. Is this true? Thanks in advance and sorry if this is in the wrong thread, like I said I'm new to Starcraft and also Team Liquid

It's a great build to have in your arsenal, but you should probably practice more macro-oriented builds (builds that focus on securing an early expansion).
