Do all spellcasting abilities work best by holding down the hotkey, rather than shift clicking? The only thing I can think of otherwise is infested terran. 3. When mass spellcasting, what's the best way to make sure units out of range don't stream in one at a time to cast their abilities, potentially getting them picked off one by one. 4. Do good players ever use the follow command?
1. Ctrl-click one unit icon of that type in the selection window. This will filter your selection to all selected units of that type.
2. "It depends". Shift-clicking lets you queue up actions so that they are all executed in rapid succession --- faster than you are able to click while holding down a hotkey --- which is great for spam-friendly abilities like infested terrans and snipes. However, shift-clicked actions can be lost if you accidentally overwrite the queue, be forever delayed if your units decide to attack a pack of unit first, etc. Holding down the hotkey and spam clicking doesn't suffer from these problems with the downside that it executes actions slower than shift-clicking.
3. There's no sure fire method to it other than good micro. Most people get around this by sending their armies along with their spell casters to tank damage. Knowing how your chosen method of delivering actions works also helps. For example, when you shift-queue actions, subsequent actions will be distributed among units of the control group that are not doing anything. Whereas, if you spam click while holding down a hotkey, the closest unit will move out to execute the spammed command until it cannot do so anymore.
4. Yes. For example, in ZvZ, it's sometime a good idea for your ling pack to follow banelings to ensure that they protect the banelings from individual lings trying to pick them off.

Im referring to when they actually choose Random as their race, not in the generic sense. Do I need to scout almost immediately to see if I need to wall off vs zerg for example?
I can come to my own conclusions I know but Im wondering if theres some established thinking
Under that scenario I would simply use the 9th scv incase it does turn out to be zerg, in which case they'll want to 15 hatch.

good idea to pair a raven with a viking and just have them patrol around my base? i have been getting better with spotting obs around my army, but i just can't spot it anywhere else in my base really. i've also been getting 2 ports lately, though with 2 reactors usually.
i mean it sounds good, but unless i skip some early medivacs or vikings, i can't get a raven out until a point where he most likely knows my general unit comp (and also i play MMMVG, so nothing crazy anyway lol). it could be cool to make sure he doesn't know about some tech switch...into...battlecruisers? what do you think? just sick of looking at my replays and seeing an obs in my base

Just build some turrets around and in your base, it should take care of the observers.

How come people say Terran late game isnt strong/good, and it has many flaws? Then how come Terran right now is quite balanced at the moment? Would like to see someone explaining why T late game isnt good.
And when people say T has worst tech switch, dont P also have at least similar thing? I agree Z can tech switch faster though, but I think T and P are about the same?

There are a large number of people who complain about the balance of the game, and this isn't the thread for it. People will always complain. Questions like these tend to draw more flames than legitimate answers, I'd consider rephrasing for maximum efficacy and minimum anger induction.

Zergs are still complaining, Protoss are complaining, and Terran are complaining. Basically people complain about their race all the time, because saying "I lost because I suck" and working to improve your game is usually harder than saying "this game is broken" and waiting for a patch.

Thanks for reply people.
But no....really i do NOT mean to star a war or anything, I am simply asking, why, people seem to say T late game is weak? Just curious thats all.

I think the reason some T find that it is weak late game is that they do not transition out of bio. They are saying their MMM ball cant finish the game if it goes on to long. Now tanks are great all game long but there is no Oomph they get at a certain time like colosus or broodlords. Thors are a good later game unit but bcs dont usually have a place in most peoples game plan. cept TvT but thats a different story.

It turns into a weird mishmash of pixels, looking a bit like the glitch pokemon MissingNo. This ONLY happens when I'm playing Starcraft 2 leading me to believe that there is either a bug in the game or I have a weird setting turned on that I need to turn off. I would take a screenshot but obviously the cursor doesn't show on screenshots.
So I guess my simple question is: How do i get rid of this problem?
You have an ati card right? I have the same problem sometimes.. see: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=140799

Hmm.....am I right in saying that people say T weak late game is because of their immobility and slow reinforcements?
I'd love to see a replay of where a T has a big battle, loses majority of it, then ends up being the winner, if possible?

Well, for some people like me it is. One of the reasons I stopped playing terran (1v1) was because of this. Those slow armies pissed me off too much. Early game they are great though.

Hi TL,
I have a simple question and never find any response. I am a zerg player and I experiment problems with group management.
When I want to create mutas for instance, I select all my hatch then press s to select larvae and press T to create muta. But I can have 25 larvae and I don't have enough money to get 25 muta. So only 7 muta are morphed for instance.
Then I would like to add this 7 mutas to my existing muta group. So with my selection of 25 larvae including the 7 morphing egg, I manullay remove all the larvae witch are not morphing i.e. 18 larvaes. This manipulation takes ages and I would like to know if a better way to do it is existing.
Thanks for your help

Say that your muta group is on 3 and all your hatches are on 5. I would do:
* 5 s t t t t t t t // make 7 mutas * ctrl-click an egg icon in the selection UI // select morphing larva * shift-3 // add mutas to group

Hi Kambing, * ctrl-click a muta icon in the selection UI // filters larva out of the selection =>by muta icon you mean morphing egg icon? I did not know this ctrl-click tip.I will try this evening but if it works it would be great! (I lose precious APM doing this thing...) Thanks a lot

Yeah that's correct; fixed that in my OP. Ctrl-clicking things in general selects only units of that type. So ctrl-clicking an actual unit will select all units of that type that are on-screen. Ctrl-clicking a unit icon in the selection UI will select only units of that type in the selection, etc.

I have a question related more to Liquipedia than SC2, but I don't know where else to ask it. On the wiki's list of professional players, all the players are highlighted in either blue, red, green, or, in two cases, pink. What do these colors mean? I tried browsing the help section and everything.
Thanks.

Terrans are blue. Zergs are red. Protoss are green. Randoms are pink.

What zerg unit counters Archons? Let's say I'm going ling/bane with 2/2 upgrades. 3-4 archons are going to decimate my army along with a handful of lot/stalker. What is the proper response? Roaches? Hydras? More lings with corruption for archons? Mutas?

It seems so obvious now. Thanks.
