Autumn Woods
Hi, just thought I'd post this random map I made a while back. 45 degree mirror but it can play out like a rotational mirror.
2 Player Maps + Show Spoiler +Fruitland + Show Spoiler +Fruitland TL + Show Spoiler +Comments: - Un updated version of Fruitland for GSTL! - There are two destructible lemons on either side of the map, and if you destroy one you get a lemon slide mineral with 500 minerals in it! - A worker must mine from this lemon mineral, and if killed, the 500 mineral is lost. - The destructible lemon respawns every 5 minutes. - Crazy, I know. - SPECIAL THANKS TO JACKY, HE IS AMAZING. Features: - At the main, there is one reaper path: however, it can be blocked with one supply depot. - The bridges are thin (most important) - Did I mention that the bridges are thin? - Area control is very important, especially in cross positions. It promotes army movement. - All spawns - rush distance is short but the path is very difficult for the defender. - Only 144x144. Space Efficiency. Gladiator + Show Spoiler +Legacy + Show Spoiler +Comments: - All spawn 4p 45° mirror map (I daresay first in SC2 that works hopefully) - Last map for a long time - Each spawn is drastically different. Close by air promotes air play and your third is far away but very far away from opponent as well. Close by ground plays out Naro Station in that the backdoor is very useful for harrass and it is very disparate from main path. Cross position allows for a lot of different options for thirds etc. - Island has rocks blocking only the minerals, which means it won't be THAT useful for terrain in the early game, but it can be used for special strategies and hopefully balanced feature. Haven Ravine + Show Spoiler +Description:I wanted to make a good-looking Haven map. Fun map as well.

I really like Paradise. I can see why it didn't get finalist position for TLMC2, but that;s one of the better maps I've ever seen. Reminds me of a 4 player Moon Glaive.

Misty Peaks looks cool. Reminds be a bit of a map I made a while back, but that one wasn't as good. Aesthetics look good, too. Any closeups?

Bunch of good maps. I always likes Apollo to me is designed a little like frost, which is also an awesome map.

You can't place a mineral wall next to a gas because there's a trick to break it easily when you attack. You make a gas and shift click to mine the minerals then the gas then the minerals and so on. Workers will change their gas for a mineral and a mineral for a gas and will mine out the block fast. Also I'm not sure how many ressources are in your wall, it says 14 but it seems to "regen" minerals. + Show Spoiler [the trick] +

Features: - 3v3 Team Map. - One player helps defend the entrance!

That seems like a very weird map, but I like it! One thing I think will make a balance issue, although I guess it's not that bad, is that Terran can lift up their main base. Now, I am a big fan of lifting the CC at the start and going for a gold if there is one nearby, and it normally makes for unique and awesome games, but on this map there is no drawback for doing so, which means that if a Terran spawned in the middle base it will give an advantage to that team because of the fact that the Terran can simply lift to the gold.
Now, while this will probably get overlooked by most players since it is an uncommon thing, there are more things that make for Terran in that position to be much favorable than other races, for example Reapers, lifting up the rax/ fac / star and putting it in the lowground, etc.
I am probably looking into this too much since balance in 3v3 means nothing, but w/e

Again, I'm not sure about balance because it's Team Games, but I thought it was quite fun!

I like it, especially the textures. I would replace the teal and red decals with the purple ones though, i think they blend way better with the theme. The red looks a bit out of place.

Please oh please oh please make this work. I've been trying for the past few months, starting with Superouman's Cherno and came up with many of the same solutions. I've been trying to keep it 148x148 but my rush distances are a little short.
I sort of wish that the 6 and 3 spawn locations were closer by ground than the 6 and 9, but it looks like they're about the same (which is pretty impressive). Or that the ground paths between the bases are larger. Of course they'll still play out very differently re thirds and such.

Wow, you made all of these? Well they certainly look great! I especially love Amethyst and Fruitland, though I have to save I personally think the red and teal textures were fine and nice with the theme, so I hope you keep them like that.

The textures on that map remind me of oldschool BW maps and I love it <3

I also like the map's texture style a lot, since it's completely different from the usual "blend natural textures into each other"-approach. I don't know about the layout though, 3rds might be a bit hard too take and i've never been a fan of island expansions. Why is this your last map for a long time?

I am worried about the 3rd base in "close ground" spawns aka E/S spawns. The push distance is kinda close for TvZ for example and the map architecture is conducive to biomine pushing.

Legacy has to be my favorite map in a very long time, from a technical standpoint. I've had many attempts at this very sort of map, and none have really been successful. The pathing is varied enough that no one spawn setup is really pigeonholed into taking one path all game long, but it's still restrictive enough to make the rush distances - and expansion patterns - viable in all of those positions as well. I could see this winning TLMC #3. Bye noob!

This is amazing! Mapmakers have never experimented enough with special objectives and terrain features. It will be very interesting to watch how this plays out.

Cool cool. I put a 500 mineral thing in a map when hots first came out and I kinda got laughed at. I guess the idea wasn't so crazy after all if GSTL is going to do it (granted it's not a super serious league, but still ) I like the implementation, reminds me of the mechanic from the sc2 campaign map.
In general I think a lot of "gimmicks" like this are actually great and shouldn't be considered gimmicks, if it gets people out on the map more and forces crazy engagements when you wouldn't necessarily expect them.

Also, did anyone see the epic games of Trap vs Symbol on Frost in GSTL? I really liked that game because all the alternate paths were used. All the features that I put in got utilised as I wanted them to.

I played a pretty epic gold league level match on frost of blink stalkers vs muta. It was pretty fun chasing and dodging around the map.
