Wow. This is easily one of the best maps I've seen so far. Not only is it pretty, it looks fun. The map has character; it makes you think. Attack paths are perfect for doomdrops right into the main, and the game can go into sudden death mode if either party wishes... it's straight up dope :D I've been playing with a little practice group for a while and I'll make sure to include this one on our map list. I'm excited to see what maps you make next :D
We need more maps like these that make people think outside the box. People that complain about "bad maps" because the maps don't fit their playstyle to the T and can't come up with new strategies to save their lives (e.g. Mr. Nefarious) are the same kind of people who ragequit and whine about how imba everything is - ignore them.
As a side note, though, I think you actually might want to change the name. It's fact that gas chambers were used for genocide by the Nazis during the Holocaust, and that seems to be the first type of gas chamber that people (myself included) think of when they see the name. And in the modern world where everything needs to be politically correct, something that might hint at something that could possibly offend some people (even if it's unintentional) is a sure-fire way to offend everyone who gets reminded that it might do just that. It's ridiculous, but that's how it is. Fantastic map, but could do better with the name. Also, mad props to iGrok for being a baller :D

Update: I found out that I accidentally published an old version of this map to the NA server. My sincere apologies to anyone who tried it out. This will be fixed ASAP.
Sorry again,

Calling someone you disagree with a "whiner" and whipping out a motivational catchphrase like "think outside the box" does not constitute an argument.

Just call it Vespene Chamber...
And for the map itself it looks great and probably a lot of fun ! I'll try it whenever i can (EU serv..) with some friends. It seems so easy to have a lot of drop play and strategically u must own the middle line to have a third... Good for fast and furious games !

I agree the name should be changed, its not offensive for me. But i can think of alot of people who do find it offensive.
|
Oh, whew! I had two of my friends 1v1 on this map, and i'm like wtf why is this so different from the map I saw on TL? Surely he didn't make all these areas tighter to try to improve it...
so i guess it was an old version? xD

This is brillant. The dynamic of the map favores long game with drop action, wich is awesome. I would love to play on that map and i will

love the concept of this map
GJ with the light/fog too.
great job overall. hope it gets played out there eventually

Thanks a lot guys!
The latest version is now published on both EU and NA servers (thanks WniO). Again, apologies for uploading an older version.
I got to see some replays, which was awesome! WniO & G_Wen were kind enough to do 3 test runs featuring TvZ, PvZ and TvP. Can´t tell you guys how much I appreciate this!!
I was very happy to see huge battles in the "battle zones" as I intended. The open space in front of the naturals and the LoS wall beyond had a lot of action. None of the combattants bothered to take out the destructibles though, and interestingly enough neither player got around to take the 4 gas expos. They were busy enough applying/defending constant pressure.
Some in-game screens:+ Show Spoiler +
Apart from increasing the rush distance, I´m not sure if can improve this map; I think games will become more entertaining as players get to know it. Or maybe they´ll find some exploit that `ll have to fix.
Edit: Imgur.com bugging

Were can we find the replays you spoke about?
|
Increasing the rush distance would be great for this map since, lately, rush distance has been a hot topic with maps.
Also, did you intend for the gold base to be able to be sniped by a tank? If you didn't, would it be possible to just move the gas on the other side of the minerals? just wondering

This is cool, I wish Blizzard did quirky maps instead of gimmicky dumb maps.

This map definitely looks professional man, well done and props to you. This inspires me to go make a map again when I get home from new years, better get some sketches ready <:

Nice job all around. It definitely has a visual theme, that's for sure. Plus, the layout looks solid. It's a map worth bragging about, but you're too classy for that aren't you?

I did put the gas within sniping range. This map has gas o´plenty. I wanted to have different advantages for different races: + Show Spoiler +Zerg: Very easy creep spread - ambushes and surrounds. Protoss: Force field friendly - Colossus friendly - VRs can charge up on tons of debris right in the main. Terran: Siege spots - nasty drop platforms.

Thanks, I may start braggin if + Show Spoiler +one of my maps: 1. gets used in a tournament 2. gets played by Team Liquid pros 3. gets cast by HD/Husky/Day9/Artosis 4. gets included in the official ladder map pool
At this point I´m just trying to keep up with the great mappers here on TL.net. I was blown away by City of the Sun and Spaced. This is the place to be for melee mappers!

actually no they did have a choice.. (it took years for him to get to that point, years of silent toleration of this future tyrant) granted their choices were obedience, civil war insurrection or death... a shitload of frenchies and brits made the same choice in their respective countries, several times during that period...

Yeah I don't understand how the name is bad. It's a chamber with gas in it. One of the units in the game fires nuclear bombs. You'd think that would be offensive to the japanese, but it isn't, because it's just a game.
The map is actually really nice. I'm loving the aesthetics, and the 4 gas expansion is a really neat idea.

@Bask and Ted: Notice how no one is talking about the name anymore. Read the thread, don't bring up issues that've already passed over.
@Johanaz, I've got to say, you really impress me because you are so skilled at every aspect of map making. That's hard to do, particularly with how complex Galaxy Editor is! Keep up the good work.

I actually really like this map.
3 protected bases on a small map will make it very interesting.
The X'elnaga towers' placement in relation to starting points is peculiar, but interesting.
Unfortunate that the map name make me kinda.. cringe o.o

Still a great looking map though.
