Hey everyone! I am going to be working on Athena, a Sc1 map. I hope you like this map, because it's coming to Sc2! In this thread I'll be updating my progress and would like feedback.

As you can see, there is a small spot at each cliff in each main were reapers can abuse, and then over by the ramp. This allows for reapers to be more viable. Haha yeah the converter sucks^^ Why could they not make the converter so it transforms the sc1 cliffs to sc2 cliffs instead of that. Good luck with it though.

only time the converter thing has spat out anything but mineral locations for me was with judgement day

Yeah, that happens to me too with any map I download from this website. i had to google search for the map. =/
Same thing happened with Twisted Meadows. I google searched it and got a better layout like this one.

The choke may be a little smaller. I'll fix that. but otherwise, I'll start texturing. =]

Updated! Progress so far on texturing and I couldn't but help to add the doodads in the middle. xD

Yup ik. Thats where I looked for a good map to convert and where the image I'm using is coming from. I'll post it in that thread when it is complete. =P

Yeah, it looks a bit oversized and some space looks wasted. Other than that, looking forward to trying it !

Three player maps generally have a lot of space wasted. An unfortunate fact. Also, make sure to add the high ground overlord spot overlooking the natural choke point.

Yeah I guess so. And High Ground Overlord spot? Do you mean where there's all that junk that comes out from the main by the ramp? i didn't know there was supposed to be high ground there.

The thing that's in Athena 2 and not Athena 1. It bugs me that a lot of Blizz maps don't have this.

Oh My. I did not see that. Yes indeed I will add that. It will make the nat choke a little smaller aswell. Thanks for that. =D

I haven't had the time to play the map yet but just looking from the picture 10 and 3 mains have cliffs than reapers/colo can use while the 6 main does not. This should be changed so each position is balanced.

Well, it still has a small part at which they can climb, but the parts that come out are no pathing zones, but thats how it was in the original Athena. If I took away the water that covers the cliffs, that path to the 4th would be much bigger than the others.

I hope this Update Clears it all up. I did have to make a small change to the 6 O'clock main but its fine now I think. The cliff space on each main is pretty even.
