What a complete joke saying that Superfight is a nothing tournament
So Bisu winning in the ODT has more impact on his power rank than say, his performance in Superfight 5?
That's just nonsense. I'm sorry, but beating Nada and Savior on the same day is a mile harder than getting through an ODT full of third-rate players.
Players aren't voted to play in Superfight because of random luck. Players are voted to play because they're truly who the Korean fans as well as professionals think are the cream of the crop in their certain races.
If you don't think that the players worked hard to get to play in Superfight, you're clearly uninformed. Believe it or not, players' performance in the individual leagues are not all representative of their skill level. There's a reason why Jaedong got to play in superfight 5 while someone like Silver, who has accomplished more in recent individual leagues, had to sit out. The Koreans know just as well as everybody else that qualifying for leagues partly require luck in getting the right matchups on the right maps, and that it's entirely possible that a player who's better than another player didn't qualify for a league simply because he had worse luck.
Players getting voted by fans and professionals to play in the Superfight doesn't make the tournament meaningless. If anything, it means that much more simply because players were picked based on a professional opinion of their skill, rather than purely by their results on leagues which many times can be misleading.
It's not unfair that some players got to play in Superfight while others don't. The system is completely fair to everybody. If there's another race war at this same time next year, Mumuyng has just as much an equal chance as Savior to play in it, all he has to do is show the world he's at the elite level between now to the end of 2007.
It's incredible how much you downplay Superfight like they were nothing tournaments even though in reality, getting to play in Superfight by itself is harder than qualifying for any league.
And there's no reason to justify why Oov is not in this month's power rank. According to you, Jaedong at the moment is a better player than Oov. Did you even watch Oov vs Jaedong at Superfight? Or Jangbi, how is this guy currently a better player than Oov? There's not a single sensible reason as to why Jangbi has shown a better performance than Oov in recent memories to justify him at #9 and Oov not making the list at all. Consider Oov's tearing up of the preliminaries and a complete domination at Superfight, there's no reason at all that can justify why he's not on the list.

Some people really anger me.
On the one hand you say it doesnt matter how prestigous and important the tourney is and you just look at how well the player plays and how powerful he is but on the other hand you say Superfight is meaningless and not as important and thus isnt even that important for the power ranking..
A) YOu always go and look for the games only and dont even spend a second thinkig about what league it was played in and if it was a final or not or B) You always take into account this was the OSL final the MSL final or just some Superfight invitational tourney

I have to agree, this isn't much of a current power ranking o.O more like DJEtterStyle's (imo wrongly based) opinions. Still... its always entertaining to see sAviOr fans give all sorts of justifications :-) even if he'd lose 0-3 to five different foreigners he'd still be ranked top3, and even if Oov would win OSL and MSL he still wouldn't make top5 in this PR :-P (I 100% agree sAviOr is top3, but the way its written in the PR makes expressing such oppionions legitimate) hopefully Oov will prove me wrong. I have a feeling that if sAviOr had slayed in SuperFight it would be written a whole lot different. Don't get me wrong, I kind of agree with most/some of the PR, but I disagree with the very blunt attitude towards ShinHan Masters & SuperFight and therefore its influence on determining the current power rank, I really don't see why not let it be a deciding factor on this month's ranking? we're talking about two amazing events. Next month or when the actual Starleague action starts the ranks would obviously change accordingly... Anyway this PR as noted in the news is indeed "seems half-assed" :-) I think a whole lot of bubbles are going to get burst this season.

I think Jaedong should be higher than Jangbi. I never even heard of this guy. But in any case, we'll see what happens.

Jangbi has been going flawless through Survivor by beating Chojja, Darkelf and Orion. He also beat beat Free[gm] in Superfight 4 and Canata in a BO3 at ODT prelims, he's a first timer as well.

Hopefully sAviOr will get out of his slump .
I miss his old-self. Raping-style all over.

I still believe he's got injured and needs a break... the way he has played in SM and SF5 is very indicative of that: sloppy and slow... his game sense was still there but he couldn't materialize it in an advantage. Really, playing in both tournaments till the end really has taking a toll on him physically.

hmmm i think its just that every player has his time... and savior's time is over

New Uniform brought down Savior. CJ's new uniform has started Savior's destruction. NOooo

I still believe Savior is the best player or equal to bisu at worst.

Don't argue against that point guys, because you're wrong. If you didn't work to get there, being there is meaningless.
Nice rankings. The problem with savior now is that he's clearly slumping, so putting a player over him doesn't mean they would beat him during his reign of crazy unbeatableness...but savior is going to continue to lose now for at least a month.
It's his destiny to continue to plummet down the rankings like the Nadas, Oovs, and Julys before him. Yes he was a power house, now he's tired. We'll see him start to show up again in the future boys, but get used to him sucking. He won't make it out of OSL groups, maybe he'll go deep into MSL before losing to someone random.
It's the way of the first OSL curse. Don't question it. It's taken better men than savior, many a time.
Bullshit!
KT-KTF was an invite tournament and it had 20 of the best players of the time. Not only that, it was round robin to ensure everyone played everyone. NaDa smoked that shit 16-1 lol. Invite tourneys have as much weight as you allow them to have.
Any time a fairly large sum of money is on the line, you should not disregard the results. Especially for one day, having a prize of $25,000.
Again, I think most people aren't pissed that NaDa isn't 1 or 2, they're pissed or upset because DJ is like a politician in throwing out his support for Savior. The point of the Power Ranking is to juggle the importance of the setting for the game and HOW they were beaten. The problem is that it appears he always juggles this in favor of Ma Jae Woon.
Regardless of my contention, I thoroughly enjoy seeing your ranking merely to compare* it to my own beliefs.

Of course power ranking is DJEtter's opinion guys. You're really missing the idea, it's WHO HE FEELS is hot right now. You don't have to agree with it but it's like a sport's commentator's feature. DJEtter is informative of the topic and gives justifiable opinions on who he feels belongs on the list. Sure you can disagree but don't knock the work cause it's a nice read still IMO and adds flavor to the game that most people aren't doing.
PS. I'm not even a huge DJEtter fan or anything. In fact, I thought the Aprils Fools ranking was pretty lame but I appreciate this article still. Thanks for the read! =)

Don't get ahead of yourself... he's 19, it's not really impossible for him to heal and play for at least 5 years more at the same level.. he shouldn't do two tournaments in parallel anymore though.

Well, it's his list... of course they are his opinions/biases. Why is that surprising? I happen to agree with most of it and you don't. Now, you don't have biased opinions?... from what you write, you probably would have had Nada as #1 at all times (and perhaps even you'd have put Boxer in the top 10), even when Savior was unstoppable.

Agreeing mainly with tfeign and most of his points.
In addition, SF, yes, is an invitational, however, a win is a win. I can understand that if someone got bumped up the power rank because he was "involved in SF", THEN you can say "WTF SF means nothing.". But Bisu did well against both Savior and Nada within the invitational itself. I sound like an idiot. Hopefully someone understands this paragraph.
Anyway. Under Bisu's justification, it mentions how beating a "slumping" Savior essentially means nothing. The OSL curse isn't a fact. Yes, it probably gives some psychological loss to the OSL winner, but should be overcome with a clear mind and some fresh air.
Savior > Nada. I'd say the same.
Agreed that Oov should be there somewhere. Did you see his macro in PP06? (For those who don't know what I'm talking about, BC's rape lings is all I'm saying.) All jokes aside, since there was not much going on in the past little bit, SF definitely counts for more than it should, and Oov should be placed based on facts rather than others on pure speculation.
Someone tell me if I misconstrued anything. My head REALLY hurts atm.

first ranking i totally agree with. nice job =)
