1 paragraph Korean and 1 paragraph English is how joohyun and rinizim and etc have been translating it.

Personally I like it the way it is but apparently some spoiled TL brats think otherwise.

i'm not picky, but the first time i saw it as one paragraph&one paragraph, it confused me and i lost my spot sometimes. im just used to reading it fully i guess - overall, im just glad the interviews are translated for us. how ever it is easier and less painful to produce for the community, it should be done.

I'm completely satisfied with whatever format they come in, but my preferences would be the entire thing in Korean then the entire thing in English. Just what I'm used to, I guess.

As long as there's an interview I'm happy, but when the translators use progamers' real names instead of the nicknames, i just don't read them. would be better to write the nick names at least in parenthesis

As long as there is an interview I'm happy about it. But for some reason I actually enjoy the Korean 1st. Not to sure why because I can't read it but yea keep it like that. And I think its easier for the guy translating to do that. Why give them more work because of spoiled people on tl

As long as there are interviews, I'm happy. But, since you're asking for preference, I like the English only ones because there's less clutter. If it's a hassle, I'm fine with whatever is most comfortable for the translator.

Personally, I don't have a preference. My eyes adjusted very quickly to the one paragraph Korean one paragraph English, so as long as there are interviews I'm cool.

Thanks to all the translators by the way.

I'm just grateful that we get to read most of the interviews these days. In the past we used to only get a couple here and there.

Much love to rinzim, joohyunee, and infinity21.

Apparently the translators prefer to include the korean text, so i say whole, whole. Thanks for the translations guys. Keep up the great work regardless of what format you decide on.

I like one and one, because excluding the original korean seems a little insulting to the original translator in my opinion. Having the korean there, even if 95% of people dont understand it, honours the original work.

Also, having it there allows the korean readers to read both (which we have several of here) as well as pick up any mistakes.

personally i like the one section korean, then the english translation

but i voted for "as long as there's interviews i'm happy" because it's true

if it was easier to exclude the korean or if it was easier to do the whole thing at once i don't care, whatever the translators prefer
although i suspect that korean then english sections are in fact easier

makes no fucking sense.

post the whole interview in korean, then in english.
all i see is bunch of ?????? ??? then some words and then bunch of ???? again.

The only reason I think people don't want korean is because they don't have east asian fonts installed so they see #@$%(*@2@#$822#%* instead of korean.

Easily fixed, really. Korean is easy on the eyes, IMO.

The alternating ones are a little harder to read, I'd prefer all the Korean than all the English. It's not a big deal either way though.

one and one is easy for the translators (dont need to scroll up and down to translate, dont need to remove text they dont need, just click after a particular question and start typing) , and is also educational for those who are trying to learn korean. plus, like was mentioned it makes it easier for the other fluent koreans to pick up on translation errors

it doesnt bother me either to scroll down between questions

I think there's a huge procentage of users that don't speak korean at all, so it would be better to write it in full korean, then full english. It's harder to write it that way but WAY easier to read for those who don't know any korean.

I voted for english-only though...

Edit: English only should sum up with korean then english, because it's very close, you just need to scroll down a bit if you have it in korean too. This way the votes split up. If there was no "english only" option, the "first whole korean then whole english" would be ahead by a mile.

I think that interviews on an english based starcraft site should be in english only as it doesn't really make sense to be iin korean. If you want to honor the original interview place a link at the begining of the post.

It really is up to the translators, they shouldn't make any changes that would make translating anymore difficult for them.

That said, if it isn't any additional hassle to change things and they want to just find the best way to do things, I think putting the whole interview in English without any Korean is the best way. If people can understand Korean, then they wouldn't need to read the translations in the first place. The people who need translations get nothing from having any Korean included, and it just takes time to add that additional text.

In my opinion, the best way to do the translations for both the translators and the readers is to just post the interview entirely in English with a link to the original interview. This way people who can read Korean can just click the link, the other readers can have a neater presentation of the only text they can understand, and the translators can save themselves some time by only posting translations and a link.

hmm.

1. It takes me no more than 5 minutes to read after match interviews in FiFo.
2. I have no problem with people not reading my interview translation, for my intentional omission of progamers' alias. Just the same, I have no problem with people disagreeing with my personal belief that progamers should not be called by their alias simply out of convenience, but by their real names.

well yeah it is easier to translate with the paragraph there but i think it is common practice to condense the two together, i always do this with my translation work anyway.

the progamer names is a bit of an inconvenience, seems like you force us to adapt to a certain culture. either way this is not a big deal, it is useful to learn these stuff anyway.

agreed

this is purely a description of my preferences, of course any interviews at all is great and the effort is always appreciated greatly.

As an occasional translator, I feel it is better to have the original Korean in the article.

However, when translating a large article (not a short, post-game interview like the ones we've been seeing), the Korean just makes it way too long. As long as the English translation is done very well, then there should be no problem with omitting the Korean, since it only gets in the way and makes the long article very cluttered.

whatever makes the translator happiest, the easier it is on them, the more interviews, right?

thanks to all that give their time to translate for us, I think that the right decision, is to make it the translator/interviewers decision.

I wont believe suddenly the "no Korean option" rised to the skies. This is the worst.
"1 paragraph Korean, 1 paragraph English" Rules!!!.

the reason why some of us want 1 paragraph english, 1 korean is that we're in the process of learning korean at the moment, and this is way more helpful than reading the entire interview first in one language, then the other.

even if this doesn't apply to you, why choose "english only"? is it so hard to skip a few lines that you'd rather mess it up for the rest of us?

Well if you see : 1 paragraph Korean, 1 paragraph English (515) + Whole Korean interview, then whole English (449) then it owns badly the No Korean, only English (T_T don't pick this) (527)

I don't think the admins will take the last one since a lot of ppl want to have korean letters though since it doesn't matter so much... It's all up to them and i'd be glad if they can make exceptions because the majority isn't always right.

Since it's a site based to what the koreans are doing nowadays, I don't see any reasons to not put a korean interview. Hell that'd be even stupider to remove it.

I think the majority that doesn't want korean interview are the news ones to the site. Just get them used to tl.net and it'll be all fine.

Don't worry guys. The poll results have been way too divisive thus, the translators are free to do whatever they please.
Do your best, God will do the rest.
