Although Liquibition has been played twenty-two times over Teamliquid.net's 5 year history, recent times have caused Liquibition to be nothing but a simple showmatch done once every few months. With Teamliquid rapidly evolving and growing though, we have been able to resurrect a once forgotten part of our site into something worth getting very, very excited about.
For those not knowing what Liquibition is, here is a quick history of the past showmatches;
#1 Elky 3-1 Crystal, December 13 2002 #2 Elky 6-3 Blackman, December 25 2002 #3 Elky 4-0 Beast, February 5th 2003 #4 Elky 7-0 Rekrul, February 11th, 2003 #5 Smuft 6-2 Elky, March 18th, 2003 #6 Froz 6-5 Veg, May 10th, 2003 #7 Ret 4-0 Froz, May 27th, 2003 #8 Ret 4-3 Legionnaire, June 4th, 2003 #9 Infinity[pG] 4-2 Ret, June 7th, 2003 #10 Infinity[pG] 4-3 Daaman[pG], July 6th, 2003 #11 Infinity[pG] 4-3 Suker[pG], July 31st, 2003 #12 Tomson 4-1 Infinity[pG], September 10th, 2003 #13 Joyo 4-2 Tomson, September 14th, 2003 #14 Joyo 4-0 Cope, November 6th, 2003 #15 Elky 4-1 Joyo, January 7th, 2004 #16 Legonnaire 4-3 Elky, February 4th, 2004 #17 Leginnaire ?-? Ret #18 Ogogo 3-0 Legionnaire, June 6th, 2004 #19 Gundam 4-3 Strafe, October 17th, 2004 #20 Gundam 4-1 Breakdown, January 22nd, 2005 #21 BlackJack 4-2 FrozenArbiter, April 16th, 2006 #22 IdrA 4-0 iNcontroL August 27, 2007
The twenty-third chapter of Liquibition will include a rising star, and a fallen star rising up again battling it out on a variety of maps. They are both well-known names around the foreign community, and they are Excello.IefNaij of Canada and ret[Media] of the Netherlands.
The games will be played on a private Hamachi server on Sunday the 2nd March 2008 at 10:00am KST. If needed/requested by the players though, we will move to battle.net and play with the Latency Changer plugin on the L2 setting. As usual, we will be doing the standard best-of-seven, first to four, style of showmatch.
The maps are as follow;
Game 1 - Troy Game 2 - Sin Peaks of Baekdu Game 3 - Zodiac Game 4 - Rush Hour III Game 5 - Blitz X Game 6 - Blue Storm Game 7 - Ride of Valkyries
There will be a live stream with commentary available on the day, VOD's and replays will also be available for those not able to watch, so everyone will be able to tune into the action.
Hope to see you then!

sorry ret, but i don't see you winning against lefnaij
|
Very good, a live stream with commentary is always cool. I'm looking forwards to both this and Tl.net Attack!

This is gonna be so insanely awesome

Out of curiosity, what happened in Liquibition 17?

Can you convert KST to EST and CET just for simplicity? I think it's 8 PM EST and 2.00 CET, someone should confirm.
Man, this is going to be amazing can't wait to watch.

think that the link to rush hour 3 is the link to rush hour not that it matters though...

GO RET!
He is playing really good right now... I think he can make this close if not win it
Either way, this will be awesome!

This is great, but i cant see how this will be different from a showmatch, maybe coz of some sort of prize?
|
Awesome stuff, so much going on now on TL!

IefNaij ~!
I think I'm like 20-0 vs him, back in the days of wcgzone.
|
Yea I'm voting for Ret! :D
|
Out of curiosity, do we know if Ret is playing Z or T, or picking based on map or anything? I seem to recall he played straight Z in Ascension but I've read he plays both races regularly.

Ret is ZvP ZvT TvZ and PvZ for fun, as far as I understand.
|
Damn. I've heard good things about ret, but nationalism says GO JF. Also, JF has looked hella convincing in his wins in tourneys/Ascension, absolutely dominating.
|
Yes, as Chill said He'll play Z I'm certain.

Hmmm, I still have reps of Suker vs Testie, and Suker vs Pepe, and even Suker vs Mondragon. I thought those were all part of Liquibition. Got Elky vs Legionaire as well. All commentated by Mani!
The good old days. I remember checking in (I was on dial-up then) once every few days to see if Liquibition had taken place again
Even though I'm not really into the foreign scene anymore, I'm strangely pumped up for this. Go go ret!
|
I picked JF on Liquibet but it could go either way. And I root for both kinda, so it is win-win for me! Gogo Liquibition!

through the intarweb
... What kind of question is that? I'm sure there will be a thread with a link of some sort if there is going to be a live stream.

The 2am CET is correct at least. Im often painfully aware that Im in KST -8.. + Show Spoiler +Also, I'm 25-0 against both, plaing with only two fingers on my left hand, going to the toilet every game, etc. I have of course lost the replays. And I was A+++++++ on pgt. + Show Spoiler +Oh, trash talking the Gosus was in the TLnet attack thread. sorry.

holy crap - I forgot that the liquibition has been around that long, as to span way back to the days of Elky, Froz, smuft and some of the pG's (suker/infinity).. I almost forgot that even Legion played in a few of 'em, but i'm surprised that we weren't able to get more koreans than just the 2; jOyO and Gundam =[
sounds like another exciting round! can't wait to observe it, gL players!! hopefully liquibition will continue it's legacy of epic showmatches

I propose using this font/style in this Liquibet picture for the TL.net shirts (if they ever get made.)

oh god look at all those oldschool names:'( *nostalgia*
|
7 - 0 vs Rekrul.
aPERAPE!
Too bad Blackman never got a public 10-0 vs him.
PS: It really surprised me he was considered as more than a novelty player. His games then and now haven't shown anything different. If you want random go with Eri imho he's far more novel.
