E.g. in round 2 they had just finished falling to once-bottom ranked Samsung only to take down top-ranked Woongjin Stars in their next match. And then last placed STX Soul smacked them around 4-1 twice in a row in two different formats (all-kill and proleague.)
Now EG has just come off a nightmare week where virtually their entire lineup has been dumped out of the GSL to code B status. HuK, Jaedong, and Revival were KO'd from code A in a 24 hour period to join their teammates JYP, Thorzain and Puma who were unable to fight out of code B. It is quite possible EG has never experienced a lower point. Only Stephano's GSL status is assured.
The main takeaway here is that EGTL simply are not very good, contrary to expectations. Most of their roster have earned their code B status and Taeja, arguably their strongest player, isn't playing for them. There is a shocking lack of depth in EGTL's lineup beneath their big 3 of Taeja, HerO, and Stephano, despite having seemingly a million players to call on. EGTL would actually start to be scary if they could send out Taeja, HerO, and Stephano, but so far these 3 have never played together. Instead in Taeja's absence, being forced to choose b/w Puma and Thorzain for the required terran spot is, as HerO
meanly and correctly joked, effectively donating a free win every match.
It is at the point where EGTL should consider replacing its slumping code B koreans with foreigners. EGTL have an abysmal 1-6 record when fielding an all-korean roster (identical coincidentally to Puma's record.) With foreigners playing, they have been 6-4.
Meanwhile Proleague just about seems to exist in a universe of its own. Woongjin's Soulkey has been dominating GSL yet is the 6th best player on his team by win%, hovering just above 50. And after his remarkable GSL performances, some are calling Innovation the best terran in the world yet his record is also an undistinguished 13-11.
The last thing worth pointing out is that last week Proleague's two worst players in Puma (0-6) and Flying (0-4) both finally managed to get their first wins. In Proleague, even the worst can always hope.
