Who really cares if you know the map is bad for the match up, suck it up and play out the game and make it a good final and show your better by forgetting about the little map advantages. Prove that those factors dont matter and that your the better player that doesnt need those kind of excuses. The only game out of this year in any tournament that I'd rewatch that had something like that happen was HuK vs Naniwa at MLG. Because that game actually showed talent from both players. This 7th game on the other hand seems to make it look like MVP was scared to face Squirtle in a straight up macro game again "because the map is better for protoss". If thats the excuse to cheese then its a tainted win and you just look bad for it. Naniwa cheeses in a meaningless game. MVP goes on and cheeses cause of some disadvantage to his race on a certain map and there will be no reprocussions for it. Could have been an all round good series for a Final but it had to end like this. Remove marines and guess who will win? This cheese from MVP was amazing, I'd personally liked it a lot, don't understand why U people are so attached to this 35 minutes games from which 25 minutes is just boring macro and macro and 10 minutes is fun. This last game was non stop excitement! Are you CombatEx ? And btw, calling a 2 rax all-in an "amazing cheese by MVP" ... seriously ?

What we also witnessed was a Protoss whose skill (while unquestioned for a long time) had finally gained himself entry into the finals of the largest and most grueling e-sports tournament the world can offer. After all, it is widely accepted the most difficult part is winning admission into Code-A. The competition is vast and unforgiving. I will not get into the pros and cons of a top tier whose retention rate allows for a system where the pros are given the financial luxury to remain focused solely on SC2 as this has been analyzed before and far more adroitly than I would be able to turn out. However, I would like to point to out that this series is not only a real turning point for GSL (as in it did not end 4-0, 4-1, or a lopsided 4-2), but also it may represent a transition in SC2 tournament play as we know it. Broodwar pros have for years understood the game from its opening moments to what their true "super late-game" compositions and strategies should look like. Therefore it is all too apt that Tasteless and Artosis mentioned in their cast of the Finals the back and forth "cheesy" "1-base" strategies that were employed at the start of competitive SC2 play. We have come a long way from Steppes of War!!! And how thankful we should be. Could it be that tonight’s games represented the first real view into the full scope of competitive SC2 games? When, for example, has LG-IM MVP ever been faced with a map and an opponent that forces him into the 2nd hour of a single game? When would that same opponent be able to shirk the pressure of 20+ ghosts with an accompanying number of BATTLECRUISERS with 3/3 upgrades and planetary fortresses gumming up the ground game to come out to a victory using an archon toilet in circus with void rays and stalkers (traditionally Protoss is terrible in the air with the exception of White-Ra’s unconventional Carrier play)? I for one can only hope that we can use the momentum and adrenaline rush of such an exciting final to project Starcraft II to a new level. I know I was awake until 8 AM local time to view the series, and I do not regret it. I believe I was there to witness a paradigm shift. Strangely enough MVP was able to take the 7th and deciding match using a cheese build he’d employed often in his return to GSL greatness and perhaps immortality. Still the series shows the evolution of the game SC2 to a point Broodwar took a decade to reach, and we can all I suspect hope for only more amazing play and with it an amazing response on the part of the fan base.

And I mean BARELY, it was fucking close man.

All of the history leading up to that game and mvp goes for cheese. But what most people missed is that SQUIRTLE DEFENDED IT SUCCESSFULLY AND WAS AHEAD!. MVP won that game because he executed a perfectly timed flank to catch the stalkers and zealot out of position, when they were trying to kill the barracks. Squirtle could have sat back getting sentries, being way ahead, and forced a macro game. But MVP played amazingly well, and so did Squirtle. It was a nail biting end to some amazing esports. After 6 macro games, some of which were a sight to behold, the gsl finals came down to clutch micro and decision making. This is Starcraft.

Against one of the best, might be THE best protoss and you do 2rax cheese in the last game and Squirtle knows it and still manage to win barely. I might say it was one of the best matches today.

There is no doubt that with the last map being Atlantis, and after 6 long games, he/his teammates would have predicted a highly possible cheese. He scouted MVP's base, and defended properly but then due to a few small mistakes he lost to an all-in he had already defended. It was a disappointing last game for so many people because Squirtle was making the comeback of the century, back from a 0-3 deficit against MV fucking P on the biggest starcraft stage there is. AND he holds the first wave of an all-in only to fall to all-in number 2. The cheese was not unstoppable. It was not unpredictable. People are disappointed and mad not because of that, but because Squirtle reacted so well, and 1 small mistake in the moment of victory crushed such an amazing comeback and an amazing season for him. Exactly !!! MVP has the balls to do that,, and that needs some props

Having to read through another TL article, trying to explain that squirtle winning his first GSL is way more impressive than Nestea winning back-to-back 4-0 finals without dropping a single map in between... >_< TL Writers, try not letting the hype get to your heads.
