TeamSpeak TL SC2 Open #22 (NA) Casted by TotalBiscuit and coL.CatZ TeamSpeak is sponsoring another TL SC2 Open Series again. The first series was a great success and produced some awesome games and provided the backbone for our TSL3 Qualifiers. You may recognize some of the past winners: Nerchio, Kas, Thorzain, White-Ra, HwangSin, and many others. Recently, Korean progamers have been entering, notably ZeNEX and Prime team members. Previous TL Open VODs can be found here.
The last TL Open, #21, was won by Heart, a Korean progamer from team TSL. He defeated EG.IdrA in the finals. Check out VODs and replays from that tournament here.

TeamSpeak has also provided us with an official TL TeamSpeak 3 server which has been running since November 2010. You'll see many TL users hanging out there at all hours of the day, and our staff use it as a place to play team games, watch movies, and interact with the TL community. Check it out!

I do not wanna bash someone here, but why is it AGAIN on NA :/
I know the connection is worse from KOR to EU, but you could do at least one from time to time on the EU Server, so European, which do not have access to NA, could play as well.
I hope you consider this.
Anyways GL to all participants

Here's the official statement from TL Teamspeak SC2 Open #18:
Hot_Bid wrote: From now on, all TL SC2 Opens will take place on the NA server. We previous stated that we'd alternate servers, but we feel that several factors favor holding it on NA. First, we like consistency, and players wondering each week whether the server is NA or EU (and wondering what time the tournament starts) is not good for the tournament. Second, with the added interest from the Korean server, we want to allow all players an opportunity to play (EU-KR is impossible due to lag). Lastly, and probably most importantly, we receive a lot more signups when we hold the tournament on NA, possibly due to the already large number of weekly tournaments held on EU. In addition, it seems that when we hold it on EU there are a large number of players playing two tournaments or having conflicting commitments. We apologize to our EU members who want to play in a TL Open, but we hope you guys understand our decision.

Too bad. I was wondering the same and apparently missed that announcement. On the one hand it's cool that there are so many european tournaments for players and spectators to enjoy, but if that's a reason to limit TL Opens to NA only then it makes me sad. I only hope this doesn't apply to future qualifiers for the TSL and that those will be held on alternating servers again.

And will TSL4 favor NA players aswell? It makes little sense to favor one group in the qualifications but not in the main tournament. No, if and when we have TSL4 the qualifiers will not all be held on NA.
By which I assume he means will not be held exclusively on NA.

Another NobodyfOu will probably win this.

Koreans don't have much to play in. Why mock a player by calling him a nobody, when he is skilled enough to beat big names? Would you do the same to a "nobody" from the US?

lol, well in the last one i played my best ZvT i think ever so definitely going in this one ^_^

No, if and when we have TSL4 the qualifiers will not all be held on NA. By which I assume he means will not be held exclusively on NA. Well i wouldn't believe in Hot_Bid(troll) words too much. He wrote that the TL Attack will be held on a server from which the "quest" originate from. So far almost all (i believe only two was on EU) TL Attacks were NA exclusive only even when they invite EU players such as TLO, Naniwa or White-Ra,
I'm afraid TL site started to cater mostly to their NA fan base which is understandable since 28.1% visitors to TL come from USA.
Still its a bit sad for EU scene...
On the side note. Incontrol motivate Idra to win TLOpen... He need to finally get a tournament win ^^

It would be pretty awesome if Chinese players started getting into these things, too. Although I have no idea if mainland China -- USA lag is doable. So many awesome Korean and Chinese players that nobody gets to see play T_T

most of the time the people who actually show up for matches get a bye first round, out of the ~4 of these I've played in only once has the tal'darim game actually happened.
|
why is it only on NA ?
edit:nvm found the announce thread about it!
|
I love the open! When it comes to randomers, I'll go the furthest.
|
Why do you never have this on the EU server? The last time this was on eu was teamspeak #14.
|
WOW CatZ and TotalBiscuit, I won't be missing this for anything!

Actually I doubt there will be many, if not none because of the Code A qualifiers going on really close to the TLOpen.

Finally a country breakdown! I'm not sure if you guys implemented this feature just now, but it's a feature I was looking forward to. It's really awesome and you guys rock, keep up the good work!

does anyone know who's casting the semis and finals?
|
got the change to play Strelok last open, hope to see another Pro this time :D
|
Is CatZ casting already? If he is, where is the link? I can't find it in the right column
|
|
VOD nr. 4 of the finals is broken, it links back to game nr. 3.
I thought it might be 3:0 for the Korean player, but it went all the way.
Great games, great finals. Too bad it didn't get the TalDarim game.
