It was entertaining games, and great games to watch. I felt Ret had that Terran in the palm of his hand the entire game.

He'll do it next time. They all will.

Go Go oGsTL.

I really don't think there will be a terran that'll pass through an upper round if they have to fight a protoss. It took a while, but protoss finally learned how to beat MM efficiently and just stall until their higher tech is out. Once they have full tech, there really is nothing stopping the protoss from taking the entire map.

GSL maps are too big to fight a standard tvp on. As sad as it is, close distances are where terran got most of their tvp wins, so it'll be interesting to see just how the winrate shifts over the coming months. I'm posting because I really feel Jinro lost to a far worse player than himself.

This is actually really depressing. Every foreigner kicked out so early...except for Huk.

Vikings Jinro! Vikings!

Yeah or a thor just owns all phoenix and breaks force fields.

No, problem here is how Protoss use Phoenix. HongUn just make 4 of them(proxy btw) Its not worth to get a Thor just to deal with 4 Phoenix, You also need a higher number of viking to defeat Phoenix.
4 phoenix's harrass the hell out of early Terran play. Just a build SCV here and there, a lone marine etc...force turrent and early EB--->weaker economy.
The most important thing is Phoenix throw the Terran out of sync, very annoying. I think after this GSL Phoenix openning against Terran will get really popular.
Jinro, Ret, Huk, Haypro fighting !!!

It wasnt anything special, the USB plug had just been almost yanked out, just on accident while i was moving my mouse. So I just plugged it back in properly and it worked fine again.

Jinro, its totally awesome that you actually answer questions from the fans. Its stuff like this that makes Starcraft so much more interessting than "normal" sports.

I'm really a bit sad that you're out, Jonathan! Hope you crush these guys next season!
But I registered, that here at the IEM the Korean-Toss are playing a lot Phoenix in early game and winning a lot. Would you say that this is a general problem at the moment? How to defend early pressure phoenix properly?

And also, guys who are complaining about Jinro not proparly playing. dont forget, it was proxy stargate scouted late...so difficult to adapt!

Kinda dissappointed with Jinro's response. He lives in a house with some of the best protoss and a ton of talented people, but he has no idea what to do against a phoenix build? I feel like he has all of these resources to tap into and then turns around and says he had no game plan against a phonix build. A poor excuse imo.

I love jinro as much as the next guy, and have been cheering for him the whole way, but am I the only one who thinks this? (flame shield up)

Most people on these boards can't fathom the level that these guys are playing at. Their builds and strategies, for the most part, are not thrown together haphazardly. You can't just say, "he should've made a couple thors" because he has to fit them into his build, or have them as a planned response. If he didn't practice making thors, he better not make them in the tourney on the fly, that's a sure way to lose, and hate yourself for it later.

Also, the reason he doesn't know how to fight phoenixes is because he has the best toss(es) to play against. They know how to use them correctly, and Jinro knows what the phoenix is capable of.

I agree completely. Thats why I refrained from "durr just do this!". Also, I may just have a poor understanding of how the training process works. Hypothetically, if you know the phoenix build is coming, then there must be some counter opening that works decently against it right? I guess that if he did a build that prepared for phoenix, it would make him weak to other P builds.

MC or some other P on ogs-liquid could tell jinro what builds/tactics they have trouble against when they go phoenix against a T right?

Its not an excuse lol, I just dont know what to do vs phoenixes, its not like I didnt try stuff in practice. Phoenix are currently not that popular, because the new maps let you 1gate nexus so damn safely, so most of my prep was focused on playing vs other openings.

Thanks for the response, and now I feel bad about how I worded my OP - sorry if I came off as rude. I wonder if we will see phoenix builds become more popular in the metagame. Looking forward to watching your future games and gl!

you still had a really good performance jinro, protosses like hong un are really hard to practice against. You should start practicing mech again

The build I did is like the 2nd best build vs phoenix, the hardest counter is 1 rax cc no gas but you cant do that on Xel Naga.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one having trouble against phoenix openings. Also phoenix + collossus is damn hard to beat. You can't drop and there is a very small timing very early in the game where you can crush the protoss, but it's so small that you will miss it very easy.

It would be awesome if mech would work against protoss, but every good T knows that it's almost impossible, especially on those big maps. Biomech has three weaknesses: immobility, low tank count (tanks are only awesome when you hit a critical mass) and friendly fire from the tanks. So the only thing that's left is MMM + viking + ghosts and maybe some thors.

Good luck jinro! I hope you find a sollution!

Great games from every one of them Especially Jinro, It seemed as though Jinro and Ret had more skill in their games but a few minor things worked against them and slowly turned the tide, that happens to everyone now and then, Best of luck to all of them in the next GSL they will only get better and go further.

Question for jinro: how do you think terrans will do after 1) the stim nerf, 2) the bunker nerf, 3) the zealot buff

Really looking forward to what tactics u come up vs P, and seeing u win GSL in the future. U have great talent, and it's always a pleasure watching u play, even if i am not a terran fan.

Keep up the great job!
