I really didn't like that first match report, the Jinro vs HongUn one. I thought it was really bad.

At that high a level, you can't unless you get away with a 1 rax FE or a 15 cc unscathed, strats that are really specific to maps. I guess a blind thor tech could mitigate the damage, but then you're giving protoss free reign on the map.

Phoenixes with good control really aren't used as much as they should. I guess it's because most protoss players aren't very harass oriented, so they haven't practiced using them as much.

Jinro, you rock. Nuff said.

As for pheonix, maybe a ghost?...They need energy to lift, wouldn't an emp knock that out? I'd imagine working an early ghost in would be easier than thors or anything. Or I dunno. lol, just trying to help a little.

Hey, log on to bnet -- you make a ghost, i'll make 3 phoenixes and let's see what happens first: You emp all 3 of my phoenixes, or me lift your ghost and kill it.

phoenixes are crazy fast (hard to target), aren't limited by terrain (can enter your base from any direction), and ghosts are [most likely] stationary (easy to target).
Happiness only real when shared.

I was very sad to see Jinro lose, but I have to admit I was a bit nervous going into the match because I knew that TvP was Jinro's worst matchup. His win over MC last season was more due to the fact that Jinro tried something new that MC was not expecting and it caught him off guard and led to a victory.

I really hope that Jinro practices his TvP and hopefully becomes the GSL champion soon! Great interview!

Sucks for Jinro but he'll come back from this.

Gotta agree that MC is gonna win the GSL, unless he makes a lot of mistake or maybe gets cheesed out I think he's gonna crush through. But with that said there's been a lot of surprises this season, so anything could happen, but he's easily the favourite to win now.

bit of a slow responce but..

Hongun opening was very risky jinro waited to long and the risk paid off

imo the correct responce was to go to 4-6 racks asap (instead of teching up) pull a few scvs and do a stim timing push.

Too easy to force field on xelnaga I think. Never been able to get this to work in practice vs good Ps, they always manage to FF stall until they have colossus.

I think the difference here is that Hongun opened proxy stargate and built like 4 pheonixes? thats 550 gas NOT spent on sentries. In addition he rushed colossus right after.. Thats insanely gas heavy. FF may be amzing but he has like 5 sentries less then a normal FE build, And people still pressure into those

The bottom line is that i think you waited to long to push and missed your timing. by the time you pushed i believe he was setting up his 3rd. Meaning his risky expo/tech had already paid off. If 5 racks stim bio push would be to easily FF maybe the correct responce was to tech instantly to medivacs and start droping and pushing? Sentries are incredibly weak when the main army is split up. Not sure if this timing would have come before colossus though.. if not i stand by the stim scv push..

Surprised nobody has mentioned ravens / point-defence drone. Obviously not for the early rush but in the late game it would seem a good counter to a phoenix assisted death ball.
