I would insta /in any game on TL that used that system. I like the player skill level on TL but hate the standard rules here.

One other rule I hate about big games on TL (didnt effect this game obv) is the scum kill point system. Everywhere else I play the scum get 1 kill per night. Thats it. Doesnt matter if its 22 player game with 5 scum or 7 player game with 2 scum or whatever. 1 scum team = 1 kill.

It makes roles like SK more scarey or a 2nd night kill more a point of interest (was it a one time night action, is there a sk, is there a weirdness going on like a 2nd scum team, etc). It also makes it so that the game feels more stable from a VT perspective.

Having played alot of hammer games, I knew exactly how marv was going to flip the second I saw it happen. Marv has played enough games to think of small advantages and there is small advantages to scum self hammer (stops conversation for 1) and huge disadvantages to town self hammer. You can make a very good argument that town self hammering is actually playing vs your win condition (especially with this setup of no deadline).

One day when I start hosting, I might have to host a "nomination" type system like you suggest. It sounds fun, and it's pretty similar to the rules I play in live games with friends. Also want to try some systems w/out NK's. But that's for the future anyway.

Yeah in retrospect I completely agree with you. At the time, I thought it was just an emotional decision though. Thankfully it ended up alright.

From the obs QT:

""""filter
Bleh I started writing a bunch of stuff then almost fell asleep. Trying to think after drinking isn't quit as easy as I was hoping

Marv has moved pretty far up my scum reads. Maybe even higher than ZB at this point. I don't want to hammer tonight, but I do expect his long defense that he promised when I wake up.

Also a quick question marv: Do you still think I am scum? Maybe me and Hapa for coming up with the exact same case at nearly the exact same time? You obviously think Hapa is scum, but if not me, who is your second candidate? Hell, if you still think I am your second candidate, who is your third and why?""""

See the last part about 3 scum? Keir isn't a newbie. He knows there are 2 scum in a nine player game, especially when BH says there are. Is this 2nd level scum thinking???

I knew that I wasn't scum So what I was asking was that if there was some way for me and Hapa to instantly die right that second, and Hapa flipped scum and I flipped town, who would marv's next candidate in line be.

@BH:

I really enjoy the instant lynch mechanic in general, because it adds a fun dynamic that's just a different change of pace. BUT, when people aren't required to vote, its much harder to hold them accountable for their votes and reasoning for them. I don't think there's any way to really fix that and keep the instant lynch in though

Day lengths were fine. I think we used them appropriately.

1 kill in 30 player games just makes the game drag on for soooooooo long. That's part of the reason why I've never played mafia on any other site. They generally have day/night cycles that are just unbearably long. I basically love all of the general TL norms, as far as rules go.

In fairness, almost every 30 player game I have ever seen has multi kill roles. They often have a SK/vig(s)/other kills.

I hammered v7 because of his play, that's about it, go away and leave me alone!!
Hapa you fucking nailed it day 2, I'm impressed.
BH was a fucking beast with the insta-posts, pretty insane. Very well hosted and thanks a lot for the invites.
I was going to go for drazak or iamp when I got back. I told iamp to go for darthpunk and said I was coming for him to see if DP was gonna flip the fuck out, I was starting to get suspicious of him, but he did himself OK.
drazak also started not posting and growing suspicious, I couldn't read that dude no matter what.
I decided Kei was town when he said he was 99% sure on me and backed off. Scum would have a much harder time of doing that if he was indeed going for the "easy case".

Have to go to school now, will make a more complete post when I get back.
GG guys, sorry for your first scum loss marv

wow this finished? Only noticed because I saw iamp conceding in scumQT

BH: told you so, read the game brah ^^

wp town. While losing is annoying, it was actually the spending time defending myself (and it took a lot of time) to no end at all that was the most frustrating. And as both defence and attack go, I thought I'd done quite well :/

I already spoke to Hapa/BH about it a bit, but having a really long string of scum games has been wearing me down, and getting into this game 1.5 days late was just fatal for me. I don't know if I mentioned in scumQT, but as the whole game was going along, I knew I was playing "scummily" (as per meta, rather than gameplay) but I could seemingly do little about it despite being aware of it. My enthusiasm I guess was just too low. Given the really high-involvement town style I have, it's a monumental effort every time I play scum to try to replicate it, and obviously I didn't have it in me this game... I mean, I actually had quite a lot of filter this game and no-one was really lynching me for doing scummy things, just... the meta too strong.

With a different playerbase I might have gotten away with it, but against Hapa/Keirathi/austin... not a chance

It was a bit unfortunate that the two people who I am most comfortable with their meta were both scum

Oh...well then.

GG all, really enjoyed this one and it was a nice change of pace from Open 2. More activity, generally a better environment, and I think we all did a decent job keeping things moving for the length of D1, which made it much easier to differentiate scum/town players.

Thanks for the protection drazak , he says, despite still having drazak as a scumread on D2/N2. I wasn't entirely sure whether DP was outing a medic during that one exchange or whether you were just being weird, nice to know it was the first. Also, DP Y U OUT MEDIC? During that whole exchange I kept reading you push harder and harder and kept hoping you'd realize what was happening and stop. And despite all that I still decided I'd push drazak because, if nothing else, he could claim later.

Really nice case hapa. I spent the whole day going "Well, it looks nice, and marv's comments on v7 look awful + that dumbest thing ever comment looks so phony, but...I really don't want to vote based on meta." I know it's a thing to work on, but I'm trying to address some other, more pressing, issues with my play first.

Also, Z-BosoN not scum! And I actually defended you this game!

Big thanks to BH for both hosting this, giving us a vote count every time anything happened, and I think putting together a solid roster for the game.
