It will be even crazier than Sleeper Cell. Probably it will be 15-20 man game, preferably vets (given it will be hard) I will already start the ideas flowing in my .odt file so if someone shows up I can discuss it with him/her. Qatol, Incognito, and flamewheel are the people you want to talk to about this. They can refer you to additional help as well.

With this forum now open to the public I guess I don't have to wait for new waves to host SNMM's any more. Is it ok if I just start a new one every time an old one finishes foolishness? That means that there is always a newbie game running, so new players can learn what this is all about.

I don't mind as long as you don't get burned out or locked into it with the same cohost every time. I think these games are a good opportunity for people to get a little experience hosting and think we should always have an experienced host and a relatively inexperienced host running those games.

I think we should wait to see exactly how much traffic we get from the forum being open. But yes I think this is a good idea. If there is a large influx of new people we might want to consider having a requirement of playing a mini game before a normal one (I foresee a normal game happening with 50% new people and they all get modkilled).
We'll see what happens though. Of course you should let people (priority to newbies) cohost with you as well should they desire.

Already done, I have DropBear cohosting SNMM3 with me next and Mataza after that, I expect that its going to become a bootcamp for new hosts as well. So if people are interested in cohosting all they have to do is PM me. ^_^

You can re-add that in the future if you wish.
If there are a lot of new players, I will make a separate [B] for beginner players. This would have the mini mafia games that GMarshal (and anyone else) host where only new players are allowed. For the time being we will leave it as is.
Also added a new clause in the OP:
"Note: All setups must be approved by someone from the trusted host list. PM Qatol or myself if you do not know who to talk to."
This is to stop hosts from creating wacky setups (i.e. 1 mafia everyone else mad hatters). While those setups are hilarious and sometimes interesting, people would be pretty mad if they signed up for a game (particularly a normal game) only to have that happen. Also, some themed games implicitly have this happen already (Bang Bang mafia, Toy mafia).

Is it ok if I create the XL thread tomorrow?
|
Can someone actually make a game that starts with Night 0? All this Day start stuff is boring.
|
A trusted host list sounds really awesome btw.
Would that justify having its own thread? So you know who are experienced hosts, can ask for advice if you want to host too.(and if the threadkeeper is really eager maybe with hosting history for each host) I would like that very much. If I had any knowledge I would even make that thread mself : D

We already have a few threads to discuss ideas (TL mafia idea factory, miscellaneous/multi-purpose mafia) so I think those suffice for the job. In a way, this thread can be for that as well. Personally I do not like having a lot of extra threads in the mafia forum as it clutters up the actual games.
Qatol volunteered to put his name down because he likes to look at all the setups before the games start. Both him and myself can refer you to the other good hosts as well as those who use to be part of the "balance crew".

I prefer night starts as well but people get annoyed if they die night one and don't even get to cast a single vote.

then they shouldn't sign up for games with N0 starts.

Oh and since XL is a newbie only game Surprisingly Normal Mini Mafia will be a 15 man setup open to everyone. 15 is still considered mini, right?

Because Day 1 starts with Power roles having information and Scum killing some townies. Let the WIFOM and NK analysis begin.
Even though PYP Insane isn't over it's a perfect example of townies doing useless shit because they have no idea what to do and have no idea what to look for.
Give them N0 starts and hey! - people have something to talk about besides who they have on their "pro-town list" on Day 1.

I actually like N0. It's how I play in real life games ~_~ I'll give it a shot in my next perhaps.

In a N0 start, watch Ace try to get a claimed DT lynched because you "always lynch the claimer first"
Honestly unless its a themed game Day 1 isn't so super interesting to the point that getting shot N0 is so much worse than getting shot N1. Being killed N0 deprives you of what, 48 hours of generally useless talk?

TL Mafia XXXVIII was a perfect example of town getting things done in a Day 1 start. The Day 1 lack of stuff to do isn't a structural problem. Either way both Day1/Night0 starts are fine imo. Variety is always nice.

Added new addendum:
Note: If you have never hosted a game before you must start by cohosting with a trusted host before you may host your own game.

Actually I agree with Ace I think Night zero starts are great. Gives you a bit more meat and potatoes to talk about on Day 1. Though I don't really have a problem with Day 1 starts either.
