Active List of Mafia Games - Page 18

I've thought about it before. But I never have since our forum is small that any game on the list is on the top of the first page. It just doesn't seem necessary at this point.

Now if you're talking about all the past games, I think chaoser's library has links to the threads of all the past games (and if it doesn't it should!)

TL mafia XL is gonna be very noobie centered so I'm posting here to ask all the vets to not join. I do however want a ton of advisors for both town and scum so if you were planning on playing please consider being an advisor instead. Given the amount of noobs I expect you will have a good number of people asking you questions so keep that in mind. If you wanna help out just PM me which side you wanna mentor for and I'll put you in the OP.

How are you classifying people as noobies or vets? Based on number of games played? Based on time since your first game? First timers only?

I might be available to coach depending on when the game starts (quarter ends for me in 2 weeks).

I'm thinking you make a restriction that at first only players with <= 2 games are allowed to join. I doubt you'll be able to fill it up so after most of those people have gotten in (probably use your own judgment here), open it to the rest of the gang.

I think it is good that, on a whole, we have games (be they normal or mini) where we emphasize that they are for newer players. We've definitely have had issues in the past with new players joining games and feeling overwhelmed with all the experienced players. While playing with good players is a great way to learn, I feel that newer players do better when pitted against other newer players, as they are more likely to contribute and overall try harder.

@Qatol: I was thinking of having a game limit which. Foolishness suggested <=2 games which is what I was thinking so that'll be the number I use. This will keep the people who have spent less time but are definetly not "noobies" out of the game.

@Foolishness: Yeah I know I probably wont be able to fill it with just noobs so I'll let more people in once I feel that noob signups have tappered off. If there aren't that many spots to fill I may get fancy at this point and only allow in people who have been here <=two months just to keep it new player friendly.

@Kenpachi: You're so noob I might make an exception for you + Show Spoiler +

But Kenpachi does bring up a good point, there will actually be a lot of players who can't play in this game, if my game fills fast someone else should host a game for the vets who aren't allowed to play this one.

If you look at the batch of noobies playing GM's SNMMII, I think we're doing sort of okay. I see no reason to create a seperate game for newbies. It just adds to the excitement that some players will be more clueless than others.

I think it'd be much better if you just tagged the experienced and new players, so that all us newbies recognize which players are likely to know what they're doing and which players are as silly as us!

Good coaches, plus a clear list of experienced vs newbie players at start, should be more than enough to make new players feel okay in the game.

Eh, the signup thread's been exploding lately. If we pm riptide right before the game starts then pm everybody who he gives access to, we'll have a shitload of newbies.

There are 20 posts per page. that threat has gotten at least 2 pages longer since there was an access sweep. Thats almost 40 new players right there.

In addition, I think Mini-games are much better to teach newbies that big games with loads of roles.

Just keep the SNMM rolling and the newbies should have no problem getting up to speed.

Actually if Mepak wants to make XL a newbie only game, then I'll make a concurrent SNMM game that all the vets can play in, that way everyone has a relatively normal game to play in.

(except for me ;_;)

I'm postponing Sleeper Cell Mafia II.

In its place, I'll be hosting a 9 man theme game called Paranoid Mafia. Vets only. I'm currently looking for a cohost, if interested please let me know.

Hey guys I'd like to host a Mafia Game myself,though the thing is it'd need to discuss it with an experienced Host,likely with noone who will play in it. It will be even crazier than Sleeper Cell. Probably it will be 15-20 man game,preferably vets (given it will be hard) I will already start the ideas flowing in my .odt file so if someone shows up I can discuss it with him/her.
