People are quick to point out that USA trailed vs Brazil but they were taking an incredibly large amount of 3s and missing. Hopefully coach K tells them to lay off the 3s unless it's completely wide open or at least they're more warmed up.

What kills most international teams when playing the US is the constant, suffocating defense, not center play, driving, shooting, post presence etc. Sure, the US team has a lot of skill there too, but what kills teams is having multiple runs down the floor where you never get into a half-court set, and having multiple steals and run-out dunks in a row due the the insane athleticism and quickness on the US side. Watching the US play "fundamental" teams like france or w/e, teams with good players, but just not much athleticism, is so painful, because they can make teams look downright silly and times. And if your best pg is in foul trouble......just...lol.

the finals is for sure going to be usa vs spain, and i think that will be interesting. however theres a good posibillity that spain might get upset. they have a chance at winning vs the us due to their general team talent and big men advantage, look for lithuania, france, russia, to have a chance at upsetting spain.

These days the only team that has a chance is Spain, the US are favourite against them but if you think they have 95% chance of winning you really don't know what you're talking about. France should be in the "not completely awful but not exactly competitive either" category. When we lost against Spain by only a small margin everyone felt it was a great performance...that tells a lot.

As long as they aren't doing bullshit things, care, and and cooperate (as they seem to have been doing for a long time by now), I really don't see how another team can compete with US. But that's just my opinion. Hope we get to see some interesting games.

The US should stomp just about everybody, Spain might offer some resistance but that US team is about as sick as any national team i can remember since the Dream Team.

Their team looked quite weak today vs Argentina, even though Argentina played not their best game. Spain, Argentina, Brazil and Lithuania have quite a chance of snatching the gold off USA. The team doesn't look as solid as last Olympics. I'm praying there's an upset this time and USA doesn't get to the finals just like in Athens. I am sort of hoping for an upset too, that way all the sports analysts here in the US can stop with their "Durrr, NBA players shouldn't be on team USA, its not fair, send the college players!".

In a one and done situation and the US needing to depend a lot on outside shooting (as it seems) the US losing wouldn't be THAT big of a surprise. I'd still put my money on em though.
