Outside of FW and Ahq the region does not appear to me to be particularly strong.

I don't think FW or AHQ looked that good as their seasons finished. I want C9 to get group A since AHQ looked so mediocre and EDG sometimes just don't show up. It's a smaller player base without as much money so I think they are doing fine with those caveats.

None of what youre saying is new or controversial. There's a reason that since TPA in 2012 FW and/or AHQ have been the worlds representatives every single year (although in 2013 the FW roster was a part of the Gama Bears organization). HKA were the 3rd seed teams in a 2 team region and performed pretty much as likely as most people believed an LMS 3rd seed would perform when the format was first introduced

I'm not trying to insult them or anything, just trying to state an objective truth. I'm sure their home audience will cheer them on and be happy for them, but they don't win much prestige in international tournaments, except for FW.

If you're hoping EDG is going to not show up, I think you'll be in for a wild ride. iBoy is one hell of a rookie, he's the best they've had since Deft, and a better fit for the team. Along with Meiko, arguably the best CN support until Ming establishes himself, C9 bot lane has to play their absolute best, because iBoy will Tristana rocket jump in your face if he sees a chance to kill you. And it's the same with Scout, if Jensen makes a mistake, Scout is going to murder him in lane. Which is quite a problem actually, because C9 has shown weakness in the early laning phase, and EDG is not going to be happy sitting on a 1k gold lead.

Meh. If EDG shows up in form, C9 have no chance but if they play like they did in the 2nd half of the season, C9 could play bracket buster. C9 can't possibly overcome RNG, SSG, and G2 in C so A has to be the hope.

Thanks for doing that, I always look at LL first for the game schedules.

Honestly I feel that this year is going to be tough for the Western teams, they don't have easy groups. C9 and G2 have the odds stacked against them, TSM is evenly matched with FW (and also WE if they don't play too well), only IMT and FNC have a good chance to make it out of groups, but one of them is going to go out because there's no way LZ isn't first.

Also going to go for a wild prediction, RNG is going to slaughter SSG in at least one of their games. Hope the Uzi-at-worlds steroids drop again and we see some godlike play by him.

This is a really balanced draw. The possibility of IMT or TSM getting the wildcard would have been an overwhelming gift. That said IMT is definitely happy to draw FNC and not WE.

It cuts both ways. It's unlucky that there are two NA-EU groups, lowering the overall number of Western teams advancing, but it increases the chance of at least one of those Western teams advancing in group. For example, so long as either IMT or FNC do better than GAM, they'll advance; ditto for MSF or TSM doing better than FW. C9 and G2 are fucked though.

So I think it is almost certain there'll be max 2 Western teams in QF, but almost certainly at least 2 as well. There's also a strong chance of TSM being the first seed and facing a non-Korean team, possibly even the other Western team advancing from Group B.

Rito where are my Pick'ems???

Group A
1. SKT 2. EDG 3. C9 4. AHQ
Certain about first and second. Don't know who will take the third but there is no way C9 or AHQ advance.

Group B
1. Longzhu 2.IMT 3. FNC. 4. Marines
Fnatic can take second if IMT shits the bed or 4th if they shit the bed.

Group C
1. SSG 2. RNG 3. G2 4. Turkey
Rooting for G2 though. I think SSG and RNG are beatable.

Group of Death /s
1. TSM 2. WE 3. FW 4. Misfits
Taipeichingong's Revenge.

You really think TSM will make it first in group D?
That's surprising...

I honestly think it would be
1. FW 2. WE 3. TSM 4. Misfits

I'm really sad to see EDG and SKT in the same groups. While I was watching the LPL playoffs I was thinking that if Scout is on form he can probably take any mid laner in the world not named Faker and that maybe this would be the year for EDG to advance from groups as number 1, then maybe play a western team in quarters and get to semis at least. As it is, they aren't realistic to get out better than 2, and if SKT really stomps them it could mess their mentality.

It's a hard life being an EDG fan.

Don't believe in FW and Misfits and think TSM and WE are on a comprable level. I know "TSM placing first in their group at Worlds" sounds ridiculous but it really is possible in such a weak group.

Plus these are just quick predictions, I barely know anything about non-LCS regions. Wouldn't bet money on them.

Why would WE be considered better than TSM? O.o

Lyon was much better vs WE than they were against C9 and TSM is heads and shoulders better than C9.

I think you have to assume TSM beats WE.

Fnatic wins the draw by a mile. They should have no problem getting out of the group in 2nd, dodging LZ in the bracket phase, and have a 66% chance of getting not SKT in the ro8 (assuming they're first) and might get lucky enough that SKT gets on LZs side

The way fnatic has been playing the last few months I don't think anything is no problem for them.
