People can say they should help out Dyrus, but why should TSM allocate any gold to him? He doesn't do anything, and he can't carry against teams like Marin. Honestly, the 2v1 strategy is probably best for TSM until they get a decent top laner.
We don't know that since TSM never tried it this tournament. If you only looked at MaRin's games where he's behind in gold, he would look like a terrible toplaner too.
The sacrificial top laner isn't something that's new to LoL and rest assured, there are players historically like Caomei and Godlike who did a better job of making something out of nothing than Dyrus has.
Being the sacrificial top laner isn't an excuse for poor performance--it's still also possible to be bad at being the sacrifice, and Dyrus still didn't do a good job of it.
Easyhoon played well today from what I saw. There wasn't anything wrong with playing him first. The problem was Wolf being bad on anything not Alistar and Bang shitting the bed on Urgot. If Bang/Wolf had been more consistent, Easyhoon vs Faker would not have mattered.

In the interview they did with Fnatic, it was said that Febiven was nervous vs. Faker and did well vs. Easyhoon in scrims. The logic of running Faker for five games vs. Fnatic was, then, practical.
I imagine it was the same here. They had success with Easyhoon vs. EDG the first time they ran him, and again in Game 1, so they gave him two games afterward before switching out.
The SKT coaching staff isn't dumb. They saw straight away what was the problem with Wolf - ie he has to play Alastir - and Bengi - ie he has to play Reksai and failing that, Nunu. The issue is, their opponent also saw that, and they weren't able to secure both. The 12-0 Faker Leblanc that never failed to secure them a series in the past was just that - a pick they wanted to secure the series with. EDG saw it coming however, and had a strategy to beat it, so that's props to EDG's coach.

EDG also played Tristana in group stages. I have a feeling that was a complete throw away game. Bengi did well on Gragas during the tournament. He also secured Nunu for game 5. I have to agree with the overall premise. Using Faker as a 'relief' mid laner is clever insofar, but probably not optimal in this tournament.
Finally get a chance to watch the whole G5. Faker played that Leblanc good (not best tho, compared to his prime) and Pawn's Morg is underrated. It is just hard to get recognized in less flashy champion. He did play conservatively in lane and lost on CS for sure. But somehow he managed to out-roam Leblanc (the roam to top lane) and hit several fight-winning binding in the team fight (for example that flash binding hit faker in blue buff is super clutch).
I think Pawn is overall still a better mid due to the fact that he can play any champion his team wants. Faker's ego is too big to not to lock-in Leblanc there. However playing Leblanc when your team already had Urgot/Nunu is not optimal at all. I think this might be the reason why ezhoon is picked to face EDG at first.

Meh hasn't won a World Championship yet. A World's win is pretty much worth more than anything else.

I'm pretty sure the LB is a coaching decision. And if Faker's ego was too big he wouldn't be playing only half the games.

SKT hadn´t enough time to prepare for this tournament and I think Picaboo and Tom would have done better vs EDG. Just ban the annie and pick the thresh and Meiko is out.
Honestly this defeat feels reassuring to me as a Korean fanboy.
SKT lost 3-2 to EDG. 3-2. Coming into this tournament some people estimated that EDG would murder SKT, that TSM was probably not that far from SKT, that Korea might be an average region now or at least way behind China... Korea is still at the very top after all.
And it's not even like this 3-2 score represents a decisive advantage for China. In the overall SKT vs EDG matchup the teams are 3-3, and SKT was very far from full force at this tournament. They were the least prepared team of the tournament because of the OGN finals, and they didn't have at their disposal the tool that made them able to win in Korea : their multiple subs.
If not for the Bengi/Tom duo, SKT would have lost in Korea as well. Also, given how Wolf performed these games a Piccaboo sub might have been a possibility (although he seems to have serious wrists problems so I am not entirely sure).
This result should give confidence to the Korean fans and the Korean region. Korea can compete at the very top and is basically on an equal footing with China when its team plays with handicaps.
The only thing that disheartens me is that Riot will probably restrict the sub number to 1 for Worlds too, which means that we will never see a full force SKT competing on the Worlds stage and this makes me very sad as a fan.
In my opinion (I will probably sound crazy here) Korea is better off sending CJ to Worlds if Riot is going to cockblock SKT again like this. I think that, if you just take 5 people squads, CJ's is better than SKT's. CJ is used to functioning as a 5 man group. SKT's power on the other hand relies heavily on the team being an 8 man squad (let's say 7 because of Piccaboo's wrist injury). Their ability to swap players is incredibly powerful because it makes SKT the first team in LoL's history to be able to adapt its very identity over the course of best of 5s.
I am very proud of SKT for this tournament, I am proud of Korea and its ability to remain at the very top, I am proud of the players' dedication, and I am very optimistic for Korea's chances at Worlds, although I really hope that Riot will realize how much their sub restriction affected SKT and gets rid of that rule so that Korea can fight with all of its resources next time.
Edit : also I should be permabanned after this post since SKT lost lol. Farewell everyone. I'll probably be lurking still.
