Of course they will then lose against a team that is better than them in any case. So I dont quite get why people seem to be surprised about such a result. GG is underperforming, fine. Slumping imo because they used to ALWAYS win against teams they SHOULD beat, and they're not doing that.

Like Giants which they went 2-2 against? GG is more the team that performs when it counts. Also GG had the best season preparation of all teams from what I read (maybe together with MYM). I expect them to do really well this weekend.

The question can be ask like that: Are the good teams the one that have good result or are the teams that have good result the good teams? When you don't get that much result in the later half of a season and get crushed for 2 weeks of a new season it's time to stop making excuses like you can't practice that much because you need to cook food for you and such...

MYM in IEM tournaments this year in my memory always seemed quite mediocre, but Czaru in this season's LCS has been more impressive than some of the most famous mid-laners in the world. Creaton didn't leave any strong impressions in my mind during his tenure at Millenium either, so it's kind of alien to me how these players are seem to be outclassing these familiar faces. I better re-watch some of these IEM tournaments again and try to take in all these shifts in power in the current LCS season, and try to figure things out in my head. Every thing is possible, who would have thought mvp ozone will win spring champions 2-3 months ago?

Maybe they didn't take the game very seriously and started to practice A LOT more? That's the most logical explanation imo.Eg said it themselves that they pretty much haven't practiced at all and you can tell. That last game was solo q in a nutshell.

Creaton played really well when he was on Curse EU, he's been known as one of the better EU ADCs for a while now. You're right though, his tenure on [M] wasn't incredibly impressive.

It's like any sport to some extent, where there's an ebb and flow of teams' talent level. The hungrier teams are usually going to make moves in the power rankings. I also think patches have a huge influence on teams though, as does the up and down system in LCS. Adjusting to new teams isn't easy, and it's also hard when the game you play is constantly changing as well. Imagine basketball if they nerfed 3 pointers and added a sixth guy on the court for basketball 3.8. Some teams would thrive from that change and some would look terrible.

Have you watched their game vs MYM? They were making plays all over the map but it was noticeable that they lacked ward coverage and lane pressure. They haven't been punished yet but when teams start to prepare for ATN we're going to see ATN slide in the power rankings again.

The whole not practicing thing honestly blows my mind. It's nice to see that you can't get away with it here, the same way you can't get away with it in any athletic competition.

I'm not sure about the whole team dynamics and how they mesh together but I'll comment on the 2 guys you mentionned. Creaton as ADC is the most team/support dependant role. Do you go 2v1, do you go 2mid to pressure jungle mid tower, do you take a bully strong adc/support and go crush the 2v2 lane, the support also really weigh a lot on how well the lane accomplish its specific objective. As for Czaru he has a quite unique playstyle having teleport everytime he probably can't just watch games from LCS/korea and be just fine copying. Without ignite to duel he focuses on mid champ with innate CC to be really efficient in not dying to an ignite and killing if your jungle pulls off a good gank. Teleport with Ryze/TF/Ahri is kind scary having a champ that can cc you while the opposite lane bash on you is not funny. Obviously he probably needs a lot of experience to not get in bad position and maximize the benefit of teleport depending on when he decided to just play this way he probably improved a lot since then.

They are still a little raw in terms of objective control/warding, but they certainly look like more of a cohesive team then they did even in just the qualifiers.
