Thanks to Reddit sleuths, everyone can try the LotV test maps by following instructions here.

Note: This is not a beta key, it is simply access to Vs. AI and a Unit Tester. I have no idea how cool with this Blizzard is or is not, use at your own risk.

What kind of changes were you looking for? I think at least the resources-per-base changes they're toying with will be pretty significant.

I felt HotS was a complete rip off, never brought it. LoTv appears to be a bit better but I'm still firmly on the fence. Like you I'm not sure its enough. 12 workers is pretty much a fast forward button for the game and econ change in mind wont be enough to fix the issues I see in the games.

there's no such thing as "nerfs" in testing, lol, it's just called testing. if some things weren't broken in the beta i would be utterly disappointed that blizzard isn't trying enough radical ideas for things to be breaking.

nothing in this community annoys me more than people who have never developed a game talking about how the dev process should go - specifically this magical world where there are concepts which will work out of the box and fix/improve everything, and how the developers just need to listen to joe blow on a forum but they're too busy bathing in esports dollars

Not sure if the mineral changes are the same as they are in the LotV custom map but if they are it's a great change. I like playing the LotV custom map far far more than HotS. Not sure how people can shit on these changes, they radically change the game and address issues that the community has been bitching about for a long time. They're even having an extended beta! It seems like a lot of the time people just bitch cause they like to.

It's clearly not the time to talk about balance or design, the early months of beta will be solely used for that purpose and it seems Blizzard is genuinely willing to try out big things and take them out and change them if they're detrimental to the game in the end.

Four things though :

1) I'm concerned that enhancing harass options in a game where expanding will be far more important could turn out really bad.
2) Does the Adept really need to be able to teleport to be an interesting unit ? We already have a teleporting unit and if the Adept becomes massable the fights with all the shades will be very messy. I love the look of the unit (another female unit was really needed !) and how it attacks but I'm unsure about that shade thing.
3) Does anyone else think the disruptor looked far better in the Blizzcon vid and in the LotV custom mod ? I don't really like their choice of colors for that newer video.
4) I REALLY hope the "show the outlines of every unit behind a building" thing is an option. It was something I hated so much in AOE2.

I hope they get that feedback. Every unit and their brother seems to need a spell or an ability, which is not the way you achieve elegant unit interaction or awesome micro.

I think the same. They should fix micro and micro interactions before flooding the game with strong spells that in the end don't really imply more skill or brain to be used but massing units or "terrible terrible damage" in a bang.

For example, they should start at fixing air micro and how micro clumps and engine pushing priority works, which the great Lalush pointed out. Some air units are quite limited in terms of micro because some standard values are in-built by default at their weapon variables or their movement is simply very standarized. By modifying the allowed movement, cheking no deceleration and changing damage point and giving some angle to the attack, the micro could become farly richer. This has also balance implications that would need to be adjusted. Have you imagined a more mobile Viking with a dynamic move-shooting or a decently microable VoidRay?

Also at "autoballing" caused by the combination of the pathing AI ( who tends to make units march at the same time)+ natural limitator variable present in the editor (Mixed formation diameter) that makes units to autoblob so hardlly. It has been tested by many modders, and with the simple change of the variable, units tend to autoball fairly less, but on the other hand it rended AoE attacks fairly less reliable. This topic was present when HotS came out, but Blizz just ignored.

What happened to the +1 armor to Ultralisk buff? Is that no longer a thing? Are ultralisks going to receive any love at all?

I think changes like that or the marauder double attack could still be in the game without being mentioned here.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.
