Would make support veig even more snowbally silly.

IMO it's the biggest hit on Ahri. Regular build on Ahri is just god awful, at least with syndra all her other builds are just as good, and DFG is just cream on top. Leblanc has the cancer chalice splitpush build. Katarina works just fine with Zhonya's first build, into DC -> voidstaff. DFG is optional. Veigar can use DFG, but not necessary for him.
As long as Nomicon remains the same, Ahri will be fine. The difference between Nomicon+DFG & Nomicon+Zhonya/Dcap/Void is smaller for Ahri than for someone like LeBlanc

DFG is a personal preference for those wants to carry the team. Other Ahri players rush Zhonyas or Dcap and find it just as effective edit: Rephrased it

Not 100% sure about Death Cap first, but I suspect that getting two of Zhonya/Morello's/Abysal first will still be very strong for Ahri.
Also I wonder if this will bring back Rylai's on Ahri to occupy DFG's slot (doesn't have to be built as the first item). That will be pretty interesting actually.

Sufficiency, I've been meandering through the API because of your recent posts...is there a way to pull data on the average time that a certain champion buys a certain item?

Yes but it is too late for me to do it today.
If you want to take a shot at it, you need to turn on timelines then parse through for thebuy-item event.

That makes sense. Thanks!

I thought that dcap first was bad on mids unless they have some sort of utility ap scaling (shields/heals etc.) and that void pretty much always provides more damage.

Deathcap usually opens up the ability to wave clear in a single rotation or spell, void staff might not make the AP ratio cutoff point necessary to do so at that item timing.

Void does give more damage in the long run, but it's generally better to go Dcap first for better farming and you still get a large increase in damage while MR values are still low.
You generally want Void by the time teamfights roll around, which lines up fairly nicely with a 3rd item timing.

crucially back then chalice was not a late game item.
I think even with the old old blue buff people would have eventually figured out that athene's was better (if it had existed) it's funny to think about it now but it actually took Riot over buffing the item and rapidstar/toyz abusing it at worlds for it to catch on, and I'm pretty sure the original version was better than now iirc.

So I just woke up and what am I reading? DFG removal, funny thing, wondering how will they handle with affected champions. Also ranked reset is at 21.01.2015 as someone already mentioned, damn, I thought I'm gonna play my placement games this weekend.
BUT as Riot mentioned, there will be a big difference between this and last years placements and confirmed that ranked you finished with in the pre-season will have a huge impact on your division, once you finish placements.

Personally, I'm expecting the games on a pro level to last much longer once DFG is removed. It was one of the few items that a Mage could buy to try and chunk down a tank line quickly, and with it gone we'll probably see the return of 2x tanks in top and jungle and just be unkillable walls that just walk up and start doing Godzilla slaps with the enemy tank lines, as the Mage and ADC just poke and hope to god to not die once the tanks get to them.

Someone brought up something similar to this in the thread on the Riot boards. The response from Jag:
The interesting issue with DFG is that despite being a nuke scaling off of percentage health and therefore in theory being a tank shredder, it ends up being arguably more potent on squishies since it reduces the threshold required to one shot a carry's low health pool by 20%.
Your point suggests to me that maybe there's an itemization hole for mages that want to deal with health stacking (that Liandry's is not currently serving). I think that's a good issue for us to keep an eye on.
So they are at least thinking about it. Liandry's generally needs a certain type of kit to really function as a tank shredding item.

sadly Liandry is noob bait on the majority of the cast.

Liandry's generally needs a certain type of kit to really function as a tank shredding item. the issue with the item is that like dfg, it's actually better against squishies because of the MR mitigation i think that the way to have health shred not be better against squishies than tanks is to change it so that instead of being on percent health, make it a flat number that scales based on health value.

you mean like % max health I'm not really following.
