only downside is his laning is so shit. Overall, feels like a worse version of Orianna. botrk is alright. I like my Q to hit like a truck though and the as is kinda useless since I'm barely aa-ing with blue ez. the cooldown to cap at 40% is great as well. 4 second E's op. pretty much urf. however if qss doesn't seem like a good buy for the situation, I would go botrk to be more slippery. I got qss my last game because I was against a warwick/zed/morgana team. I think azir is heavily underrated. I can see him being played in LCS next season and being quite good. the few good azirs I saw were terror.
I don't think Azir was ever truly underrated. A lot of people were saying he'd be quite strong even when he was just on PBE.
It's more that he had so many bugs on release + he has a pretty steep skill curve that he looked really underwhelming. Once Riot fixed his bugs + the qol buffs, it became pretty clear he would be really strong.

He is still rather bad early game.
His level one can be absolutely devastating. Its so easy to just get rolled level 1 by a competant opponent, you cannot trade and last hit at the same time, and any trade you commit to is 100% all in otherwise you lose hard because you can't leave your soldier. I dont think a single other champ has a worse level 1. You basically a sitting duck until 2. Honestly I'd rather be a level 1 Eve that started with her W.
He is a great champ once he gets rolling though. Pretty fun and interesting too. I like him.

Eh, Azir has a stronger level 1 than a lot of people by merit of being ranged, but it doesn't mean much given what he'll be up against.

Azir's level 1 is weak, but it's not impossible to get out of. He is VERY weak against strong level 1-2 champions like Riven/Yasuo/etc, but he wouldn't be the first professionally played champion who can be counterpicked.
The current problem with Azir is that he is still buggy. The first round of bug fixes made him playable, but he will need a second round of bug fixes in order to be reliable.
Good news is Riot has already acknowledged that he needs a second round of bug fixes and said they will fix them in the next patch.

he's pretty good against yasuo at lvl 1 because he can pretty much always hit 2 first. and he can stay out of range pretty easily until then.
im pretty worried about how strong his passive is going to be when the azir turrets ramp up in damage properly..

It should be strong. It's immobile, has a long cooldown, can't be used for the first portion of the game, and gives the enemy team gold.
I have been killed at lvl1 as Azir vs. Yasuo if the Yasuo starts with his dash first. If he starts Q it's not so big a deal.
