in that matchup ignite on irelia helps a lot to kill vlad which can snowball the lane, otherwise its pretty easy for him to tie the lane or even win it

It's a lot easier to track a jungler and go Balls deep on Morde when he is doing red or something than to ward all seven entrances that morde can be ganked from. In fact you can only get 3 ward's...
I'm not saying he's awful, but there is a reason he's rarely played.

Myeah I have a soft spot for Morde, but he definitely suffers from his shitty mobility. Of course, that's pretty much his only weakness. If it weren't for that he'd be ridiculous.
The solution to not get rekt by the jungler is obviously to not overextend. Play the lane super safe up until 6, after that you can usually trade kill for kill if the jungler gets cocky.
Laning phase isn't the problem for Morde, it's the teamfights where he's #foreverkited unless your team has super strong engage.

The few people who stuck with azir through the launch and disaster have learned him pretty well. Its kind of a shitty feeling when you die or miss a kill on azir because 2-3 auto attacks got bugged because of walking in and out of range or because you dashed to the soldier too soon though.

I don't really get the argument though. If the hypothetical Mordekaiser and his jungler have no wards while the enemy jungler has constant deep ward coverage, then sure, Mordekaiser will be easy to gank. What's the punch?

If the enemy jungler has both sightstone and upgraded sweeper while Morde is still laning mid then he'll just get 1shot by Morde for sinking so much gold into non-combat stats. You'd have literally just boots, maybe a spirit stone, sighstone, and upgraded sweeper.

It's not for morde stealth, for vision control. Kind of hard to gave vision when enemy jungler is killing two ward's every minute.

It's not the lower cooldown, you can clear more ward's with the upgrade...
If I spend 475 gold, I can press 4 and walk by Dragon and kill probably 3 ward's every minute or until they stop warding which is with 475 easily because then you basically have full Dragon control.

The worst you can say is that we are risk aversive as Janna in bad match ups. Coin is definitely safer.
You may call out and say that's because I am terrible at Janna, but our mid Diamond resident Janna main also dislikes Spellthief in certain match ups.
Spellthief is definitely not the all inclusive answer to everything.
