I mean slaves got free housing too, if you want to go there. The quality of education most of them receive is so low that they might as well not have degrees at all (though there are exceptions, foremost being Andrew Luck). Honestly, them having a crap education is almost more of a reflection on how lousy American higher ed is a whole rather than the student athlete system though. I seriously hope you're not comparing legitimate graduates from top universities with student athletes... I seriously hope you are not saying that all student athletes are not legitimate graduates from top universities. In fact 90% or more go on to be something pro other then sports. Oh, they're legitimate graduates, obviously, but you'd be kidding yourself if you don't think paper-classes don't exist for a lot of the student athletes.
Some student athletes are also so dumb that they couldn't even get into the colleges they end up "attending". Remember Derrick Rose's SAT scores?
Edit: Okay, maybe calling them dumb is a bit out of line. But anyways, have some data.

I always thought benny was korean. dude looks really korean I am not convinced that anyone can tell if someone is Chinese, Korean, or Japanese. ANYONE. Including if you are one of the 3 above. i'm pretty good at telling chinese korean japanese apart. idk, koreans are especially good at this because of our parents always pointing out "oh hes chinese oh hes korean etc etc" when we were young. a lot of koreans are very prideful and believe they are the best asians. this is teamliquid, we all believe that

dude. im not a slouch at this but real koreans (lived the vast majority of their lives in the mainland) are fucking amazing at it.
i was working in hong kong with my korean coworkers, and we were out shopping and touring at the night market district. and i shit you not, my coworkers could spot a gaggle of koreans among a sea of chinese people at least a solid 200+ meters away. they were in tour groups, but I don't know how they told the difference from, say, a mainland chinese or japanese tour group from that distance. of course within hearing or clear seeing range I could tell or at least hazard a good guess, but man that asian discrimination compass is too strong.

If I give you 10 pictures of Asians, each belong to one of the 3 groups in the last 5 generations, do you think you can get more than 5 correct?

Isn't that common about several Asian countries though? From the echoes I get and the nationalism that seems quite present in the region. Or maybe it's just when measuring to each other, like the tensions between China and Japan or China and Taiwan. :|

i know what you mean by looking "chinese" in general, but he definitely has a korean streak that makes me identify him as korean. if i had to single it out to particular body parts, probably the eyes and lips. its hard to communicate it without sounding like bullshit, but w/e.

I think it has a lot to do with bone structure. It's a lot more the summation of a lot of general things that point to one or another.
I'm okay at this, can probably get 50%+ accuracy on telling asians apart, but I've had a fair amount of practice.

That's not the point though. I though the question was if you can tell the difference purely based on physical characteristics.
Can you tell if someone is from France or Spain?
|
@suff, yes i think i could. of course there are overlaps in characteristics between fairly close ethnic and regional populations , but i think most people will agree that within particular regions there tend to be overarching similarities in the populace (if you're in a fairly homogenous population) that are at least slightly distinguishable from those of nearby neighboring territories.
yes@asians not at the french and spaniards

Depends. A fair share of Spaniards have arabic (arabian?) features, for example the nose, and for these it helps guessing. People like Ocelote, na, I wouldn't know.
And I was talking about the "we are the best asians" mentality.
