confirmed legend on snopes http://snopes.com/college/horrors/scurvy.asp
5-7mg of vitamin c (a single slice of tomato or quarter-cup of potatoes daily) will fend off scurvy, and it would take 20-40 days with no consumption of vitamin c/ascorbic acid to contract scurvy
(i'm not saying oddone didn't contract scurvy. i suppose it's possible - though the listed symptoms that he had don't match the symptoms of scurvy very well i suppose. my point being that it doesn't look like college-student-scurvy is even an uncommon thing, more or less a never thing)

It was some kind of lack of something in food though I'm pretty sure it was two different things. His diet resulted in scurvy and he was taking lots of showers in scalding water which gave him a skin condition. He's a pretty good jungler, but I don't really understand how he's alive. How do you shower in scalding water? Don't you notice "oh ow ow the water is scalding me"? Personal preference. It could also have to do with skin types. For instance have eczema and people with eczema are much more susceptible to itching. Itching however is an "opposite" nerve reaction to pain in that pain shuts itching down and that people who susceptible to itching don't feel as much skin pain. I take very hot showers because I prefer it that way. I've taken showers hot enough to have steam rolling off of me when i get out. And thats on a daily basis but never had anything happen to my skin lol

Why would you take super hot showers if you have eczema?...

he was pretty clear lol... the super hot water causes pain, which stops the itching. itching makes eczema worse, and although dehydrating your skin by steam-blasting it isn't optimal either, it's better than scratching your skin off

can we please keep this a hate free zone where we don't question each others' life choices
some take hot showers with eczema, some main nidalee, and apparently everybody majored in econ or stats

Easily the weirdest conversation in GD in some time.

I like to begin my showers hot, then as I acclimate I inch up to "oh my god I can't believe I I'm taking a shower that I could cook ramen in."

And now the correlation between OddOne's poor diet and skin condition becomes clear.
