Vlad just doesn't win against anyone right now. Sorry but you don't pick him to win lanes.

Sure he loses to some....but he can go even alot and outscaled alot of tops later on.

Yeah I think he can go sort of even. Even if he doesn't, his E is so good at waveclear that he will eventually crawl back provided his team isn't demolished without him.
But I don't think there are lanes which he you pick him into and expect a breeze.

Vlad was nerfed with the conjunction of 1) Spectral Cowl and 2) removal of Spectral Wraith and Spell Vamp, leaving only the shitty WotA as an upgrade path for hextech.
Plus there's basically nothing but bad matchups top lane nowadays. No mo' shen and shit like Malphite to possibly bully. And even then Malph is a bad matchup, and Shen can come back in lane strongly if he gets pressure from the jangles.

Doesn't current wota have basically the exact same stats as the old spectral wraith? (50 AP, 20 % vamp, 10% CDR for 2000 gold).

It has the exact same stats +10 mana regen at the same price.

In other news,
Has anybody tried going faerie charm + 5 health pot + 3 mana pot with the biscuit mastery on mid laners?
I feel like it might be stronger than current mid lane openings on people like Orianna/Gragas/Kassadin, although it would be more of an investment. Wondering if anybody has seen this.

That's pretty much what I've been doing on Orianna whole s3 (take away a pot or two for a ward). Haven't played her in s4.
|
the issue is you're spending a lot of gold on consumables and dorans ring is great if you are good at csing for mana regen.
|
Well you're going chalice or tear on Orianna anyway so it's not like it's wasted.
|
I never said that it was wasted its just drings are super cost efficient anyway going pots opening feels a bit like a crutch

I recall bigfatlpjiji experimented with the biscuit mastery and faerie charm start in the early days of season 4/pre-season 4/whenever that patch came out. I haven't seen him do it since, but I haven't tuned into his stream in a while. I can tell you that he tried it though, and then switched to the normal item builds after they were found. I think Koreans aren't doing it either. My reasoning being that if there was something there, we'd already see it in matches, and then it'd migrate over to NA.
In the end, if you want mana, there's always flask openings for these champions.(Kassadin flask+3pot opening for example)
|
Isn't the HP and AP from a Doran's Ring really important so you don't get bullied by the threat of an all-in?
|
Flask+3 pot is 726 health 308 mana.
Charm+8 pot with biscuit mastery is 3 mp5, 925 health 380 mana.
I wonder if that extra regen in the initial lane is worth the mastery point and a bigger early potion investment though. Maybe not.
|
I imagine you getting bodied at lvl 3 and 4 all in with that opening

Vlad smashes Jax and Shen, sure. But they are so rarely played it doesn't really matter. It's like saying Vlad smashes on Poppy.
