Riven nerfs aren't that big if the ratios actually are 0.4, 0.45, 0.5, 0.55, 0.6 like in the comments on the RoG site someone is saying, instead of 0.4 everywhere. This actually would make her deal mostly more damage, especially if the player decides to focus more on armor penetration instead of flat AD.
At lvl 18, Riven's Q would deal 152 base instead of 130 base, so for the new Q to deal less damage at level 18, she would need to have over ~220 bonus AD. This in my opinion means that she should be going for armor penetration marks, and while Q at lvl 1 is weaker with more than ~7 bonus AD, at Q lvl 2 it again should be comparable and would most likely pass the old Q especially if she goes for a build path like Brutalizer instead of rushing a BF Sword or whatever. If she maxes Q first, at lvl 9 she would have her Q deal around 137 base damage vs the 130 before, so she would need around 70 bonus AD for the new Q to be weaker. This would also make Riven scale better with levels and worse with items than before, obviously.
This is all assuming that the poster is correct and it really is 0.4, 0.45, 0.5, 0.55, 0.6, I have no way of testing. Weaker at level 1 actually is a pretty big impact, Riven wins a lot of lanes by just having a monstrous level 1 presence. Oh, still? Well eh, I haven't had that issue, I thought that she wasn't really scary until she got all her skills and especially at 6. Weird. that's a little unfair in his scenario without seeing the game, standing in a friendly Swains attack range is pretty much by definition playing Cait incorrectly.

are we really going to do broodwar vs lol right now? because not every famous brood war player had godlike mechanics. there are plenty of lol players with higher apm and better map awareness than most of the white broodwar players.

Higher apm? Dunno bout that. You needed like 100+ apm just to be able to macro properly and I doubt you ever need 100 apm to play League. You might see player's apm spike when doing Lee, Zed, Riven combos and stuff but on average I doubt League will have 100+ apm.

This is taking it too far. You have multiple Korean League of Legends professionals going on the record that they have tried and failed at making a name for themselves in Brood War. While the games have different demands from the players, what you are suggesting is flat out untrue. The level of minimap awareness, and APM demands that the average professional zerg gamers required playing a regular game of zerg versus terran alone exceeds the level of APM requirements and minimap awareness required in a professional League of Legends game.

And then they should play SF4 and see how bad their dueling skills are.
Then they should play high level single-player tetris and see how bad their prediction ability is.
Really we can go on and on, but why.

The mana cost on his Q used to be higher and scale with levels if I remember correctly. They buffed it to be a flat 20. You forgetting that mana is a toxic mechanic

Flash has tried to make a name in SC2 and has failed so far, and BW -> SC2 is a lot more alike than BW -> LoL.

People forget how much easier it is to pick up a skill when you are 10 than when you are 20. There is literally no one who is eligible to be a LOL pro right now that played LOL as a kid. Pobelter and Uzi are the closest.
How many pro athletes are elite when they started playing their sport at age 16? Hakeem Olajuwon? He was a physical freak, and generally the exception.
|
That's a completely different thing, really. Well, I just know that in ice hockey and especially figure skating you generally start at the age of 3 to 5.
It's not really comparable, different things. I think that army would be more comparable, that you would start at the age of 18 even if you want to become very very good at it.
