Honestly, the odds I would care about a card game if League streamers weren't playing it constantly is about zero. I'm probably not the only one.
Indeed, it has turned me of a great deal of LOL streams as they mindlessly miss queues playing hearthstone.

I mean anyone who posts in this TL subcommunity represents someone who has a reasonable level of investment in the game, and who watch streams frequently and religiously. Even if Hearthstone hype affects that demographic significantly, it doesn't represent a very large portion of either the Hearthstone playerbase or the LoL playerbase.

I think that Hearthstone streaming by LoL (and other) players definitely gave the game a positive entry into the market, which Blizzard sorely needed after Diablo 3.
I also think that the specific decision on Hearthstone has more to do with creating a separation from Blizzard's universe to reduce interest in Heroes of the Storm.

I personnaly totally understand Riot position there anyway. Yeah it sucks but it's business. They put so much money into LCS that they want to keep it under control. It still allows things like qtpie setting up a minecraft server for his subscribers, etc... It's not like they can't do anything else than LoL on their stream, and it applies only during the LCS seasons if i'm not mistaken.
yeah it was on reddit a month or two ago when tryndamere had his email hacked. Thought the game was canceled?

If anything, Hearthstone got a positive entry due to Kripparrian streaming it, since as far as I could tell, he was the first big hearthstone streamer.

Blizzard gave every person with any pull in streaming or youtube a key.

Thought the game was canceled? With game companies, I think something has to be absolutely awful to be canceled. A lot of stuff is shelved for if and when the time is right. Riot does that all the time, apparently, with champions.

Whomever brought up arena football brought up a crappy analogy. That'd be the equivalent of Riot not letting streamers play FPS multiplayer in CtF mode.

Sometimes I don't understand why people have opinions that are in direct conflict with mine. Clearly someone is wrong. Here are a list of analogies for why my opinion is better than your opinion:

Is it just me or this is different situation? I read it as NFL didn't carry AFL before that, and then they made a deal with each other and start carrying it.

i wonder what percentage of people who post in this thread are going to try out blizzard's moba pretty much as soon as its available, my first guess would be 100%.

I would guess it will crash a lot on 'launch' day due to server overloads though. That's sort of the norm these days.
