Streamers product they market to viewers is THEMSELVES, their personality, antics. ect. people watch scarra stream for scarra, not to watch league of legends. they want to watch SCARRA. Stream numbers don't drop when streamers are playing whatever anime rhythm game of the month comes on in between queues. the viewers are there for the person, not the game. So streaming would be more analogous to a programmer being forbidden from doing stand up about programming in their free time. And they are free to play those games while listed in a non-League section of twitch. People tune into Scarra's stream to watch him play league. They know the Super Kawaii Desu #3 is something he does to fill time and they put up with that in light of the fact.

Its pretty hard to tell anything given we have a very selected sample of the contract and none of the context. I don't think anyone can argue against this as a stipulation of being "featured" by riot. As during that time you are streaming as if endorsed by riot.

People say: "Riot is trying to control the esports scene and 'kill' other games". How does that logically follow from the information we've been given here? How does that explain the ban on pornography or tobacco? Is Riot trying to kill porn and cigarettes? Is this a social justice stance also? We may be able to draw parallels to the long-running struggle between streamers/content producers and the music industry. Where is the line between someone listening to their own music in a non-profit for-fun video and someone "scoring" their work with work they did not license? Even if it is unpopular, there is a very real legal question at the heart of the conflict. I think people are far too quick to just jump on the hype of a piece of paper read out of context. It's way too dangerous to jump directly to "Riot trying to kill streamers individuality" or "Riot trying to kill the industry". LCS players may be considered Riot employees and therefore there may be legal complexities involved with Riot employees seemingly advertising other products alongside League of Legends. There could be royalties issues or perception issues or fairness issues or other issues related to seeming Riot employees attaching certain things close to the existing League of Legends brand. We may not get more information from Riot on these contracts, but I really wish people would just take a brief moment while sharpening their pitchforks to think about what Riot would gain by trying to manipulate streams in the way that they are trying to claim they are. I don't think the upside is nearly as high for Riot as the downside. There must be another concern (even if this is a hamfisted mitigation of that concern; it is still an honest mitigation) that is driving this portion of the contract.

I finally found a top/jungle I can enjoy 1-trick-pony climbing with and now he's permaban in retard tier soloqueue purely because he got a new skin. I don't think it's the skin, but more people in lower tiers being completely afraid of Nasus.

I don't think anyone said Riot's intentions are malicious. Just the actions are retarded. It's just like how we complain about how stupid some (a lot) of Riot's balancing changes are. It's like people never saw a contract before Cuz, leveraging contracts in such a way that controls employee's free time is a dick move.

A general "esports player union" i think makes a lot of sense though. Think Koreans tried this but not sure if it collapsed

I'm not very good, and was just playing a normals with some friends, so it probably wasn't very indicative of his actual strength, but jesus, against lower tier players I could 1v4 the enemy team once I got ahead. On this topic, I was doing this with jungle rengar, I just took over my friends top lane after a while, should I still be picking up SV if they're all AD? I understand the heal boost, and CDR are still really nice, but such a huge waste of money into MR I don't really need. (I pretty much bought Zhonya's instead).
