Aiming the Q on your ally instead of the enemy makes a world of difference in those situations. Why? if you time your W and E you shouldn't need to waste Q for speed; unless you're completely in the wrong position.

In those situations I usually E myself because I want my ally to be able to just run and I can just get free hits while the enemy is chasing or something. W has a shorter range than Q.

Not to mention you aim at your teammates' feet to hit Q because that's probably where the enemy is, not to give him a speed buff...you're going to want to give him a W anyway

The fact that APs have better options doesn't suddenly make the stats more appropriate for a support either. Mikael's fits a nice niche of "get it when there's a zed and your adc has neither cleanse nor QSS and refuses to buy one" Of those, only QSS removes Death Mark, and Mikael's is the only one that doesn't remove Ignite. TBH I'm not sure why Riot made Ohmwrecker build from a gp10 item in the first place, because that more or less killed the item. I am almost positive Crucible removes Death mark

"Unique Active: Removes all stuns, roots, taunts, fears, silences and slows on an allied champion and heals for 150 + 10% of the target's maximum health. (180 second cooldown)" no it doesnt

Not sure why for a 180 second cooldown and so ridic an item cost it doesn't remove Suppression / Death Mark. You can't use it to cleanse yourself anyway.

Interestingly, Crucible also doesn't remove blinds. Whether that's just a tooltip error or a oversight or a conscious choice I don't know.
I think Riot is still terrified of Ohmwrecker being any good, which is why it's always been too expensive. I wouldn't count on it ever being viable except in maybe some niche situations.
And was Kog'maw designed as an adc? I thought they tried to make another 'hybrid' champion (like akali, jax, kayle) and iirc Malady was in his original recommended item set. Then people figured out he was better building straight adc so that's that.

Kogmaw and Tristana simply prove that if you give a champ really good AA range, people will learn to play them as an AD. You could slap a 3.0 AP ratio on Cait and people would STILL player her as an AD because of her range.
Which is why the secret to winning ARAM is to build any ranged character as an AD, unless they happen to be Fiddlesticks or something like that.

His E is stupid with all the free souls + items you get.

It is self-targetable (meaning you can always self-remove roots and slows with it) and has a 0.2 second activation delay regardless of target. This should allow you to self-cleanse if you can self-cast less than 0.2 seconds beforehand. While obviously pretty impractical for many cases, it should be very possible to self-cleanse many disables with slower travel times (a large fraction of them).
People figured out dodging stuns with Manta Style in DotA and that only has a margin of error of 0.1s. This is twice as long. Not practical for most levels of play, but at the highest level, it should be reasonable to expect someone to do it.

To be fair, Tristana and Kog'maw both have insane autoattack steroids. It's not just about the range; no one plays AD Annie seriously, after all.

I've heard muramana will double-proc on Jax's Empowered Strike. (That ability has all sorts of weird things, being a on-next-autoattack ability that procs spell vamp and rylai's, yet isn't one of the abilities that converts the entirety of the autoattack damage into magic damage)

Stacked Deck+PAC actually triple-procs Muramana.

He gets first blood in probably half our games at lvl1 with a long sword. He is a crazy mother fucker but damn thresh with a bf sword just chunks people. and like half of it is magic damage.

So since Kog was mentioned in relation to building champs as AD due to range/steroids, that reminds me of something I've wondered about recently - why did AP Kog disappear? I remember seeing him quite a lot in tourneys, maybe a year ago or a bit longer, and it seemed like he's absurd post-6 once he has some damage and mana pool/regen. Do people still play AP Kog?
|
I've seen AP Kog in ranked a few times.
Feels like if the jungler camps him he gets destroyed and does nothing, and if people ignore him and let him farm then late game he's real scary.
Kind of like AD Kog, really.

His laning (solo) is really awful and he can't roam and make some kind of mid game impact like a lot of current mid laners. His late game is still terrifying though
