I'm quoting you because you're correct. People freaked out on that Liandry's article because it was wrong. I think he used Lux as the main example. If you can't land combos and kinda lazilly throw skills out there then it's great (ARAM). The entire article was based on some weird idea that people can't land QER combo in full- which is ironically the way you want to play Lux. So maybe it's fine for low skill levels, but the second you can do a proper skill rotation that article was a joke.

I know I'm going to get a lot of shit for this, but everytime I ADC, i never go zerkers anymore. That tenacity saves my ass so much.

Then again, it could be the ADC's I primarily play (Corki/Ez/Urgot/MF). If I Vayne/Twitch tho, I go zerkers.

Am I the only one who see's the new Spellbreaker (melee only) is Riot's attempt at bring melee carries back into favor? So for champs like Trynd, Yi, Fiora, it looks like a favorable item.

The only champion that could get away with putting money into crit at the competitive level is tryndamere. And he doesn't really need to build spellbreaker.

For anyone else if you could get away with building crit because the other team has low cc, doesn't know how to kite, or are general baddies, you could just go PD+IE.

No, it's also because fully farmed melee carries are incredibly difficult to kill (STR carries have stupid huge health pool, AGI melee carries make Kassadin jealous of their mobility) and the gold gap between a carry and the rest of a team is larger and big carry items are BIGGER, which makes the carry more capable of brute force winning fights. And some of them just scale SO much harder with gold than other characters in the game.

Furthermore, DOTA's definition of a melee carry would include League champions with kits (and ideal item builds) like Jax or Riven.

In fact, I contest that melee carries DO work in LoL, just Tryndamere and Fiora don't work super well because they're CCless but supposed to build damage.

Edit: It occurs to me new-master-Yi should also be able to use Spellbreaker since Alpha Strike will be able to crit (so 2 champions!)

ehhh I feel absurb scaling still get screwed by burst damage and cc stacking (hence the necessity of BKB). I'll stop commenting because I don't know enough about Dota to go on.

There already is an item in LoL that helps with CC and burst magic damage, it's called QSS. And it already gives a bigger effect to melees than ranged.

Riot would never have an item as OP as BKB in the game.

I just feel like Riot should stop trying to make Melee Carries a thing. It already only exists in a limited format and there has always been problems associated with it. Even if they were to make it a thing it would require a much larger overhaul than they've put in so far.

Edit: Or at least the glass cannon type anyway, like syl said, Dota Melee Carriers are closer to Jax than Fiora.

honestly a more similar comparison to dota would be if people tried to go scimitar first item, it's not like melee carries in dota are going deadalis(IE kinda) first item

the problem is a lot of the hybrid defensive items would be "toxic" by riot standards

Lothar's/Manta/BKB could never happen.

Also in Dota, stats give offense and defense. Basically every champ that gets stats gets a free Vlad/Singed passive of some kind. You build your primary stat (Agility, Strength, Intelligence) and get attack damage + AS/Armor, HP/Regen, or Mana/Mana Regen.
