Also new Doran's Shield stronk. Against Elise she'll run herself oom while you're still basically topped off -- it makes weaving autos basically useless for her unless you have 0 trading potential (minions will almost certainly do more back than the auto).

I'm a friend of onlywonderboy (if that counts for anything; the only community things I've learned through this thread so far are that Costcos are a heaven-sent gift and that you all really enjoy Pokemon) and decided to join this forum on his recommendation! I'm a low-Silver scrub who has spent most of his summer trying to battle out of Silver into Gold, with moderate success. Hoping to learn a thing or two from you guys. I've actually been keeping a journal with my ranked games and notes in it, in an attempt to better myself, and I think it's working. I store my game data, immediate impressions, and advice to myself in it after games, with intent to look back over notes in downtime. Has anyone tried something similar, to their success? I know watching replays are a popular way to improve, but I don't think my crappy HP laptop and inconsistent home internet would allow gaming and recording at the same time very well. I'm a little late to respond to this as well, but GUESS WHERE I WAS YESTERDAY + Show Spoiler + ![]() I told my wife why I was taking this picture and she thought it was funny.

How are people reacting to the Doran's changes? The few games I've played, DRing + 2 pots seems the obvious choice (2 games as Annie, 1 as Zyra). I've running DRing and pots on Lissandra with decent success. I miss starting with a ward, but with Liss at least I have a built in escape.

Boots+4 might be pretty good too, but I didn't have much time to experiment yet. Kind of match-up dependent, which is pretty good since there is some choice involved instead of always opening the same. It's kinda interesting. Since S3, people have become so reliant on potion/ward starts. This is something I never really developed. Sure, there are some champs I would run Flask on, or Faerie+consumables. But for the most part, I've been running Boots+3, just as I did S2. There are obviously the matchups where I'd have to start cloth+pots as well (vs assassins). Because of this, I think I'm quite comfortable starting with DRing+2. It fits my very aggressive laning style. The only thing I miss is the extra MS, but if I flash tibbas you, who cares if I'm a little bit slower?

More of a "who's NOT picked right now?" Which is pretty much Corki and Sivir. Quinn is also more a niche or solo lane pick than a common adc you'll see. Draven, Caitlyn, Ez, Twitch, Varus, Vayne, MF, Trist, Kog, and Graves all have seen competitive play within the past 2 weeks. Right now you need to be either ban or survive Draven (which changes next patch), and expect to see a lot of blue Ezreal (CDR with Muramana and Iceborne Gauntlet), Caitlyn, and Varus in lane.

More or less, ADC balance has come along way from the League of Ezreal. There hasn't been very much Ashe play that I know of, but her laning in 3.8 has improved (tough to manage the passive however), so you may start seeing some more Ashe.

Either by enemy laner posturing, general knowledge of enemy gank timings/paths, or the sheer fact that the enemy jungler hasn't shown up anywhere yet, you begin to figure out when you might be in danger. Sure, there are still times I get surprised (happens more often after I take breaks and when I'm not thinking as much). But I've always been a very aggressive laner. This works two-fold: -The enemy jungler camps me. Yes, it sucks. But I trust myself to get out of these situations more than I trust my teammates, so it's ok. If I play it right and succeed, then the enemy jungler wasted time. If I mess up, then hopefully my team is being successful elsewhere. -The enemy jungler ignores me. This means I can keep pressuring HARD. The more this happens, the more I can afford wards, and then if the enemy jungler decides to focus me, I can stay safe through that vision. It's all about how you work the situational advantage. And, of course, there are the times I get straight outplayed and I wallow in my sadness. I loved (and still love) playing against Mao as Annie or Viktor. With Annie, I get a stun ready (3 or 4 charges) and bait the Mao gank. With Viktor, I get W earlier. All you do is over extend a little, wait for Mao root, and flash under tower. Stun him and watch him cry. This happens more often than I'm sure enemies care to admit. The only time I'm afraid of Mao is if I'm laning against Ryze. Ryze flash+W into Mao gank is completely unavoidable. To be honest, I just ban Ryze lol

The fact you have been able to get away without a ward for so long blows my mind. If I'm mid and I see the enemy doesn't have a ward I just tell my Jungler and if they have half a brain it's almost always a kill (or at least a burned Flash).

As a jungler, I knew the pressure mid and the "overextension" is going to draw the enemy jungler mid. Therefore, if I'm not ganking another lane early, I farm wraiths/wolves and back around mid or am in the area generally waiting for the countergank. After I base I will always buy a ward for mid so mid can continue to exert pressure mid, and we can ward more aggressively as a result. As a top lane, it's also awesome because it means I can push aggressively too. Nothing is worse top than having a jungler who camps you and your team not having any map pressure anywhere else, so you can't push towers or take dragon. When both solo lanes are aggressive it forces their jungler to make a tough choice on which lane to help, and it also lets the entire top half of the map to be aggressively warded which makes it even harder for them. I do think how you play mid early depends on how much faith you have in your jungler. Baiting their jungler mid for a 2v2 countergank is brutal for them. EDIT: outside of mids with on-demand cc (like Ryze), it's pretty tough to gank a mid laner with boots start that isn't mentally deficient in positioning. For example if you are blue side and you know the other team started blue, stay near the top half of your lane for a while. Once you know he's not ganking level 2, you move to the bot half of your lane since he's top jungle. If they try to gank you just run away with faster MS.

Sometimes I put too much faith in my own jungler and end up 1v2ing when I thought he was gonna counter gank. Saddest feeling ever lol.
