I like Yango's idea of having no leagues, but I'd take it a step further. Have two distinct leagues, one with a really degrading name like "Trash players" or "Plebian league" that contains 99.9% of players, then the top 0.1% can have their "diamond league" or "gilded league" or whatever which entitles them to commemorative skins, special forum icons, in-game borders and icons, etcetc. That way the vast majority of LoL players will never have to face the unbearable pain of being demoted, but there will be no mistaking the fact that they are awful at this game, not that they're "actually gold-level but stuck in elo hell"

MoonBear Annie Skin Tier List
- Reverse Annie - Absolutely top tier cosplay right here and clearly a lot of effort put into the costume as well. It's all-weather gear too and machine washable which makes doing the laundry a breeze. Did I mention it's super cute too? Plus, there's a 3-year waranty free on Mannie as well, which is perfect for when a button breaks after throwing him too much at heathens who refuse to believe in the Moon. Clearly a must-have for accessory every Annie's wardrobe, and never wasted no matter what the weather is.
- Panda Annie - In League of Legends, endangered species hunts you. The perfect skins for anyone who likes cute, pandas, China or is a vocal member of PETA. If your friend somehow hates computer games because it lets people kill animals, buy them the Panda Annie skin and watch them carry you all the way to Challenger as their bloodlust takes over in their desire to avenge Pandas. It's great for your Elo and style. What more do you need?
- Frostfire Annie - This used to be OP because the stun particle was so hard to see, but now it's been changed so it's not S-Tier any more. The kit is super cool, but with Summer fast approaching it's important to theme your skins with the weather and wearing a parka is just not practical in Summer Rift. You can try to be all hipster but sometimes you just try too hard really. That being said, it is an excellent counter to a Frejlord team and every Annie should have one of these for emergencies in Ranked or 5s when playing against people who try to theme Ice.
- Red Riding Annie - Themes great with Grandma Warwick. You also have a hamper basket for storing picnic when you get hungry in mid lane. Too bad you can't store more items in it. Also, the Chinese Splash Art for this is super cool. Like, seriously cool. Plus it's a Legacy skins so you get to be all elitist at loading screen and laugh at the peasants who don't have Legacy skins like you.
- Goth Annie - Tibbers is made of patchwork and has button eyes. Goes great in a pair with Gothic Orianna but you rarely get team comps where you can theme like this so minus points for impractical team theme. That being said, you can have a Goth v Goth duel mid lane. And that's actually pretty cool cause you can pretend to be a young Bellatrix or something and laugh as you kill all the wanna-be Gryffindor heros. That's actually kinda cool. So plus points for that.
- Prom Queen Annie - The tuxedo is really nice and the hat gives off that suave '20s Chicago look but it's really let down by Annie. She looks like something from Toddlers and Tiaras. That dress is so last season too. This summer it's all about the long loose free-flowing summer gowns, with bonus points for shawl and wide-brim sun hat.
- Annie in Wonderland - Tibbers is hiding his pocket watch because it's obviously some Chinese fake or something. No self-respecting bear would hide a genuine Frodsham pocket watch like all classy bears should carry. I guess you can pretend to be Elizabeth from Bioshock as she goes through her rebellious teen years and dyes her hair but it still feels kinda off here. The small usamimi doesn't help either. Bunny Bunny Riven pls.
- FrankenTibbers Annie - Tibbers doesn't even look like a proper bear. He's all like some junkie whose life spiralled out of control and is now some drug junkie. Say no to drugs cubs. Lead a good and proper life and you get to write articles for TL.

the reality is, in lol, people do look down on you when you're not highly ranked
i've played some normals with and against diamond players who make dumb decisions. like really dumb decisions. like they get caught out all alone in late-game, die, and lose the game for the team.
but it doesn't matter because they're diamond and all the blame falls on you, the silver player who doesn't have time to grind solo queue anymore. even when you cover for their mistake and win the game.

and it's annoying as hell

Both.This is a game for fun.Ladder ranking gives you absolutely nothing.
Personally I don't look at ranking at all but just at performance in game.I mean if someone is doing their job well I couldn't care less what league they are in >.>.

I kind of liked the Gunbound ranking system, a bunch of lower ranks based on points, but a good number based on what percentile of players you were in at the top as well.

I care about ranking because I want to know what my skill level is in relation to everyone else. Without a ranking, I'd have no way of knowing that -- I could compare myself to other people in my games, but I wouldn't know where they stood. I might be able to tell if I was improving, but I couldn't know for sure whether it was from bronze to silver or platinum to diamond. And as a result, I'd be much less interested in playing the game.

Its not really the same thing though. Blizzard made it that you can't drop into a lower league during a season, and since sc2 seasons are really short, its not that big of a matter.
