The question is does he say they do this or do they actually do this.

This game has many strange coincidences, such as your friend's global taunt. For example, over my last 7 games my performance is inversely proportional to the way the game turns out.
I'm 3-4, and my match history is ridiculous. 7-3-9, 250cs, loss (essentially x4), 2-4-4 170cs, win. Whatever. With the exception of one of those wins, whenever I do well early/mid game one of the other lanes does so poorly that we end up losing, or I just can't carry hard enough. Then I do poorly in lane and get a total stud Vayne bot lane and all that matters is I land some CC and we win.
At one point yesterday (in a regular) I was something like 5-1 at the end of the laning phase, and then I looked at the bot lane Ezreal's items. Dude *rushed* an Iceborn, then built a Banshee's veil, while completely ignoring damage. He then started to build a Zhonya's, but we lost the now-obviously-4v5 game after that.

Neo's been part of TL for forever, he's not just going to up and move the staff just because they won't officially cover LoL (which he believes is a justifiable stance at the moment). So no, not the craziest idea ever, but the logistics just kind of go against it.
this is the right conclusion but for all the wrong reasons TL is like *the* place to be if you're an elitist. moving a community literally *is* as easy as flipping a switch. this is the web. you type in the new url, click favorite, and click make my home page. now you have a new community. it still wouldn't work because then the "old guard" would lose their "old guard" status. people like complaining, but doing something about it is often too much effort
anyways jongalt i support your idea

They actually do this, they'd still focus him if he was 0/5 and our 13/1 top was ripping the opponents apart.

Indeed. I have recently experienced the most epic loss streak - something like 30 games in a row. Out of all of them, I recall losing my lane once - so basically, trolls and just bad players all around. And now now, I have won like 14 out of my last 15 games while doing nothing differently, while playing the same heroes. Even got carried once. Just competent teammates all around (minus one guy, who insisted he can play anything but supp, picked ez and had like 50 cs by 20 min mark). What are the chances?

Wow, what did they do to Olaf? 40% win-rate on LolKing now, maybe some nerfs were needed but I didn't think the changes would affect him that much, but they have really taken a shit on him.

Has anyone here tried smiteless jungling?
When I play with my buds, the jungle always starts wolf/blue smiteless, so he can immediately redbuff then gank mid with doublebuff while the enemy mid is still lvl 1.
It would seem possible, then, that not even picking up smite at all would be possible, if the jungler were to get support from bot or support while taking the second redbuff. Someone like J4, in this instance, could get exhaust/ignite for epic ganks (since he doesn't even really need flash).
This might be insane, but with certain junglers, it would seem that having an extra ignite or exhaust lategame would be worth losing smite for.

His winrate was low before the nerfs, because you need to be able to land axes with him and manage your health to be most effective. A lot of people just pick him up and fail with him, like me.

He still has all the things that make him scary, I'd argue. He has a pretty big problem actually getting up to somebody's face. A few times he's been picked in pro games, I'd watch him running after somebody, land a few axes but not get close enough to follow up. As soon as a single axe is dodged, the person getting chased successfully escapes. The huge nerf to his slow is pretty severe, considering that he has no other way to ensure he gets into melee range. I've played him once since posting this too, and though I won the game, I still felt this. I'll land an axe but cant get close enough to E or auto and I just get kited. Playing against Olaf one game as ADC, I just didn't fear him even with ragnarok on. I just kited him, with nobody on my team peeling. The slow felt so negligible even when I failed to dodge the axe. Doesn't help that the axes ALSO do less damage since the free armor pen is gone (I can't really complain about that nerf, it seemed justified to me.)

eh I feel like this sounds too dickish but I'm really just very annoyed at the last couple of balance changes. I liked when they tried to fix ezreal / corki / graves trinity by sorta poking around at it, last couple of champions they have nerfed they've literally hit EVERY move, I'm not even saying these champions didn't need to be nerfed, but lets put in a little fenesse here ok?
I also hate player attitude towards nerfs, when people say, "nerf this" or "I can't wait till they nerf that champion" I just hate that mentality, just ban it or draft it holy shit and if you got "We can't riot only gives us 6 bans"(which is terrible I agree) then ban so you get 1 thing with first pick or 2 things as a trade for 2nd, it's pretty easy.

Win rate isn't a huge factor, but more than 5% above/below 50% it shows the champion has some balance issues.
Thanks for the replies, I think Riot can be very knee jerk with how many nerfs they apply at once, I'd rather only see one nerf at a time until they get a champion to a satisfactory level.

You just said what I was trying to point out, they hit all aspects of a champion, rather than focusing on the little things that make that champion OP or UP.

There are, and always have been, many junglers that could, in principle, get by without it, with or without help.

It also increases the speed of a lot of champions with mainly AOE clears, as well as others. Without it you would take a little while a a few levels to get rolling and being able to exert pressure onto the lanes, since you would be taking longer and taking more damage meaning more trips back.

That is one of the main factors. Doing Dragon or Baron without smite is scary. Sure, you usually want to avoid ending up with a smite duell anyways, but there is just so much stuff that can steal your shit if you have no smite on your team. Enemy jungler, burst casters, even some toplaners can often steal a buff from you if you have no smite. Because usually your casters won't want to waste their ult on a dragon/baron you are doing at the moment, but the enemy ones have no problem doing that to steal it.
Depending on situation the enemy jungler can easily contest every single one of your buffs if he has smite and you don't.
The fact that smite helps your first clear is secondary to those two things, and not the primary reason to pick smite as a jungler. I guess you could do something if you pick smite on someone else, maybe on someone with built-in spellvamp as basically a sustain heal, or a support for buff stealing actions, but that sounds like a very fringe case, and in most cases it is smarter to just have your jungler have smite. Not having a single smite on your team is not smart as i described above.

if you dont have smite, the enemy jungler can just mess you up at red and kill you.
Not even worth discussing.

I'm late to the discussion on the reddit change about promoting esports articles... I just wanted to chime in and say I don't think it is that big of a deal. It honestly makes me rely on TL more since I already preferred to go here for news related to league. The people who want the good type of content you guys are providing will find it and check here first.
Anyways keep doing what you do, I certainly enjoy all the coverage you are providing!

What if smite wasn't necessary, then? What if it just did something along the lines of applying a debuff to any smited creep that causes it to take like 10% increased damage from all sources on your team over some period of time?

I'd imagine that junglers would replace it with Exhaust in most cases for ganking.
Edit:
And Nunu/Cho would see more play for buff/drag/baron control.
