So I'm at a point where I can choose to really master one or two top champs for platinum level play, or have a diverse pool of like 4-5 that I can play relatively well.
Do any of the more experienced TLers (Bly, Shake, Chrispy, Smash, Neo etc) have suggestions for this? Recently I've improved from about a 1200 level of play to an 1800 level of play in a couple of months and I'm looking to see what that next step is to push me into high plat and potentially diamond by the end of the season.
Currently I just snowball with Riven, Akali, and Irelia as those are my 3 most comfortable champs, but as I play better people it seems a lot more difficult to do so since less mistakes are made. Are there any top laners in particular that I should know for every matchup?
Any input would be welcome ^_^

Thats about the top4 it seems. Irelia isnt quite there yet, Riven can work, depends on how well you play her (im horrible on riven). Its all about getting trough the first couple of levels without getting behind. The 4 I named are pretty safe in lane early on

K so I have a new super fun hipster jungle for yall.
Poppy. Seriously.
Her clear is actually REAL quick, and her passive/w means you take next to no damage from critters. She ganks ok in top/bot thanks to her E, and she can actually just run in and whack people in any lane thanks to her W. Plus she absolutely fucks the shit out of a teamfight.
She is SUPER mana heavy early on, however. I found first clear to be real quick, but once blue was gone I did start to run into issues before I grabbed some mana.
Plus she has a plethera of options for items to build. The spellvamp madreds item would be sick on her, plus she is still more than happy to go tanky CDR items to spam q's out, so Locket etc. pickups are quite good.

Or on the other hand if you just wanna straight win games just play topwick, get an SV and BOTRK and win the game. That item is seriously broken on him.

Ahhh ok. Well I have been reading TL since I started playing BW back in middle school, and I have always loved it. I never wanted to post until I came here to Lesotho and it helps pass the time a ton (wish I had started sooner).
I guess we get everything we need here, but I had delusions of grandeur of becoming the LoL version of Nazgul and living out the rest of my life playing and working with LoL all the time haha. Guess I will have to apply to Riot! Maybe Mogwai can put in a good word for me

Hey man if you got a vision for a site, go for it. There is space to fill for a good LoL site. It's just that most of the people on TL LoL come from other parts of TL, so it's pretty comfortable to do this under the TL banner.
If it turns out that TL doesn't (for whatever reason) wants to do a serious LoL thing in the future, there will be someone else doing it. It's just a matter of time really. I really hope it will be TL that does it though.

I don't see how his landing phase will change. Unless you are alreaady winning really hard, you won't be able to actually kill the opposing laner with r as the finishing blow.

I went and tested Liandry's in a coop since somebody said Liandry doesn't munch ticks anymore, using Swain as he was the champion quoted:
- Swain's Q and E actually only tick once per second, and not once every half-second as the wiki claims. It may have been reverted recently though, since I seem to recall at least Q dealing damage every half-second when I played a lot of Swain 2-3 weeks ago.
- However, when using Liandry's with one of those spells, I only dealt damage once per proc, which means that the DoT ticks still munched the Liandry's tick corresponding to them, and you only get the 0.5s interval tick from Liandry's.
- This also means that if you chain your spells badly, you'll munch even more ticks as one of the two sill tick within 0.5s of the other, reseting Liandry's before it could tick even once.
- His ult deals damage once per second (albeit to up to 3 targets), and it also only displayed a Liandry's tick between two damage occurrences.
So, while Swain does indeed munch less tick and is a better Liandry's user than most DoT champions, keep in mind that DoTs still munch Liandry's proc, and that 0.5s frequency DoT will munch every Liandry's tick during their duration, while 1s frequency DoTs will actually benefit from it more than nukes.
You also have to pay attention to how your spells cast overlap in the case of multiple DoTs if you want to maximise your damage.
TL;DR: before buying Liandry's on a DoT champ, consider the frequency of said DoTs: if it's every half-second or faster, consider him the same as a nuke champion regarding Liandry's passive. If it's slower and you don't overlap spells, it'll make better use of Liandry's than most nuke champions.
Examples: Brand (his passive ticks every second), Swain.
Counter-examples: Anivia (her ult ticks every 0.25s, it's still not bad on her but because she can double its damage extremely easily and can poke to trigger it on full-health targets from a long range), Malzahar (Malefic Visions and Nether Grasp tick every 0.5s, Monte said Null Zone ticks every 0.25s and the wiki said every second but I don't have him to check).

I'm not sure I understand your point... it's not when you tick that is important, but how much time passes between 2 ticks: if it's too fast, Liandry's doesn't have time to tick before it is reset by your spell, essentially making it work like a nuke for Liandry's passive's purpose.
Liandry's doesn't start ticking immediatly, but only 0.5s after you apply spell damage (let's say 0.51s to make the priority clearer), so if another instance of magic damage is applied by a Liandry's bearer during that time, Liandry's debuff will be reset and another 0.5s will pass before it starts ticking. So with a spell ticking every 0.5s or faster, Liandry's will be constantly reset until the spell stops dealing damage, hence why it acts the same as a nuke for the number of ticks you'll get in the end.
(Swain's Q ticks immediatly by the way, eg. 0s, 1s, 2s, but the slow persists until 3s.)

Having an issue viewing a replay. Says can't find leagueoflegends.exe in my data folder of LoLReplay for 1.0.0.154. Then why I try manually place it in there it asks to redl it but then fails again. This is the replay in question http://www.leaguereplays.com/replays/match/2750696/
Kind of need to look at it to sort out a local dispute.

Replay to sort out a "Local Dispute" makes me think of a friend I play with a lot, who mains ADC. More than once does he do dumb shit, like be the only one past the river with 4 MIA. Or in one case, where he died to the tower dive and blamed support for dropping tower aggro onto him. We watch Replay. Lulu goes in, tanks the tower for a dive while maokai and ezreal go in. Takes 3 shots at the edge of tower range, backs off at low health. As he's backing out (with not enough health to take a 4th shot) Ezreal then arcane shifts into melee rangeo f the tower and melee range of leona, who punches him in the face with her shield as the tower is now switched off of lulu, and he eats like 4 tower shots before attempting to flash out (wasted flash, as the killing tower projectile was in the air).
Replays tell the truth 
This sounds pretty boneheaded, but whenever I go back and look at my plays in a replay, I always look like such a scrub. Especially in slo-mo.

Haha no man this is for a local league. Dispute is over a pause since there are certain rules surrounding pausing. We just have no league people in committee just yet so looks like I have to deal with it since we also only have like 2 dota people.

I have been watching a lot of wingsofdeathx recent stream and he buys a LOT of potions and wards. he'll be ahead in the lane and still about even in items because of this. The wards are understandable, but I don't understand why he doesn't just grab sustain items or a crsytalline flask/ward charges instead.
thoughts on this? (the champions i noticed it on most was akali and kayle)

Have you ever met someome tat seems to have a global taunt every game? It seems whenever I play with my friend troy, every game he either gets camped by the jungler if hes mid, constantly 4man ganked as bot, and counterjungled/ganked as jungler. Every game the opponents seem to aim straight at him, ignoring the rest of my allies.
