Eh, I don't think he seems that strong. Seems like death sentence would be hard to hit vs good players and flay seems super situational. dark passage seems like a really insane skill though, and his ultimate seems pretty strong. I'd guess that if he is good, it would only be with a fully coordinated team.

Problem is after a certain point it's difficult to trade effectively in your favour and you start losing out CS. I also found it difficult to roam because you're probably going to get killed if he catches you in the open. Depends very heavily on the 2 champions involved, which ap, which bruiser. Best bet for AP is to build armor/hp (guise/Zhonyas maybe even tabi if you are a tanky ap like ryze/swain/vlad) and try to get out of laning phase without feeding him kills, it's ok to give up cs just don't die to him and let him roam and get more fed.

Now he has his own pro team and I'm still stuck in 1300 elo..... Yeah that's how it goes sometimes. My only semi-famous friend is Hai L9, but he's still not top tier so I can't namedrop him yet. Han Pro League might have also been S3 patch, I don't remember, but I can't seem to find VODs for that anyway. G-League VODs: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNTAxNTg2NzMy.html http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNTAxNTgyNDM2.html http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNTAyMDI4MTAw.html http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNTAyMDYxNjIw.html Don't know where the first post on these, but fyi all Asian tournament realm replays seem to be broke atm. We have all the StarsWar ones but no one can get them to load, so VOD's are going to be the go to.

Tbh, Phreak's recommended items and runes and summoners contribute to people trying a champion one way instead of figuring things out for themselves. I think the showcase should really be used to show how a champion is played rather than how it's built. But watching Phreak make plays is entertaining too. I dunno. There are a lot of people who play this game who have no idea what to build. They either build recommended items or just look up a guide. I have tons of friends who, upon playing a champion the first few times, immediately go to Mobafire and look at the top guide and just copy/paste that build. I'm pretty sure the majority of the player base is like this. Maybe Riot shouldn't be encouraging this but frankly there are a small number of people who actually try to innovate new builds and once they do they typically get posted on a guide site and soon everyone is just copying the new build. I don't think players would get more innovative if Phreak didn't include his builds in the spotlight. Especially since most players already just run to Mobafire or Solomid or something and copy a build off there.

This seems really counter-intuitive but it seems that going kages->Sorcs->Void->Morellos then deathcap is actually the best build for pure damage, while also benefitting vs high mr target and having the cdr/mana regen from morellos. Only problem with the build is that since you have more pen then flat ap farming is harder early. (cant use e to 1 shot back line) Does anyone know what AP items are the most cost-efficient for just pure damage?

I'd guess that if he is good, it would only be with a fully coordinated team. I think it's a mistake to look at Death Sentence the same way people look at Rocket Grab. Like Rocket Grab it will necessitate careful play and bush wards, but that's where the similarities end. Death Sentence is far more versatile an ability due to Thresh's kit as a whole. A much better analog would actually be Dredge Line; its ability to reposition Nautilus is as important as its ability to catch opponents. Ideally you might want to hook an opponent, but there are many circumstances where that's not necessary. Using it as an escape is an obvious one. Less obvious is the potential to hook to creeps near an opponent and bring a jungler or other teammate with you. In the end, you can always wait until someone else has already landed crowd control if need be. I expect we'll see a very diverse range of opinions on him once he's out, largely because a lot of players are going to be fairly fail at soul collection.

Run Armor Seals, Attack Speed on everything else. If you don't have Attack Speed Glyphs run Armor or MR. You want 22/8/0 for masteries. The first clear might be slightly better if you invested in more AD masteries rather than AP/Magic Penetration, but there's no way that would be worth it later. E at level 1 is faster and safer, it interrupts creep auto-attacks and gives you some leeway to kite Blue. You must kite Blue if you're on your own and want to have a prayer clearing. You can take Q first, but because you haven't stacked any souls at level 1 the passive damage is negligible and the hook often his the small wolves/lizards instead of your desired target. I would only take Q if there's going to be a level 1 team fight/invasion that you'll be fighting and your certain your team will leash. I haven't run tests yet on his jungling past the first clear, nor on his soul collection rate as a jungler. According to the wiki the enemy won't see souls in their lane if you're nearby unless they can see you, so there's no tipoff. As a final note if you time it right you can jump to the enemy during the second tug on Death Sentence, maximizing the distance they're dragged while also placing you on the other side of them. You can actually see this in the spotlight (at 1:05).
