This guy just started playing about a year ago and was fresh to the game. He shot up to higher elo only playing Nidalee and learning the mechanics of the game through her, because he wanted to be a professional player, and now he is 'somewhat' The problem is that those guys can only exist on the back of others, and everybody hates them. If you can only play one role, you are banking on the rest of your team being flexible, AND giving you what you want. You probably have to use "Mid or feed" tactics to always get your pick, and maybe trollpicking in order to get someone to dodge if you have to play something else. In short, you have to be a dick if you can only play one role. It might work, but people will still hate you, and you will still be incredibly annoying.

Now I wonder if I'll have to switch my game's language so I can type "BT" and get it, or it the keywords are shared across languages.

Or you become inverted, memorize all the gold amounts you give when you die and recite them as people keep killing you when you dont get to play your champ.

I mean, they owned Soraka and picked raka twice in the season or something, but they still knew the game well enough to do it alright. Same thing here: shoot to play one role over and over, but own some other champions for when you need to do something else (also, they used free champions some). Plus the amount of people that were playing during those times were little. Even then they had the name recognition to get whatever they wanted. You still see it now in the higher elo's constantly. The player pool is vastly smaller so its simple to get the role you want because you've likely paired with a few members of your team multiple times. If your starting out in ranked now you will likely never see a familiar face. The odds of getting that one champion you want are very little. So not getting it you're basically useless if you aren't capable of getting someone to dodge. Sure if your higher elo play that one champion till you die, starting out you're forced to adapt.

TBH it would be pretty cool if they made the displayed item text editable so that you could use your own custom keywords for searching for items.

You need strong last hitting, map awareness, ability to adapt to different champions and comps. You also need a fair amount of time.

Consistency, if you are capable of continuing to play well game after game you will slowly climb the ladder. Obviously learning to properly execute mechanics is a big plus. I think mechanics like last hitting are one the rise in the lower elo. Not overly high, but cs seems much higher than what they once were. I think the biggest issue is coordinating with your team to push an advantage. Grouping, executing plays to take down a turret instead of getting a couple of kills and doing nothing after. Could possibly be a million reasons as to why its hard, but the only guaranteed way up is if you're capable of playing well the majority of the time.

Also to know what to do in situations, you can't just instantly know what works and what doesn't without ever being in that situation.
